Wish I’d have seen this video last night. Drove 45 mins to menards to order 9 of these exact trusses. $565 and 5 day wait. Emailed this morning to cancel order. I’m guessing I’ll save around $450 (depending on restocking fee/refund) and have them built today. The sharing of your knowledge and details are very appreciated. Thank you!
Take your family out to dinner with the money you saved.
I'm an electrician , had my workshop built by Tuff Shed 20'x 30' feet , I decided to build an 8'x8' soundproof generator shed next to it, to back feed power to our home during power outages .
I live in Florida and we typically lose power for one or two weeks after storms, and we lose power during thunderstorms also. Your videos are a great value to me and many others, thank you.
Thinking of making a RUclips video of my sound proof generator shed design and features.
Kind words, thank you and you should post that video. Share with the world and let those that find value in it, find value. Peace.
The best demonstration and instructions for building trusses I have seen!
Kind words! Thnks
Do the gusset plates go on only 1 side?
Very nice and clear video! I'm building a chicken run and coop, 11 wide by 20 long, and the coop will make an ell at the far end of the run.
I've built most of my 11 trusses, but I'm now ready to put the bracing on the joints.
Two questions:
1. Whats the nice hand power nail(?) driver you are using to drive the nails? And what size nails? 2 or 2-1/2"?
2. You didn't brace both sides of the truss... should i brace both sides, or just one sude as your video seemed to indicate?
Love your videos. I'll be building a workshop this summer so I'll study your methods. Thanks for sharing!
Hope it goes well. Do lots of research!
Very informative Stan and another great video, looking forward to the next one.
Stay Safe.

Glad you enjoyed it
Subbed and liked. Thanks
great work. it reminded me of my building days when I lived in Canada. greetings from Brazil😅
Cool, thanks!
Do you need to attach them all to each other beside with the sheathing ?
Great video 👍
Thanks 👍
Good job!
Thanks!
Nice, Simple Easy 👍
That does tend to be my style!
@@simplyeasydiy and I for one (or many) appreciate that.
I'm building a shed currently and this is just what I was looking for. So you don't need to nail the truss all together? Just glue/nail the gussets to the top and you're good?
You got it.
Do you prefer the palm nailer over a nail gun for this job or is there really no advantage of one over the other?
Nail gun is faster. I had the nails I used on hand already instead of having to go out and buy that size nail for the gun. I would recommend the gun just for the speed aspect.
Is the top board of the rafters the 1/2 the length of the building including siding plus the length of overhang. I don’t know trying to build a pump house and can’t figure it out. Is this design different than a truss with a birdsmouth cut into rafters
No the bottom chord is the width of your building plus siding. The two top chords you can leave original board length and trim the overhang to your liking after installing the trusses on building.
This method is the easiest yet.
These trusses are with an overhang. If I don't want an overhang, do I just cut the top chords to the edge of the bottom chord? I'm assuming as I am new to this.
Yes
Did you use 2x6? If so, why? Just for added strength?
No, I didn't
I saw another video where he didn’t use the piece of wood on the bottom, he notched the 2x4’s instead. Not sure what the difference is, except less wood. Would love to know how it changes the math if you do it that way.
Those are rafters. These are trusses.
I must be a terrible woodworker, cus I didn't know about that specific 4/12 thing. I knew the technique but never learned the name or info on it
Whatcha gonna put in that shed?
Ice Cream Sandwiches.
@@simplyeasydiy Neapolitan?
Why is no bird mouth cut? I'm new to rafters.
These are trusses. Rafters are something different.
You skipped the coloring of your parts from your thumbnail...... I'm hoping for a colorful shed!🤣
That's a separate video...Hehe!!
23 & 13/16's WHAT IS THIS EVIL SPELL!!!!!
Bruh 🤣 I about lost it when I seen this comment.
Buhahahahahahahaha
