great pick, Ive had 2 of these rods. A small 5 foot one that the tip got broken (my fault) so i chopped it off and glued on a new eye. worked great untill it jumped out of my truck on the freeway. bought a 7 foot this time and still, these rods are worth more money than they cost. love the cork, they balance well and most important land fish.
thanks for sharing. Among my favorite rods are lower priced ones and enjoy so much when they perform as hoped for. Enjoy the Shakespeare micro series show. I have a friend who has fished those rods for many years. He has broken one, but keeps going back to them. Good do discover your channel.
This rod is stronger than you think you can actually catch bigger game on it also like large and small mouth bass even medium size catfish it's a great rod
If you're doing it specifically as a challenge, I'd go with a shorter version, like 6' or 6'6", and maybe a light instead of ultra light. If that's not the case, then no i wouldn't go after a gar with it.
I had the exact rod and broke the top 5 in off so now it's a six-foot-six I gave it to my cousin who loves to bass fish with it but I love the 7-foot series just like you got for crappie fishing a damn limber good rod
I just got into fishing and I have the same rod, I think it’s a medium action but I have 65 pound test line somehow you think I could catch some heavy fish, let’s say 6 pounds or less
@@mountainstomarshes8966 Maybe the rods where you're from are labeled differently, most of the ones i own are labeled on the rod itself as ""Medium Action" or "Action: Medium." These say "Ultra Light Action"
@@CheapAngler strange! Action has to do with where the blank bends. Fast action is mostly the tip, slow action is all the way into the butt of the rod. You can think of it as stiff vs noodle. That's bizarre that they'd label the rods essentially backwards!
here's a "power chart" that also refers to the power as action... www.fix.com/assets/content/15665/rod-power-001.jpg Looking at most charts, the more flex means slower speed, so I'm guessing the ultra light needs to be ultra slow.
I’ve caught a 5.5lb LMB on the 7ft light rod same brand you got on 6lb mono and wacky rigged creme night crawler worm and was the greatest fight now if I was fishing for LMB strictly on this rod then I’d prey that there was no snags they can get me into but for small to medium the rods great.
@@ishkhanishvili Line test. Lures are done differently. But 2.4g and under should be fine. I've thrown some heavier, but it doesn't really have the backbone for it
Good video, I own the 7 ft light rod microseries paired with an okuma alaris 2000 both cost around 45 bucks and works really great, I fish a 5.8 lbs Snook with that check my channel there is a good video :)
It's a great rod... But it's not going to last very long the way you're holding the rod straight up and down with all that weight of the 1 lb bass etc...on the tip of the rod..it's going to snap ❗❗❗

I have three of those rods. Love them!

I have that rod and it is well worth the money. Have caught many bass on it as well.
Nice catch im impressed by your video so ordered mine too thanks for sharing
What road crossing on what river?
San Antonio River, this was Concepcion Park
Paired a 7 ft light power fast action micro series with a shimano syncopate 1000fg love it.
Great spot and a cool setup !
Yeah I’m stuck on the 4’6 light rod. Catching 16 to 24 inch speck trout. Good fun fight on size 20 reel
The flex on that rod is wicked! Nice bass as well.
This makes me want to do some creek fishing! New sub!
Nice video, that rod seems a little more flimsy then I expected. How do you think it would do for crappie fishing?
It's perfect for crappie.
This rod is stronger than you think you can actually catch bigger game on it also like large and small mouth bass even medium size catfish it's a great rod
Perfect brother
Would it be a good idea to go for 40 inch longnose gar with this rod?I would use a professional reel with it.

@@CheapAngler challenge accepted.
Not saying this rod will handle the abuse time after time, but we landed a 40" musky on one jigging nightcrawlers for walleye

I stepped on mine! So it's now a 7 footer instead of a 7'6". I think it actually works better now
Great video man!!! Awesome review
First Flipp....Fish on!! The Finns where waitin' in line 4 a chance to Wack the Softie!! Looks like you had it made in the Shade!!
I got this rod and it felt like the front of the handle where the cork meets the reel seat was gonna break.
same mine was actually like bent and showing the inner rod
I have rthat od with a cheap little Kastking reel. Haven't used it yet though
nice fish
good video dude!

Ultra light...
@@CheapAngler that would be their power. Action is Fast, Moderate, Slow etc

Nice catfish/tilapia on that second hook-up. Lol
I found a 5 1/2 rod for 17 bucks
nice video :) big like : )
The 4 foot version is amazing for trout with 2lb test
could you tell me what is weight test for this rod?
2 to 6 lbs.
