I had the great fortune of meeting Mel Blanc when I was a front desk clerk at a hotel he stayed at back in the late ‘70’s. Very unassuming and polite man. If I remember correctly he could come and go as he pleased and nobody really noticed him. But I knew who he was and was thrilled to have him stay with us. As a kid I couldn’t wait for the cartoon characters he voiced on Saturday mornings.
I really admire how poised and composed and talented he is during interviews. He’s also very humble and sincere, he never ever lets fame get to his head.
@@cheshirecat6518 Mel Blanc was an actor while doing the voices. I don't know if Noel could act, in spite of imitating the voices. That's the real difference, and it's the genius of Mel Blanc.
When Mel Blanc passed, there was a cartoon cell of the Warner Brothers characters standing on the left side of the frame looking down and sad with a microphone in a spotlight, and all it said was "Speechless" A very fitting tribute.
Mr. Blanc had said that of all his cartoon voices-the hardest one on his voice was "Yosemite Sam"--in fact his vocalization work on him was left to the end of the day as this would then allow him to go home and rest his voice
Such an extraordinary talent. I loved all the Warner Bros. cartoons growing up and still see them occasionally. My favorite characters as given voice by Mel Blanc in addition to Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck were Foghorn Leghorn and Yosemite Sam. These were funny, unforgettable cartoons of my youth. On Mel Blanc’s grave marker are the words “That’s All Folks”.
Every interview is the same. Wish someone would have asked about his childhood. Where he grew up. How he came about doing voices. What other jobs has he had. Does his family get tired of it. Have there been any regrets in his career. But no. It's always the same. "Who's your favorite voice?" "What was your first voice"? This one is at least a little better.
As an operatic tenor, I found the story about his vocal structure being the same as Caruso's very insightful ....I would think that having such a unique muscular structure in the throat would explain their incredible vocal stamina. An amazing fact!!

Mr. Mel Blanc was a genius!! What a great talented and a legend!! Miss him dearly. Warner Bros cartoons are my favorite and what made me who I am today. Those are my best childhood memories. Thanks to our genius, Mr. Mel Blanc!!

Sorry Fultonfalcons86, give Robin Williams credit but he was never in the same league as Mel Blanc. I never ever heard a curse word from Mel, never had to use the "F" bomb to be funny. All very clean and fun language that anyone of any age could listen. I never got tired of listening to Mel but after a while Robin became annoying. To use a Mel line, he would have told Robin "Aaaaahhhh shut up" lol. Simply my opinion.

My pleasure!

Mine, too!
Mel Blanc is gift from God.
He started from 📻 radio
No one will ever top Mel Blanc! God rest his beloved soul!
It is cool that his wife looked after him and made sure that he did not overdo things. Teamwork in marriage is awesome.

RIP Mel Blanc (1908-1989) (the man of a Thousand Voices)
He was born in 1908 not 1909
His parrot voice was the same voice he used for the raven in the cuckoo clock during the first season on The Munsters.

Mel Blanc (1908-1989).
Yes! Ran to the TV on Saturday morning, what a reason to jump on my brother's back and sit there til noon, those were the days!
He started smoking at age 9 and quit at age 77 when he was diagnosed with emphysema. He smoked for 68 years, jesus christ.
He probably had a very alkaline body, to smoke, and last that long
