@VVoOꟻF just trying to spread some love to everyone
Thank you! 👍
You too.
Now I won't cause you told me to.
Believe it or not, those kids in that high school gym were actually trying to play Walk by Pantera.
came here to say this
Recognized it instantly.
I was somehow able to figure that out too lmao
Is there no standard anymore?
I literally didn't recognize it
1:35 that's walk by Pantera the "a lesson learned in life" part
Oh God. It's absolutely, unrecognisibly awful.
@@daralenoach I recognized it instantly
I knew it was Walk. Poorly played but still I could hear it a bit
Holy crap. I never would have guessed that one...
You have ascended from “music snob” to “guitarist”. Maybe you’ll become the knight after a few more reaction vids
Everyone is so hyped about the album and I just feel like I've heard it all before.
For anyone wondering, he's literally heard the album already lol
@@BecomeTheKnight aww that sucks, wish I’d heard it too
Psh, that sounds like some favoritism to me...
I wish I was you Phil. 😀
Me praying that my band isn’t on here, then realizing I don’t have a band 😭
Thank God nobody recorded my band playing.
Thank god all my band mates mysteriously disappeared in 1994 while travelling through the wild Swedish forests.
@@conormurphy4328 howdy Varg Vikernes evil pagan knight himself
I am a huge fan of Burzum first album not so much anything after
@@MsCristyful I like me some of the songs on that record
That smells like bs to me. Why would that thought occur if you didn't have a band?
as a Christian, and a metalhead, I agree with you bro, if I want a song about a man rising from the grave, it better sound like a battle to the death
I feel the exact same way. It has been a long time since I’ve ever heard any actual musical or lyrical depth in Christian music

Recon,Sacred Warrior, and Jacob's Dream are some excellent Christian metal bands-check them out!
Paramæcium, Mortification, Living Sacrifice, Extol, Soul Embraced, Metanoia, Believer, Tourniquet, Crimson Thorn, Antestor, Crimson Moonlight, Immortal Souls
I'm an Orthodox Christian so I'm afraid I'm doing great going to church on Sunday music-wise hehe, but yeah, for my dear prots and Novus Ordo brothers in Christ, it's a bit frustrating isn't it?
Isn't it wild how that girl's voice is only slightly higher than James's.
She freaking kills that song too.
11:24 Mike's voice tone in "this guy is playing with the tree" is awesomely hilarious!
1:29 took me a good minute to realize that’s Walk
i feel like if the bass line wasnt there it would be completely unrecognizable
Lol, pretty sure the dude fighting with the tree is exactly what I look like trying to move my plants around. 😅😂🌴🌲
Same. And i only have a sunflower.
Mike: I wish I was that good at their age
Me: I wish I was that good now
Facts
I had never heard that interpretation of the 1st commandment before. That makes so much more sense.
I was corrected, it is the 3rd commandment. But yeah when I heard that it totally clicked
@@BecomeTheKnight where did you learn that stuff? Really interested in your opinions, you seem to have thought it through
@@F.-VonEverHeck I think I heard this on Prager U where Dennis Prager has a playlist about the ten commandments. Not saying Become the Knight got it from there, but I heard it there.
@@MusicalMarble Interesting, thanks!
*Definitely my favourite channel right now man❤️🤘🏿*
*love from Ireland 🇮🇪❤️*
Dang, I used to wear those Hot Topic pants. I bet they'll make a comeback in a few years! As a Contemporary Christian Worship Leader, I agree with the soullessness of a large majority of worship music. Similar to how I feel about most pop-country(copy paste lyrics, rhythms, progressions). There's the occasional banger, but it's become a business with not a lot of authentic poetry about the human condition. I guess the alternate argument is, worship music is written to be repeatable, sing-able, easy to follow. It's like teaching a congregation how to pray but through music, equipping them with tools. 4 chords and the Truth, but.... the occasional shred your face off solo wouldn't hurt. If God created music, he also created Steve Vai. Probably has Tender Surrender on repeat. haha
There's some interesting points in there.
I love that the camera shows the students reaction and they were not having it.
God literally brought that tree to life in that video in an attempt to stop them from embarrassing themselves
Nice David Fields themed shirt
I am so hyped for the album
@VVoOꟻF tomorrow
Check his insta
If only we knew 😔
@VVoOꟻF Not as bad as Tool though....
@VVoOꟻF same
The song that reminded you Happy Together was supposed to be Walk, which somehow makes it worse
That tree fighting hero had me DYING!
My issue with Christian music, being a Christian, is the fact that they rely on always having a Christian audience, which gives them an excuse to never have quality. However, I have seen some insane Christian musicians, including a woman whose voice absolutely blew me away.
That and another problem is they’re all just about the same sound wise.
I'm a die-hard Christian, and I will say contemporary Christian rock is one of the most boring styles of music known to man. It's like Coldplay had a kid with Arctic Monkeys and sang about salvation. Dark choir music on the other hand like Lagrime di San Pietro (Tears of Saint Peter), amazing piece.
My issue with it is that many of those bands that are relying on a Christian audience are blatantly ripping off secular music. Especially when it comes to Christian metal. I'm not talking about Stryper or Zao. I'm mostly talking about the Christian bands that do not market themselves outside of Christian music. I used to work with some born again Christians, and they brought in a bunch of the metal bands they like, and these bands were literally lifting riffs from Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Pantera. It's like they know their audience will never hear those bands, mostly because it is for the angsty teens who aren't allowed to listen to those bands. I thought the handbook had something against stealing, lol.
Isnt Stryper a Christian band. They're pretty good
@@wohnjick8833 They're good, but we're talking specifically about the soft contemporary cheesy stuff like Elevation Worship lol
11:23 THIS GUYS FIGHTEN WITH THE TREE
you're voice going up what seems like 300 octaves makes it even funnier 🤣
Gotta be honest, I liked the girl's singing better than Labrie's
Lmao same
I wish dream theater just picked a better dude to sing it’s kinda frustrating how huge the chunk of their discography is that I would absolutely obsess over if it wasn’t for his voice
Her name is Kala Rose. She's all grown up and her voice really has developed into something very enjoyable. She has plenty of stuff on YT....
That Dream theater cover by those kids was awesome 🤘
You should watch the full vid, it's awesome
@@RJWaynerium just watched it,holy moly 😳😳lol
Dream Theatre need to hire that kid as a vocalist!
I once threw my pick into the crowd at the end of gig and the crowd cleared out, and I watched in slow motion as my lonely pick hit the floor because NO ONE wanted it!!! LOL
I just laughed. Someone handed it back to me later as I was loading out my gear.
I lowkey really want to make an album now called the most dangerous kids in the cul-de-sac
👀
Not a bad concept for pop punk haha
Crusade straight SLAPS
Brooooo I remember those trip pants and would've absolutely worn them if my parents had let me lol
Brought a tear to my eye, from sheer hysterics. Brightened my day.
The Second clip was a crappy cover of “Walk” by Pantera.
Holy shit I literally had NO IDEA. Wooooow. (Not sarcastic)
That sounds really sarcastic lol
@@BecomeTheKnight that's actually sound pretty sarcastic 😂
It should be such a no-brainer and I'm so shocked I didn't identify it I don't know how to not make it sound sarcastic.
Love this channel the man Mike is funny as hell and entertaining to watch
Mike! Can't wait to listen to your album!
1:29 I'm gonna assume he's pretending he heard "Happy Together".
He has. It's on his "Shit I like" playlist.
@@rfrontany I'm talking about him hearing Happy Together instead of Walk being played in the clip.
He knew the song long before he did the video.
@@rfrontany nah mate.. you're not getting what I'm saying. I give up.

Disciple all day man🤘
Gotta say that single got me hyped as hell. This albums gonna be a banger

Snoop on 20th anniversary of Metallica is killing it.
I think the second band was actually trying to do "Walk" by Pantera lol
This is my first time seeing someone spit out their vape.
Haven't even gotten to the rest of the video yet, but I gotta say, that's a nice looking CD of the Crusade album. Very sparkly and clean looking.
"You are correct, sir" regarding the badassery of the kids performing Dream Theater.
The new album is exactly what I needed. That, and more Haken. Amazing stuff, excited to see what you guys do next!
My life has been complete shit for a month. But your channel makes it just a bit more tolerable. Thank you for doing what you do. I also love your laugh.
hope it's better since then
You are amazing man, best wishes to everything you do. Regards from Mėxico
snoop dogg lmfao i was not expecting that 💀
My youth choir had the piano collapse too but the dude playing on playing it on the floor until the end of the song
Those kids playing dream theater blew my mind
This might seem random but I appreciate that Mike says average height is 5'10. It makes me feel better... 😂
5’9 to 5’10 has been average for a long time lol
That sad but true was... interesting
Really loved Insatiable Mike, great guitar playing
I would love a video comparing bad Christian music with what he considers good Christian music.
I would love to see that too. There's some legitimate good stuff out there.
Skillet maybe?
There is this amazing Christian pop band called Opeth, their hymns sing me to sleep.
Nobody:
Mike: "J E E Z U H S S"
Those kids playing Dream theater have completely obliterated any amount of musical competence I have at 25 yrs of age...
11:20 you went full Chapelle.
Haha i fucking love your videos man , this was only your second video i have seen and i laughed my ass off so hard 🤣🤣🤣 keep going you are awesome
9:38 I have no clue how many times I replayed that, thank you Mike I haven't laughed this hard in months
Damn, that little girl completely outclassed James Labrie.
7:16 huge Dewey Finn moment
It's actually the 3rd commandment but you're very correct.
I appreciate the correction!
Im a dumbass fucking teenage metalhead, can confirm this is definitely me when I cover Nirvanas Smells Like Teen Spirit.
We're here for you
When I was a kid the songs used to be lyric swaps from famous artists from the 70s and 80s and maybe because of that I liked the songs, but nowadays, whenever my friends bring something new that we could play they kinda sound all the same and as you said they kinda feel soulless. Maybe I just feel nostalgic about the old songs and that's why I still enjoy them or maybe something fundamental about the process of making the songs has changed.
THIS GUYS FIGHTING WITH A TREE
REALLY GOOD ALBUM. Are there any physical editions?
HYPE for the album! Can’t wait to hear it and also I like watching fails, because it reminds me that I’m not the worst guitar player ever lol.
I know this is old, just started watching your vids, and admittedly had to check out your band to see if I respected your opinion and surprisingly really dig the band dude! Curious about your thoughts on Opeth? I feel like there's a touch of that in your stuff. Anyways keep the vids going man good stuff 👍
Plz make a video about your issues with worship music!!
Mike the type of guy to say “pardon the intonation” after humming to himself
Nice Ferris Buller shirt Mike lol
At 10:44 Mike describes the new GVF album. Seriously! Just heard it and THAT IS THE MOST PERFECT DESCRIPTION
That second clip was a sad attempt at Pantera's "Walk." And I only recognized it as such because I recently watched Leo from Frog Leap Studios do a cover of it, which made it fresh in my mind.
To be fair, Teramaze is a pretty cool christian band.
I didn't even know they're Christian. Which goes to show the music can stand on it's own.
I'm curious to hear your views on "Faith based" music. Wonder if it would be a broad stroke take or if you would narrow it down to a particular sound (i.e. rock, metal, traditional, etc...).
1:40 I believe the words you're looking for are "Happy Together" by the Turtles.
3:41 Nah, my shitty school band wanted to play stuff by Kiss and GNR, and then wondered why it didn't sound the same. Maybe it's because Ace and Slash could play, and I mean really play.
Is it on Apple Music?
It will be!
Just got the album and I love it. It came along side LTE3! If only my Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence CD can finally ship to me today my life will be complete
You remind me of myself, when I was a 13 year old metal head
Some of these are painful man!... the thing is we've all been this bad, just had the sense to not go onstage before we were ready, let alone get filmed and gone viral... ouch.
i love the t shirt :)) ferris bueller ur my heroo
Mike turned into Joe rogan when the guy was fighting with the tree
Can’t wait for the album 🤘🤘🤘
Me and all my friends are waiting for the 16th in anticipation
By the way that second one is a metal medley and the I can’t see me rhythm is supposed to be walk by pantera
Tosh.O did a great episode on it
The kids doing Dream Theater are amazing.
I legitimately thought that was St. Anger at 2:30 for a second there
Oh yea, you're correct sir.i had a pair of jncos for every day of the week.I was a 90s teen though.👍
If you ever got your album pressed into some records I would definitely buy 1 or 13 of them
Oh man you need to watch “looking for a city”
Not even going to try to hide it, I totally did that crowd dive when I was like 16 🤣
Don’t worry. There’s nothing wrong with that at all. Mike is devoid of any kind of joy that doesn’t involve the pain of others. It’s called fun. He should try it some time.
@@JamesSClapperton yeah Mike is a total douche canoe. One that I happen to love because he is unapologetically himself, regardless of others' opinions of him.
.... Congratulations on your arrival to the moment you realize you insulted a dude in front of a friend of his who happens to think very highly of him 😂 all good though. I'm sure he knows there are people who don't really enjoy his stuff.
Looking some of these guitar players makes me realize I need a lot of practice when playing, as I am trying to play for a small Church. But you fail and learn in music, so yeah.
1:31 I don't know how I was able to recognize it, but that was Walk by Pantera.
Bro, my high school band covered Smells Like Teen Spirit AND Dance of Eternity. Don’t get me wrong, Dance of Eternity wasn’t great, but we did it.

Hey Mike, will the album be available on Tidal?
Yes it will!!!
@@BecomeTheKnight Thanks, can't wait to listen it!

Hey become the knight, what are your thoughts on the stryper the Christian heavy metal band since you voiced you're opinion on the genre in this video.
