The Lyrics: 1. I bind unto myself today the strong name of the Trinity by invocation of the same, the Three in One and One in Three. 2. I bind this day to me forever, by power of faith, Christ’s incarnation, his baptism in the Jordan river, his death on cross for my salvation, his bursting from the spiced tomb, his riding up the heavenly way, his coming at the day of doom, I bind unto myself today. 3. I bind unto myself the power of the great love of cherubim; the sweet ‘Well done’ in judgment hour; the service of the seraphim; confessors’ faith, apostles’ word, The patriarchs’ prayers, the prophets’ scrolls; all good deeds done unto the Lord, and purity of virgin souls. 4. I bind unto myself today the virtues of the starlit heav’n, the glorious sun’s life-giving ray, the whiteness of the moon at even, the flashing of the lightning free, the whirling wind’s tempestuous shocks, the stable earth, the deep salt sea around the old eternal rocks. 5. I bind unto myself today the power of God to hold and lead, his eye to watch, his might to stay, his ear to hearken to my need, the wisdom of my God to teach, his hand to guide, his shield to ward, the word of God to give me speech, his heav’nly host to be my guard. 6. Christ be with me, Christ within me, Christ behind me, Christ before me, Christ beside me, Christ to win me, Christ to comfort and restore me. Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ in quiet, Christ in danger, Christ in hearts of all that love me, Christ in mouth of friend and stranger. 7. I bind unto myself the Name, the strong Name of the Trinity by invocation of the same, the Three in One and One in Three, of whom all nature hath creation, eternal Father, Spirit, Word. Praise to the Lord of my salvation; salvation is of Christ the Lord!
And this is the version of the song we used to sing everyday at school . Although I like Deers Cry. I was head choristers, so i am looking back with good memories with the woman doing the singing.
might I use this great recording for an online service of the United Reformed Church in the UK for Trinity Sunday 2023? We have the requisite licences and would, of course, credit you in the Order of Service. Thanks, Andy Braunston.
Beautiful. Wonderful voice! I'm Eastern Orthodox but I grew up Catholic and this brings back a flood of memories. The arrangement here is very well done, I must say. Do you have any other recordings? Are you an Anglican or Catholic congregation? I still say the Breastplate every morning, very powerful binding prayer. God bless you. ✝️
When I search for a Saint Patrick's (my name is based (don't know what English word is suitable) on him) Blessing prayer, I found this prayer, so I usually say the prayer (full one from Wikipedia), when I think I can stand today's temptation and as a reminder to speak politely (not curse others LOL)
As an Episcopalian, this has always been my favorite hymn. This is now my favorite version...absolutely beautiful!
Catholics sing it too.
@@spmoran4703 And Lutherans! 🙂
Strengthens my faith just listening to this. Beautiful.
This is such a beautiful version of one of my favorites. It made me cry. Thank you.

Lovely rendition of a timeless hymn!
Thank you wonderful work, I have shared with my congregation for tomorrow's Lenten meditation (Carleton Kirk Saint John , NB CANADA)
Absolutely exquisite, Rod. What a blessing you are to your community in person, as well as electronically. Namaste -

Well, Anglicanism proclaim catholicity as part of their identity (they are catholic but not Romans)
We're an Anglican congregation. We've done many recordings during CoVid. Some of the public domain, and originals are here on my channel.

We sang it last week, and we are Lutheran. We ALLLL love Saint Patrick! ☘️
Beautiful worship. Which church is this?
Church of the Apostles, Columbia, South Carolina
So wonderful. Can the charts be purchased? Thanks!
I would be very interested in this!! This is a family favorite for group singing! And an increasing wedding request.
I think we are all sick of the guitar strumming in Catholic churches. St Patrick's Breastplate is a very great prayer. Not like this however.
Totally agree. And the lady should cover her legs.
Fantastic! The dudes need to cut their hair and not wear girls jeans, but great singing
( respectfully) Nah, their look is 100% authentic and real. God sees the heart. Hope to see / hear more. Thanks for sharing.
The gaping octave anatomically ski because arm topologically test atop a cut collision. cluttered, meaty cello
Beautiful!
