I think you made a point that is quite underrated. "I've played a lot of RPGs with very extensive customization options". Exactly this. It's nothing new and nothing short of a reasonable standard in RPGs. I think it's about time they drop the idea of having the player play as an existing 'main character' and start realizing that there are many long term fans of the franchise, and we want to be 'us' in the Pokemon world. Let us decide an age for example. Give us 3 base models: teen, young adult, senior or something. They should take a look at how Elder Scrolls Online build their outfit customisation system. Styles to unlock, colors to unlock, etc. This gives value to grinding certain things in the game and creates more 'end game content' in a way. I think they should go wild on customisation in the next games. We deserve it 😅
I agree that more hairstyles would be beneficial. But also Pokemon has been the best with diverse black hairstyles. Especially in characters outside of the main character. In ScarVi alone we got cornrows, Bantu knots, fade cut, Afro, small dreads (twist). Sounds like little but it’s rough out here in gaming streets when these games, I felt were the best at providing a variety in hair for black people. Gamefreak does their research. Gotta give em credit.
We should absolutely get the option to have facial hair since there were in fact grown adults in both the Galarian Gym Challenge and the UVA/Naranja Academy uniforms. Maybe they could ask at the beginning if it’s your first time playing Pokemon so instead of being a child going out for the first time maybe we could be research assistants who also get to partake in the gym challenge as it would be a new region for us the character. As for Legends Z-A I would think the customizations would be there since gen 6 introduced them and it is Paris the epicenter of fashion.
SV couldve been nearly perfect for me if it wasnt for the godamned uniforms lmao. hopefully they can keep the good stuff from that game and bring back clothing customization, if not in ZA then in gen 10. I also think some less physical character customization options like pronouns and such would be sick. i also think even if the protags are younger (15-18) we could still see some facial hair customization.
As far as the age thing, it's too bad they cant do an age slider for like 10-21 and have like child like designs below 15 and adult like for above but keep wild hairstyles
I thought the schools in scarlet and violet were supposed to be boarding schools. A new student at a boarding school is somewhat likely to be about 12. Also, as much as I love pokemon as an adult, the target audience for these games are children. The target audience has always been children, usually between 11 and 15.
I don't see why they wouldn't include character customization. It was part of the original, as well as in Legends Arceus. So I believe they would include character customization. It would be great if they had clothing options different than what they had in the original games, in accordance with the time period that the game would be set in. It would be great if we didn't have to play as a child in the Pokemon games. I agree with broadening the options as far as physical features are concerned. Scarlet's and Violet's character customization was pretty good (aside from the school uniform). Galar's, Hisui's and Alola's character customization was pretty good as well. But Kalos's character customization is top tier. Hopefully they give us some better options this time around. Hairstyles, clothing, and stylizing our character down to the eyebrows would be simply fantastic! Accessories would be great as well, like or such as: necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings, etc. Since they're taking extra time to develop the game, maybe things will be better in this game (most likely)! It will be great! ☺️
My dream character customization for pokemon is just having the absolute bonkers SWSH clothing options with SV's facial customizations, why on earth am i shackled to a uniform in SV is still beyond me :')
My guess is the coding was just too much with all the new customization on the physical character that they couldn’t fit in the code for more clothing.
Say what you want about SWSH, (I love that game btw) but it had the best customization I’ve ever seen in a Pokemon game. But then SV just says, “nope! No outfits for you!” LIKE WHY?! I play Pokemon and video games to *escape* school not be forced into uniforms for the rest of time!!! ☠️😡
@@SoulStoryMode The most I hope out of most games nowadays are for them to be complete and have a smooth framerate. Otherwise I expect nothing which makes it more fun to be shown some cool stuff. I ignored leaks to gen 9 and loved Area Zero even more because of it.

I used the PLA cusomization to make an interaction on the Lucas clothing from platinum.
