      +187BURNZY They say, heaven's a place
Yeah, heaven's a place and they know where it is
But you know where it is?
It's behind the gate, they won't let you in
And when they hear the beat, coming from the street, they lock the door
But if there's no music up in heaven, then what's it for?

"When I hear the beat, the spirit's on me like a live wire!
A thousand horses, running wild in a city on fire!"
God, I love this band. I know there are loads of brilliant young bands out there, but these guys just touch me very deeply. I mean, Wake Up, Rebellion (Lies), Modern Man, this song, geeeeesh! They're so bloody great.

I've seen this video like 3 or 4 times. I like that they did something different. Not only are all of the celebrities in this video ones I enjoy in their respective shows, but I feel they are used to great effect. Who doesn't love bill hader and zach gallifianakis from their careers or especially their guest spots on comedy bang bang, Michael Cera from Arrested Development, etc. also, arcade fire is a phenomenal band and this album, while I didn't like it at first, has quickly become one of my all time favorite albums. I think this video shows the band has a great sense of humor and I applaud them for making a nearly 30 minute video that kills. If you don't like it, I'm sorry, but this is just amazing.

The Suburbs is a great album. Maybe did not have standout tracks as good as some off of Funeral but as an album from beginning to end it is just fantastic. The way the album goes through so many changes and styles without ever sounding odd or out of place is amazing - half light, month of may , we used to wait , deep blue, and then sprawl. LOVE The Suburbs

  • @cagonzl

A lot of people have criticized Arcade Fire for challenging traditional norms of music, but I definitely see where they are going with this album, postmodernism anyone? Where nothing is certain and categories have lost their meaning, where individuals live in a hyper reality, where anything can become anything. Arcade Fire is merely channeling what reality is becoming or what is left of the narratives or frameworks of meaning, reality and music, just look at for example of them entering a "Salsateque" club where clearly no salsa is played, canadian accent by james franco, spliced random clips of nonsense, a staged choreographed audience, spaced is occupied and meaning is altered and given new meaning.... this is the postmodern music video or is it?

I feel EXACTLY the same way about them! Especially the frontman, his vibe is so not getting along with mine. But their music is really good.

Hanan Andreea Bitar I really think it's mostly his stage persona. Check out some of his interviews, he's totally different.

Arcade Fire will never be as influential as Nirvana, period. Partly because Win continues to insist upon singing instead of writing the tunes and stepping aside. However, this ain't bad. Not "amazing", but a pretty good time with a fun video. It's time for the Millennials to find their Robert Lange-equivalent and kick some of these hipster bands up to the next level.

Kurt Cobain is a Pixie wannabe who can't sing. He was the anti-Rick Astley so he deserves praise for that, but musically, pretty thin

Both Arcade Fire and Nirvana have their merits, but they are completely different styles of music. To compare them at all makes about as much sense as comparing Motörhead to Bob Dylan.

this is such a rare thing that NBC did to have a visiting band music special right after their live show. I watched it as it ran, amazing.
NBC could try do this more often.

Hey. Old guy here. I like 'em. Gotta respect any artist that doesn't take themselves too seriously. A problem I see Bono has overcome nicely.
