Autodesk will become a joke. Unless they do something breathtaking with their sculpting (mudbox), fx (bifrost), viewport rendering (MaterialX ?) and optimization.

Companies that incorporated autodesk in their pipeline would prefer to make in-house tools and stick to autodesk instead of completely replacing it(as it'd cost a lot to do that) but looking at how amazing sidefx is evolving with every update, it seems like its only a matter of time before that happens. Once houdini becomes all vulkan, it'll be the hottest talk of the town.
@@FullGardenStudent yeah. My company is still stuck to a good degree on Maya. Lots of effort was put in building the internal tools. I curse it every time I open hypershade.

It would need a reboot to be competitive. On the other hand, at each one of Houdini's iterations, I feel like a child before Christmas who cannot wait to play with his new toy ❤
The Amazing feature is never mentioned... The possibility to Indie Artists to get in contact with this Technology and produce for a reasonable price... I'm truly saying that because I'm not sponsored and I paid my Indie License and I cannot regret since I started to learn Houdini like a couple of years ago... Still amazing me how Complex and after a looong and hard learning process I still can trilled to learn because the complexity of the software but, even because the possibilites they unlock. Never loose the focus on Indie Community . Thank you !
@@crystalparticle7349 I hope you are right, but I could see people with zero art or technical 3d skills write prompts like "give me a 3d scene of a beach with palm trees and a large alien ship looming overhead. I want simulations for steam and energy rolling off the alien ship, and the palm trees and waves of the ocean blowing from the force of the nearby ship". So like in 2 minutes the AI will generate a gorgeous 3d scene, and us artists will just slow down the process.
AI is not just about art, it can be used in many other aspects, AI is already used in rendering denoisers, and probably in various other aspects like animation etc, you can integrate it in simulations and it will determine the supposed path of the particle, helping in faster simulations, lets face it AI is after all a fragment of human creativity created by human creativity, it will probably never reach our expertise by 100% @@PandaJerk007
@@romancech2723 which studios use Max beside Scanline and Blur? Max was widely used, yes. But Maya has taken it’s place since ages and it’s a totally different story today as Houdini seems to be the preferred choice for scene assembly and lighting. Even above Katana sometimes. At least in Europe. Because it’s truly procedural. I don’t know exactly what the current situation in Asia/US is, but from what I talked with some artists Gaffer is rarely used, Katana is used a lot, Maya still is, but I never heard 1 person say he/she loves working in Maya. Max is still widely used in Arch Viz but less and less in VFX/Games besides maybe modelling and a bit of FX. Yeah tyFlow, Pheonix etc are amazing, but I think Houdini has a more solid point for documentation/community etc. Houdini really lacks at destructive modelling/sculpting but maybe H25 will also have that in the future lol
Is it hard to learn? I wanna learn it but it seems daunting especially because of the fact that I see a lot of people using code in Houdini and I don't know anything about coding beyond printing "Hello world" .

With the new animation tools it is game over for everyone else...There's literally no need to use any other 3d package, and don't start with Cinema 4D mograph...Houdini can do superior effects with point wrangle and noise maps
Wow! I spent a couple of weeks developing feather tools since 19 didn't have one and I couldn't afford any plugins. Good to see it happening from sidefx. It's been long overdue for quad remeshing.I remember the painful days of creating quad remesher tool from Junichiro Horikawa's 3 hour long video back when I had very little knowledge about vex.
Not as flashy as previous sneak peaks but it is really nice to see the work that is being done on Karma! Also the ragdoll and fluid stuff is also really cool :)!
But what else do they want if they have all the tools already, it is important to know that the following updates will be for karma, the only thing left is for us to have a 3D tracker and we will be complete
The ripples looks awesome, I am just working in something very similar right now and it look so much easier to do with the new update. Eager to put my hands on it.
Amazing. Simply amazing. Can't wait to be more than a noob at this program because there is infinite potential. The bubble solver is the thing I'm most excited about. There's no way I know of to do that kind of sim.
