    It would've been funny at the end if Joe had been the one who showed up to demolish the building. That alone could've extended this show another 2 and a half more seasons, making 7 full.

    This episode was intended as a possible series, rather than season, finalé, with the tearing down of the Quincy House representing the ending of the series, and all the talk by Rhoda of everyone having their memories of times past refering to events in previous episodes.

      the seasons of this sitcom seem to get better & better with time; what other series/serial might've done so too..? were productionists not following cleptoparasitic orders, then I wouldn't be marveling at this here outstanding entertainment...and I'm glad you mention its other contributors, because I'm convinced that most if not all of them had a hand at messing with their productionist's/s' bidding...sod marketeering corporateers! What you do is you open one jar, share out the contents among the five of you until that jar is empty, and then, if you're still hungry, or whenever you're hungry thereafter you open up ONE other jar, and so forth.
    Oh, and by the way, when you leave you CARRY THE FREAKING JARS back with you, instead of wasting valuable preserved peaches.

  • @michellepost5232
    @michellepost5232 4 года назад +5

    This was a really good ep, the storyline had a bit of mystery. It was something different. I thought Brenda was really selfish in eating that entire big candy bar. She couldn't wait? They didn't know how long they'd be there or when the rain would stop. I have brothers who eat less. She sure eats alot. That candy bar looked like a one pounder, too. That would make me sick, to eat it all at once. Usually, if a building is going to be torn down, anything in it gets sold at auction. Everything was still there, even those peaches. Rhoda seemed surprised the electricity was off, a bldg. boarded up for years would have all the utilities shut off. They didn't seem concerned about something to drink.

    Another written episode borrowed or recycled from another sit com. This is basically an episode from I Love Lucy, when Lucy, Ricky, Ethel and Fred are driving to California. Lucy takes the wheel because everyone is dead tired, and she's trying to make her way through the back roads of Pennsylvania or Ohio, & it is pitch black, and all 4 folks are starving. Lucy's misled by some old coot's sign that advertising food and lodging. When they arrive, there is nothing but the old coot who tries to sell them 2 year old wrapped sandwiches, living in an old shack

    • @TanjiThomason
      @TanjiThomason 4 года назад +5

      A lot of episodes are recycled. So what? It's a good episode.

    • @eduardo_corrochio
      @eduardo_corrochio 4 года назад

      It's also similar to the I Love Lucy episode during the Europe trip when the foursome are stranded in a cabin on a snowy mountain in the Swiss Alps. At one point Lucy hides food from the group and they soon hear her munching it.
      A lot of sitcoms in the 70's copied Lucy's sitcom sometimes. And there was an episode of Bewitched that was an affectionate homage to the Lucy chocolate factory episode; Paul Lynde even spoke exact dialogue lines from it.
      Nothing's original. Everyone borrows.
      I like that episode cited above, where the Ricardos and Mertzes head for Hollywood and get stuck at that dump with old cheese sandwiches in wax paper, and beds near train tracks. I still remember the road signs they kept seeing at the start of the episode-- "50 Miles to Aunt Sally's Pecan Pralines", etc.... LOL

    Pity the ending here is not intact. What can you do.
    Also, I hear that this was originally going to be the final episode of the series, and if that's true then it boggles my mind that they would not have somehow included Ron Silver as Gary in this one. Come on! For me, this series has mostly been about Rhoda, Brenda, Ida, Gary, and Carlton.

    I watch this series every year or two. It's a nostalgia thing. And every time I watch it I'm always disappointed with Season 4. The resolution is bad, Rhoda's face is fuzzy and gray w no color. It's like they really wanted to cut corners the last year. EXCEPT this two part episode. It's the same quality as before, all the faces have color and life and the picture resolution is so much better. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this. I also think Valerie harper may have lost too much weight and fullness in her face. She looked better her natural weight. Same with Julie Kavner. But I still love this series. Never crazy about that Jack character tho. He's such a consistent bummer and negative nelly. I think they were trying to create a "Mary and Lou Grant" kind of vibe, but it doesn't really land in my opinion. Hello from New England!
