Eddie Van Halen made all of music cool for me from toddler-hood. Period. He still is my favorite today.
Wait...the OFFICIAL EmperorTigerstar?!
EmperorTigerstar I always forget you lurk within the depths of Mike’s comment sections, and every time I rediscover you I love it!
Eddie’s great, problem is the band around him kinda sucks.
Yes me too the fact he didn't mention Eddie is short sighted .l know we have our personal gods.eds playing and songwriting guitar the brown sound people sought that sound Steve Vai is awesome player but his songwriting isn't good did not get into Zappa if it weren't for crossroads David Lee Roth bill and teds bogus journey or maybe g 3 Steve would still be on the label that released flexible he is not a great song writer Eddie is this isn't a contest but I haven't heard him Menton vh that's a huge oversight John petruccis songs are boring from what I have heard Mike is an opinionated guy who plays in his room and talks like he plays on stage.thrre is a big difference he never mentions this I think his big lists are his personal taste not groundbreaking history as he alone claims.

You should definitely make a power rangers theme cover
That ron wasserman mention was completely unexpected, but it was Justice
Power Rangers straight up introduced an entire generation of kids to metal
2 most feviourite and influential players:
1) Marty Friedman
2) Jason Becker.
Cacophony is amazing
Marty is an alien and Jason is so Godlike it backfired and put him in a wheelchair.
Absolutely agree. Jason is my number one.
Perpetual Burn is next level
Johhny Ramone is too influential to be put on the list
And too good for it. Petrucci ain’t got shit on The Ramones
Steve Vai? Pfft Johnny Ramone downpicking is more complex than anything Vai has done let me tell ya.
I know this is a joke but Johnny Ramone was actually very influential.

Fripp is far above Alex lifeson in the prog world imo
Syn gates got me into guitar (: , plus countless others after
Gates is a Solid player!! He was able to fuse emo, hardcore and metal in a way that was accessable, marketable and actually showcased a lot of virtuosity while doing it. He also has a free guitar school on his website that shows a lot of really helpful skills for new guitarists!
@@andysixxlett2632 His guitar work on The Stage album is so fuckin' good. Hes gotten so good in the last 5-6 years. Almost guitar god level. Even Mike said that in a video
I'm a 14 year old boy from Norway. My dad got into metal in 7. grade with Metallica. He got me into Metallica my first semester of 7. grade. That same semester I started playing guitar inspired by James and Kirk. My dad got me in to them by playing their music in the background while i was doing other things. I was a big fan of Kiss and had hoped to see a "kids react to" video on them. Since it wasn't a video on them at that time I ventured in to some of the other bands i'd heard of videos. Then I stumbled into your reaction videos on their videos. First one of yours I saw was the one on them reacting to Metallica. Then you made a video on Avenged Sevenfold. Which I want to thank you for. They are know my favorite band and have been for two years. Syn is now one og my biggest gest inspirations. If you took the time to read this, you have some serious problems. I'm just kidding. But anyway if you read this thank you for changing my life.
Awesome video, man, that honorable mention blew me away, I never knew!!!
Man I remember watching your John Petrucci interview and it remains my favorite video on your channel Mike.
My top 10
10.- John Petrucci: Only musician i know that i can enjoy all his compositions.
9.- Jimmy Page: Riff God/Thief God
8.- Mikael Akerfeldt: Emo God. Steven Wilson's Sasuke, or the other way around
7.- Steve Morse: Vibrato Titan
6.- Guthrie Govan: Everything Titan.
5.- Synyster Gates: Vibrato God
4.- Dave Murray: Cool
4,5.- John Frusciante: Cool strumming
3.- Angus Young: Cocaine God
2.- Slash: Made me pick up the guitar
1.- Brian May: Probably the first electric guitar i heard in my life, even before i can remember, because my dad was always a Queen fan. Sometimes i even think that i was always attracted to guitar because of me listening to Brian May's unique vibrato since i was inside my mom's uterus.
I definitley agree with number 1 because if it werent for this dude i wouldnt be playing guitar
Coda Brian May is horribly underrated. I’d put him in the top ten guitarists of all time. Listen to his solo stuff if you haven’t, cause it’s actually fantastic
lmao cocaine god
Angus was never on the pill.
@@josiahprofenno4136 You want to repeat that?
The guitarist who influenced me most was James Hetfield. His whole style just vibed with me and I've felt a deeply rooted connection with most of his compositions. But Jason Newsted inspired me to migrate to bass. He and Cliff actually. Their styles are some of the best in all of bass.
me, a prog, jazz and classical fan and the guy who actually made me pick up the guitar was Kurt cobain
Still a better character development than most JoJo part 3 characters
@@Sam-qc6sz They did Joseph dirty in part 3
@@nishant2279 Really, how come? I think they did him dirtier in part 4 xD
Personally in part 3 I saw him as more of a continuation of the Joseph we knew in part 2, except a bit "wiser" and less brash
The guitarists that made me want to start playing is
Kurt Cobain
Mike McCready
Jerry Cantrell
Dan Auerbach
Chris Shiflett
And Kim Thayil
The 90s rock bands really inspired me and made me take music more seriously
Judas kiss riff after "bow down" still gives me chills. James is the best riffmaster bar none. And no other riffmaster now would exist without him. Plain and simple.
10)Joe Satriani
9)Brian May
8)Nuno Bettencourt
7)Jimmy Page
6)Santana
5)Randy Rhoads
4)Zakk Wylde
3)David Gilmour
2)John Frusciante
1)Jimi Hendrix
hey mike, hope all is well. just wanna say that I absolutely love that you always include musicians that worked on soundtracks (tv, games, etc) and other forms of music besides what it's considered traditional. Growing up in Brazil I didn't necessarily get the same shows - or games -, or at least not at the same point in time, but I was always psyched on the theme songs off the ones we got, never really knowing who was behind them (this is pre-internet, I might add). Anyways, mate, thanks for always putting on wide ranging content, even though you're such a snob haha. cheers
Ralph Macchio is the most underrated guitarist in the industry. He famously defeated Steve Vai in a guitar duel and sent him walking off the stage.
For influences I’d probably have Hendrix, David gilmour, Eddie Van Halen, Hamfield, Synyster gates, Brian May, Rory Gallagher
And of course Mr Kupris
Conor Murphy what about lil Wayne
Mohammad Hakami I would never be so blasphemous as to imitate a god.
Great list.
Cyberdemon Mike Wut!?
Congrats on 150k mike, well deserved
CONGRATS!!!
Great list!
Jason Becker for his articulation and interesting melodies, and his neoclassical style, Paul Gilbert for his mid 80s chaotic yet so clean and perfectly executed solos, those 2 guys are special to me as being the most influential guitarists
My List (Its hard to think of who to put on a list)
10: Tom Morello (On the bottom because I like his riffs but his hip-hop fusion style isn't really my thing)
9: James "J.Y." Young (His phrasing and note choices gave me goosebumps, and that was before I started playing)
8: Alex Lifeson (What can I say, dude knew how to make atmosphere)
7: Eddie Van Halen (Come on, its EVH)
6: Stevie Ray Vaughan (His speed blew my mind when I first heard him, man lived and breathed blues)
5: Gary Moore (First person I heard that really made the guitar speak)
4: Tom Scholz (Great songwriting, he made all of the parts fit so well)
3: Jerry Cantrell (His phrasing is always cool, love his riffs that combine blues and hard rock, sometimes metal)
2: Eric Clapton (I always loves his blues rock style, some of my favorite solos ever)
1: Kim Thayil/Chris Cornell (Listing them together because Soundgarden is my favorite band and the reason I wanted to play in the first place. You couldn't have had one without the other here. Kim's outlandish phrasing, style, and riff writing and later Chris' riffs spoke exactly to the type of music I want to write and play.)
My Top Three is John Petrucci, Joe Satriani, and Steve Vai. John I basically wish I could write like haha, I love his shredding and melodic soloing, how he incorporates both in great ways
I discovered Steve Vai because of John Petrucci, and the G3 concerts they did with Joe Satriani and their covers of Jimi Hendrix songs.
I started guitar and heavy s*** with Jimi since my dad was into it and also played guitar.
Too bad he was always closed to Heavy Metal music... We could've bonded a crapton on it.
Anyways, all of these guitarist were influential to me, without forgetting Steven Wilson's Swedish Booty Call and the Iron Maiden troops for the most part.
Cheers from France! 🍻
@@DarthWinterMadness Same thing with my Father. I know, right?! What gives with that??
You inspired me to pick up a guitar and really try to understand it you pointed me in a direction that showed me how much more there was to a guitar and music a whole. Love ya mike. ROCK ON \m/
My cartoon metal kick off was Knights of the round table and I totally agree with your point on unsung heroes.
Forever and always, Marty Friedman. Close second Randy Rhoads. These two showed me how to make technically proficient solos still sound musical, with more of an emphasis on melody and sprinkling in the bits of shred in between. In more modern times, Brendon Small, Matt Heafy, and Oli Herbert (RIP) have been my biggest influences. Guys that can really play but still deliver a great sense of melody have always been my favorites.
Top 10 influential guitarists/pairs for me as a listener and not a guitarist:
10. Corey Beaulieu
9. Tosin Abasi/Javier Reyes
8. Dmitry Demyanenko
7. Mikael Akerfeldt
6. Brent Hinds/Bill Kelliher
5. Lee McKinney
4. Tim Henson/Scott LePage
3. Christian Andreu/Joe Duplantier
2. Misha Mansoor (all of Periphery)
1. Jason Richardson
All developed my ear for music or influenced my music taste in some positive way. They also wrote some badass riffs that I love to this day.
Michael Davis I agree. I think he’s an incredible guitarist. Insane shredder.
@Michael Davis Agreed! He's probably in my top 3
Brent Hinds doesn’t get enough love. He is one of the most unique guitarists out rn, and bill might be the best riff writer of the last 15 years.
David Gilmore and Alex Lifeson have been huge influences for me. Thanks for sharing your favorite guitarists; nice video!
Knowing how you're totally open about your not liking Dime's tone, I sat fingers crossed in hopes that you may include him on your list. And you did! And not only that, you particularly referenced the solo from FLOODS!!🤘🤘 solo brings me to tears every time
Frank Zappa is a truly underrated guitar player, in my mind. One of my all time favorites. Same applies to Dweezil!
I'm curious about Vai though. I've never really listened to his music a whole lot, aside from a few songs here and there. Any album recommendations on where to start with Steve Vai?
Agreed. Franks solo on Montana is a underrated piece of art!! Also, for Vai I either suggest passion and warfare, or alien love secrets
The person that first inspired me to pick up a guitar was John Frusciante. The reason was because most of his stuff sounded awesome but also felt like it was possible, I felt like I could play what he was playing.
I can only think of 3 guys
1. Slash
Seeing a live-show dvd of him with Guns n Roses made me want to learn to play guitar
2. Ian D'Sa
When I quit guitar lessons because I was lazy at learning for it and picked up the guitar for myself again a year after that, I needed something challenging but easy to play. So with the rather unusual chords Ian uses (I know he uses the same chords all the time) and his arpeggiated riffs he was a good restart for learning and some are still pretty difficult (Navy Song e.g.)
3. Mark Knopfler
I just really like the solo in the live version of Sultans of Swing
I totally echo all of your remarks about Petrucci and Dream Theater. My musical tastes and preferences have expanded so much since listening to them. Before that, I was strictly listening to Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed and Slipknot and nothing more, and while I still love those bands, there is so much more music that I listen to now that I would never even subject myself to if I hadn’t started listening to Dream Theater and John Petrucci. He deserves every single bit of praise and recognition he gets.
Marty friedman
Heard his tornado of souls solo
It made me want be able to do it and gave me a burning passion to play
2-3 years in that passion is still there and I've improved a ton played various gigs, I'm still not good enough to play that solo, but I swear that I will conquer it one day soon.
Marty needs to get more love
Yah Tornado of Souls! 🤘
Easily my favorite solo to play. Still can’t 100% nail the sweeping but I’m getting there
He is a virtuoso , much better than most thrash guitarists, like shitty Kerry king, but I think he's influenced by orient music and symphonic metal, he uses weird exotic scales like Hiroshi Japanese pentatonic and double harmonic minor , and he sweeps alot,
My list would probably be:
1 James hetfield
2 Brian may
3 Slash
4 Eddie van Halen
5 Mark Knopfler
6 Kirk whammet
7 David Gilmour
8 (bass) Cliff Burton
9 Jimmy Page
10 Dimebag
Slash may not be the best technical player but the way he just looked and played like a straight badass made me and a lot of other people want to pick up the guitar
@@alexgaona8299 absolutely!
SO happy to hear your opinion on Floods! Been trying to get my friends into that song for months and they just don’t get it
Thank you for introducing me to Steve Vai man, life changing shit! I'm surprised you didn't have Zappa on the list anywhere
"Dimebag Darrell wrote two of the greatest solos..."
You'd better say "Floods."
"The first is..."
Huh.
"And the second is 'Floods.'"
GODDAMN ELECTRIC.
P.S. Hetfield and Akerfeldt are the great twin beasts of heavy metal. Others have had the fortune of being born when Beethoven and Chopin were composing. You and I have the good fortune to have been alive during Metallica's and Opeth's existence.
xD The solo on Goddamn electric was played by Kerry King, I'm serious.
@@arthurabbott4792 My memory tells me that sounds right.
Synyster Gates. He may not be the best or the most popular, but he was the first guitarist I truly felt. He will always have that special spot though I've come to love and learn so much more "guitar gods" since then.
Did NOT expect a shoutout to the We'll Meet Again solo! One of my favorites
Love your list. I think it really depends a big big deal on when you discovered a certain guitarist in your life. Another thing would be the personal skill level of the person making such a list. Growing up through my teens in India, a lot of Indian guitarists inspired me greatly in more than just guitar playing. Hence my list:
1. Susmit Sen (Indian Ocean) - first guitarist I air guitarred to! lol
2. David Gilmour -
3. Bob Dylan - made me pick up the guitar actually start writing songs
4. Eric Clapton - blues + sing
5. Mikael Akerfeldt - including softer interludes in my writing
6. Baiju Dharmajan (Mother Jane) - Carnatic influenced metal guitar God
7. B.B. King - damn those blues
8. Harris, Murray, Smith (Iron Maiden) - riff writing
9. James Hetfield - riff writing (I too have to try really hard to avoid my songs sound like him)
10. Yngwie Malmsteen - classical inspiration
Hearing Beast and the Harlot in high school was the first time I started paying more attention to guitar work. Props to Synyster Gates 👍🏿

-Van Halen
-Rhoads
-Dimebag
-Iommi

-Hendrix
Thank you so much for your list and your thoughts! I'm always interested to hear someone else's story through music and how it all happened, and it was a real treat to hear yours, so thank you for taking the time to sit down and tell it.
For me it was Stevie Ray Vaughan. I grew up with everything from Tom Petty, Queen, Bob Dylan, Supertramp, Pink Floyd, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, and it was Stevie Ray's flood of power and passion that made me pick up the guitar. I just absorbed so much of his attitude; his phrasing and his violence, and over time so many other players have left indelible marks upon me for their many reasons, but he was the first and his impact will always be the strongest.
If you're interested, I did a video of my top 5 favorite, which are also the top 5 most influential (same thing to me)

Question for all the guitar lovers here, I'm one of them, why is there so little love for Satriani as a guitar player? I mean he has been out there since the middle 80's and is still going strong in his 60's. Is he to easy on the ear? Not heavy enough? If you look at his skills as a player and a song writer he should be getting more respect, but everyone seem to like to hate on the man. He was Vai's first teacher and they have huge respect for each other. So what is the problem with Satriani?
Satriani is awesome
I am really curious to hear Mike's thoughts on categorization within the guitar world. More specifically, do you think that virtuosi of the electric guitar (such as Steve Vai, Dimebag Darrell, Tosin Abasi, John Petrucci or Guthrie Govan) should be included in the same category as the early pioneers of the guitar (like Django Reinhardt, Robert Johnson, Lightnin' Hopkins or Lead Belly)? The discussion could be extended further to classical masters (like Segovia, Tarrega, Pepe Romero, Yepes or John Williams).
When analyzing "greats", do you think they should all make up the same category or should there be a distinction between different forms of the instrument?
Cool show, Mike. miss the bourbon though. Here's to hoping you do a show on your 5 most influential bands. In that I mean not just the guitar player. Cheers!
my top influential ten are probably:
1. jimi hendrix (probably my favorite musician of all time, he was incredibly unique and talented)
2. brian may (he’s what got me into guitar and queen got me into good music in general)
3. jimmy page (cause i mean, i love led zeppelin and hes insanely talented)
4. david gilmour (i love pink floyd and i love all of his solos. what he does with his guitar is amazing)
5. george harrison (the beatles were my very favorite band for years and years, i grew up on their music)
6. slash (i mean, come on! he’s a legend!)
7. kurt cobain (he single handedly got me into grunge and i love his work)
8. pete townsend (the who is great! he’s really cool)
9. eddie van halen (very iconic and once again, very talented)
10. jerry garcia (i love love love the grateful dead, he made more of a lasting impact than i think people give him credit for)
Tony Iommi is the one who inspired me to pick up the guitar. He's amazing on so many levels.
Same! My number one..
Marty Friedman's solo in Tornado of Souls is what made me pick up a guitar. That solo is mind-blowing even to this day. 3 years in my favourite has shifted to being EVH
I'm so happy to see you appreciate Floods. That guitar solo made me play guitar and actually try to be good
For me:
10.-Adam Jones
9.-John Frusciante
8.-Johnny Greenwood
7.-Marty Friedman
6.-Gustavo Cerati
5.-Andy Summers
4.Dimebag Darrel
3.-James Hetfield
2.-Tom Morello
1.-Johnny Marr
Mine would probably be (in no particular order)-
Hammett- showed me that there is more to guitar than just chords, introduced me to guitar. Wrote solos like creeping death and shortest straw that changed my way of looking at guitar, wrote riffs like damage inc and sandman and puppets and disposable heroes that blew me away at that time.
Het- influenced my riff writing and playing a lot, I found his riffage beyond his time. Almost like they were the pioneers and ambassadors of new modern metal waves.
Marty Friedman- showed me that always just shredding is not playing guitar, taught me to incorporate my trained knowledge of Indian classical music into my guitar playing, showed me how one finds their own sound.
Steve vai- Just....wow. this mans writing, I found it so weird, the more it intimidated me, the more it intrigued me and I got into it.
petrucci- ......petrucci.
Joe duplantier - riff writing madman. My favorite band of the 2000s. His vocal and playing sync is just so perfect. His riff writing is just so unique. First time I heard heaviest metter of the universe, I could almost feel the gravity of the song pull me down to the ground. His coordination and precision with the rest of the band, especially with his brother Mario, is commendable.
dimebag- what a man. What a man. His playing just captured me instantly. His riffs blew my socks off. Floods and cemetary gates made me feel for a guitar solo for the first time. He just shows that you dont need to live a long life to form an eternal legacy.
Cliff burton- Same thing as above like everybody, but for bass this time. This time, he made me understand how I could incorporate my WESTERN classical knowledge into rock and metal to make it interesting, a concept that I later dwelved deeper into with patrucci and Guilbert.
Mustaine- his riffs sounded like solo licks to me for the first time. He knows how to make riffs intriquite, complex, and technical, yet still groovy like the Metallica and pantera stuff. Also, after almost 15 people leaving a band of 4 guys, and the band still sounding good, just shows that Dave knows the best of the best in the industry. Not a fan of his early voice except some songs like holy wars, poison was the cure, rust in piece, skin o my teeth etc. But I like his newer vocal style much more.
Its quite funny that you showed a clip of fear of the dark, which was written by janick gers, the only maiden guitarist you didn't mention haha!
This is a really solid list! I'm curious as to what your thoughts on Eddie Van Halen are!
10: Chris DeGarmo
9: Nick Drake
8: Axel Grassi-Havnen
7: John McLaughlin
6: Dimebag
5: Allan Holdsworth
4: John Petrucci
3: David Gilmour
2: Elliott Smith
1: Jim Matheos
Finally! Someone else who loves Chris DeGarmo!
Mahavishnu usually doesn’t get the love, even though he was one of the first great fusion players.
@@CorbCorbin although I love MVO, I love JM's work with Miles Davies the most. You're right though, they're super underrated - Billy Cobham and Jan Hammer especially, as well as the violinist who came later, Jean-Luc Ponty (although I prefer his solo stuff such as the album "Cosmic Messenger").
The Chicken Nugget of Fate
Well, he is/was the Mahavishnu John McLaughlin, that’s why I used the term. His work with Miles even changed how Miles thought of music.
too few people realize how much of a fucking monster elliott smith was on guitar
1.Malcolm Young, can't put into words how much his playing inspires me
2.Rory Gallagher
3.Angus Young

Cool list. Great video bro.
Hetfield is the reason I started playing guitar.
i finally picked up a guitar two and a half months ago, and it was because of Jerry Cantrell
i'd say Brian May first piqued my interest, though i never had enough confidence to actually try until recently
James Hetfield and Randy Rhoads are 2 others who both stand out to me
all i have are 2 classical guitars, so if anyone knows good songs for me to learn to help me improve, i'd appreciate it. i just learned The Rain Song :) it's a little hard to learn Pantera riffs on there, lol

Muddy Waters
Listing a top 10 for me would be hard since there is a lot of guitarist who inspired me
I love that Muddy Waters is on your list. I'm not a player, but i love the blues. He and Freddie King are hands down my favorite players in blues.
That was six so you’re going to prison.
Conor Murphy Aw shit
Jason G Yeah Muddy Waters, along with Hendrix, is what got me to really dive into blues music
Dude, Will Swan is by far the best guitarist in the post hardcore genre. He's sooo underrated and I wish more people checked him out
Hey Mike,
How would you like to do a video on how to make concerts great and memorable? Maybe also talk about some of your best concert experiences you've had? I think it will be very interesting and awesome
Love adam jones minimalism and percusive playing style. I also really respect how he is allways serving the song and never tries to overshadow the rest of the band. Also fascinated by Daron Malakian. His punk rock attitude fused with a decent technique, weird rythms, and overall corkiness is really something
Alex Lifeson. But the player that inspires me the most is Trey Anastasio
Have to say I’m a bit disappointed to see Lil Wayne so low on the list
Great list! My only add would be Alex Lifeson. Such a huge impact on me.
I'd say this is a pretty solid list!

As someone who is interested in learning to play guitar, I am working with a pretty limited budget, can anyone recommend an electric guitar for around $200? I would be willing to go a little higher but this is something I want to dip my toe into before taking the plunge with more expensive equipment. Any recommendations or pointers are welcome.

Misha and Mark are my biggest inspirations atm, they introduced whole new worlds of music to me (dj0nt, electronic music production in metal, and the use of guitar for ambient music). Other than them, I'd probably say the guys from BTBAM, SikTh and Animals as Leaders (Javier especially) are my biggest inspirations.
Who inspired me?...
For a long variety of way different reasons, that go from technique to expression, from writing to feelings, I think that my top ten includes:
David Gilmour, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Janick Gers as a unit (Iron Maiden is and always will be my first true love), Chris De Garmo, Steve Lukather (probably the most versatile guitar player I've ever heard playing), Mark Knopfler (Brothers in Arms still brings me to tears often, as a song), John Petrucci (specially and particularly in Images and Words and Awake), Steve Vai (the most exquisite man to ever pick up a guitar, hands down), Alex Lifeson, Jerry Cantrell... and uhmmmmm.... Andre Oblrich from Blind Guardian... I will owe you the order... and as I wrote at the beginning is a mixed bag of reasons why I love these musicians so much, but mainly it has to do with what they are able to generate within me, in the middle of my chest... I have no other explanation.
Mine in no order:
Tremonti & Kennedy
Hetfield & hammett
Morello
Gilmour
Evh
Hendrix
Brian May
Cantrell
Paige
Iommi
Most influental guitarists for me would be sth like:
1. Ritchie Blackmore
2. Rory Gallagher
3. Eddie VH
I loved that you included players from my two favorite bands Metallica & Iron Maiden. What I like most about them is that their music is melodic and catchy. You can hear almost every note they make on their instruments and that makes hearing their songs a delightful experience, and that is the opposite of what many other bands do with their music where their riffs or solos seems muffled in places. That why I think many new guitar players tend to try and emulate their music. Another player that i like that fits that description is Slash. Just my 2 cents.
I was 11 years old and my older brothers brought home British Steel, Back in Black, VH 1&2, and Boston. I continue to be influenced by and learn from others, but so many lessons learned, and in the end, I want to have the creativity of an early VH and the way a guitar should sound is Tom Schulz’ Les Paul. Ive spent so many thousands seeking tone and I recreate the Boston sound over and over.
Based on your thoughts on the rolling stone video, I'll be suprised if Lifeson doesnt appear here
I was inspired after my first Metallica show to pick up the guitar
Chronological list of guitarist that shapes my guitar-listener journey:
5. the shredders (thanks to Guitar Hero!): Herman Li / Joe Satriani
4. the hard-rock: Slash / Angus Young
3. the blues: Stevie Ray Vaughan
2. the fusion / melodic: Guthrie Govan / Andy Timmons
1. the hip-hop / neo-soul: Tom Misch / Polyphia / Mateus Asato
next: no idea but can't wait to discover something new
Synester gates, Kirk Hammett and alexi laihio Definitely made me wanna play.
