Noticed you have a Rifles beret previous, if anyone asks you what makes a good rifleman "3 rounds a minute in any condition"

You may be able to fire 3 rounds a minute, but can you stand?

Been reading that book I recommend. Brilliant and insightful.
You ve passed soldier training. Next is officer training which is 44 weeks.
First 5 weeks of that will be hard and a big learning curve.
    Everyone wants success.
But I will say this speaking from my own life experience. You learn the most from failure about yourself and what you could of done better.
Failure is the greatest lesson embrace failure. If you learn from failure you will bounce back and be more resilient in everything you try. 👍🏻 🇬🇧 🙂
Everyone wants success which is obvious.
Myself I want the failure to learn from its the greatest lesson.
The major general says some officer cadets have never failed anything in their lives until being at Sandhurst.
If you get the book I suggested it will help you immerseley before Sandhurst and during training. Really gives you the heads up on the institution it's self as Sandhurst the academy seems mysterious until you pass through its gates. Sandhurst the myth, the stories/ the history/ the training / the course etc.
    Learn from failure
    Grow in character
    Personal development
    Leadership
    Change as a person.
Life changing it will be. 💂‍♀️🎶💪😒🙋
    Highs and lows.
    Just giving my advice.
    👍🏻🇬🇧💂‍♀️🙂

another good book to get and read before heading to Sandhurst is. The Habit of Execellence by lieutenant Colonel Langley Sharpe. Teaches about leadership with examples draw from the authors own experience and taught at Sandhurst. 👍🏻 🇬🇧 💂‍♀️

Get this book also before you head off to Sandhurst. It's called Stand Up Straight
10 life lessons from the Royal military academy Sandhurst by Major General Paul Nanson. 👍🏻 🇬🇧 💂‍♀️ 🙂.
I bought this book and you can apply these 10 lessons to normal life as well as Army life. 👍🏻🇬🇧

Sounds very similar to my time in the Malaysia Territorial Army. Not too surprising as it was originally set up by the British during their Colonial Rule. Still can't get used to the new name of Army Reserves for the British Territorial Army. Best part of my Terrier time was the joint training with the US Marines in amphibious assault exercises on the East Coast of Malaysia. Majority of the Marines were reservists too and very dedicated. Was surprised to find out that most of them had taken leave of up to 6 months in order to participate full time in these overseas exercises.

Just an opinion from a yank veteran, but if you're tolerating your first year fairly easily, i.e. you don't spend at least part of every day afraid you're gonna fail or die, you're probably not attempting a high enough level role for yourself. That may come later.

Hey, I've got my MOD 1 in Jan and was told to bring absolutely everything. My bergen is stuffed full just with my sleeping bag alone in it but no harm adding personal items you need to it if room in side pockets etc. My black kit bag is full so not much space left for other bits we need to get. When is your date and where?

Read this book by Heloise Goodley, published 2013, An officer and a Gentle women explains her journey through Sandhurst and then the field Army going to Afghanistan on tour and other places. Worth a read. Think it's about £8 on Amazon.

Just to be clear you're a reservist so you're not really in the army? Try going full time and having mortars blowing your mates up and report back on what it's really like to be in the army.

Have you ever experienced any abuse or sexual harassment as a reservist? I ask this in view of several recently report sexual harassments even at the level of a general, resulting in court-martials and dismissal from the service. As reported by the BMJ Military Health journal, of 750 female veterans surveyed, 22.5% reported that they had been the victims of harassment. Officers are not exempt from this, You have obviously worked hard to prepare for the army, and Sandhurst, and I therefore wonder how you feel about entering a profession where you have no recourse to the criminal justice system.
