I would have insisted the table was cleaned before they brought my food, either that or I would have walked out. I can't stand dirty, sticky tables in restaurants.
I has the same burger in my local spoons last week and enjoyed it (not really a burger fan tbh)...but to say you'd have been better going to McDonald's is a bit rich mate!...I know spoons ain't the best but a damn sight better than McDonald's anytime!
If you go to a good Spoons and order the right things they are consistently great. By far the least problems compared to the absolute barrage of grief you get at restaurants and other pubs costing 10 times more. The food industry is rotten but Spoons does exactly what it says on the tin!
26 plus minutes of “not being a food reviewer “ you entered spoons with an air of negativity which continued right through to the contrived outro. Why didn’t you ask the staff member to clear the glasses when she came over ? I always ask them to clear a table and wipe it and never been refused. Spoons is what it is and you have said that yourself. One can’t help thinking you are just fishing for comments which pour in following a negative review and obviously generate revenue which I know I have contributed to . That said , I do appreciate the work time and skills you invest to keep the channel current.
Went out for a £145 meal for two recently and the service was so bad the manager volunteered (I didn’t actually actively complain, was just honest when they asked me how everything was for the 5th time) £50 off. ‘Normal’ places struggle to get the most basic things right (like giving you chips with your steak or waiting until you have put the food in your mouth before asking you how it is (for the 7th time after you have complained about being asked too many times)) and then beg for extra money on top of the cost of items you have consumed!
Alright Lee yes there is no excuse for bad service and hygiene, we are lucky my local wetherspoons in Cumbria is good with a great manager not had a bad meal yet 👍
My grandad died in 1962, when I was 14, so I presume they were British Standard Chippy Chip 5/16” square cross-section. His favourite chippy in Bolton, near his home, was coal fired and they cooked in beef dripping. Always a queue out the door and round the corner. I used to go while gran buttered piles of bread and butter, taking a small basin in a towel for each of us - you handed them to the chap to warm up over the range. 😋😋😋
@ I can’t remember, but I know my gran’s sister (my great aunty Gladys) had a chippy not far from Bolton Wanderer’s old ground, Burden Park. I have childhood memories (1950s) carrying buckets of chips from the chip machine in the scullery to the range on match days. It was pure slave work. 😂😂😂 The range she had was gas fired and made in Oldham and had lots of chrome and Vitrolite. Oh forgot …. Talk about tight, my pay was a bag of chips and NO FISH.
Wetherspoons have a very specific market / demographically and they are successful with that. They are not my personal go to Brand but it is what it is and successful in the overall scheme of things . Its seems Wetherspoons are the RUclips food floggers whipping boys. 😂
You get what you pay for. It’s great cheap drink and the food is fine. If you want fine dining go to a fancy restaurant. Honestly how many time can you regurgitate the same 💩💩💩
Definetly wizard of oz a Christmas Day film, it’s a shame Wetherspoons has gone down hill with their food, used to be quite a good place to go for food. Haven’t been for ages because of this reason.
My mum was insistant that Yorkies didn't belong on a Christmas dinner and I keep to that. I suspect it was more to do with only having a single oven and enough other elements rather than any strong feelings about it.
i passed my test on that roundabout next to Idlewells Shopping centre for waiting until somebody to pass in front of me who had indicated too early, Asda still looks depressing after 30 plus years.
Hi Lee, Try Wetherspoons in Garforth, The Briggate! can't be too far from you. We go often, one of the better ones!! Another great video, keep em coming.
Lee I watch all your posts love the content but to be honest I don't think you went there with the right attitude and expectations we all love a spoons but to be fair ill still enjoy your content but just be fair I agree wetherspoons cleanliness is always appalling
Wetherspoons tends to be hit and miss, sadly a lot are the latter, and you never go back. I avoid festive menu items, the days are long gone when you only had poultry at Christmas. Stick to Fish & Chips Lee, a lot more choice and better chance of finding a good one. Bahh humbug to Christmas dinners.
Controversial comment incoming...... Emerson Lake and Palmer - Fanfare for THE Common Man. Absolutely sensational. 10/10 How this isn't re-released at Christmas is quite simply unbelievable.
Try "The Briggate" in Garforth. It's pretty good, although, I literally just had fish and chips and there's probably more fish in my bath, but the batter was nice, 14 chips and a splodge of mushy, the peas were the highlight really, along with the almost £5 bottle of peroni for £1.61 included.
Its not Christmas until Hans Gruber falls from the Nakatomi plaza, favourite Christmas song I wish it could be Christmas everyday by Roy Wood & Wizard. Yes that chicken looked drier than a moth sandwich and another Christmas classic you should check out Aussie Jingle Bells.
I’m in between with spoons simply because they are so inconsistent everywhere you visit . All about the managers and staff running that particular location . Only spoons that I wouldn’t go back to is Clacton on sea ,this is the worse by far.
On Christmas Day 1969 I was spending my first Christmas alone in Cologne, Germany. I was staying in a guest worker apartment owned by Ford-Werke. I stayed in Germany for 13 years, though I got my own apartment later.
I shopped at Gregsons in the 60's for my first Standard 8 camera and projector, both second hand. Born and lived in Kirkby until early 1970,then escaped to Newark then Retford.
Problem in today’s economy the business owners and fast food companies blame inflation and become full of greed and overcharge us for mediocre food at ridiculous prices
You want to try Wetherspoons in Harrogate in my opinion it’s the best one we have been to, had Christmas dinner last year at Wetherspoons Meadowhall terrible 😢
ASDA from the old Soviet Union. Looked grim. Wetherspoons is what is expected for their core customer base??? Not sure what you expected?? A red carpet rolled out for you... 🤣🤣🤣 Great review 😉
Just watched Gary Eats spend 60 odd quid on a crap steak and chips so a tenner for all that lot in perspective seems OK, considering you knew what you were in for. As regards the dirty glasses that's wrong, but mate.....Sutton.....
Well Lee i hope your Christmas Day meal is better than that... It was nice to catch up with Debs and Jo in WA, we have had mid 30c south of Sydney already 🤔Au
On my previous visits to the uk many times, I don’t recall going to Wetherspoons. One of my favourite restaurants was Miller and Carter where I had lovely steak and get chocolate ice cream sundaes. They were in the Gla Greater London area.
That actually looked pretty depressing, but even if the meal is bland and cheap the one thing that winds me up is lazy staff. Dirty tables and rubbish is pretty bad.
Spoons food standards have dropped significantly, I know it’s not the Ritz but when you used to get the “gourmet “ swish burgers as you did , you always got onion rings and not the economy bread bun and the buttermilk coating was much better and a hearty portion of chips. I suppose Tim Martin will be blaming Brexit for having to cut corners 😂
The Weatherspoons in Pattaya, Thailand was pretty good. About 6USD for their typical Sunday roast dinner. Much better than what was shown in the video.
We were so poor when I was a lad, we used to live in a shoe-box up the road opposite my uncle Ebenezer's luxury house and watched television through the plate glass window of the rediffusion shop.... memories, hey? Bloody awful! I'd throw a brick at santa if he'd existed... "Merry Christmas !" Bah!
Hi Lee Wetherspoons mystery diner here. They should have cleared the used glasses and cleaned the table and menu. I am asked to confirm such is happening during my visits. Definitely not acceptable.
Good choice with the food - tried this last week and enjoyed it - just put the cranberry inside the burger top and bottom and it comes out alright. Not many chips on your plate though. Common for Spoons to have dirty tables with drinks left. Most people move them to another empty table. The problem with Wetherspoons' service is too many staff delivering drinks constantly because they're so busy.
DieHard is not a Christmas movie. I was raised on the east coast of Florida and never associated Christmas with snow. I can remember going to the beach on Christmas. I still love the Christmas season and did spend a Christmas in snow. Beautiful but too cold for me. Favorite Christmas movie is Charlie Brown Christmas.
Hey hun wen I was in Tenerife hardly coughed . got home have not stopped coughing feel horrible as well it is making me dizzy just got some honey rum to carm it down xx❤❤
Their fish and chips and curries on a thursday are good value. They keep a far better control on the beer quality too. Doom Bar is always a good pint.
I would have insisted the table was cleaned before they brought my food, either that or I would have walked out. I can't stand dirty, sticky tables in restaurants.
Couldn’t agree more such bad management shithole
Bet you’re a great dad Lee! Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!
If Wetherspoons are so bad why are they always so busy . . . . If you don't like them don't use them.
Cheap beer - a pissheads paradise
I told you ages ago it's microwaved food .. might as well go to Asda its 99p a meal
I go to spoons alot it is what it is. Some are better than others . Try Garforth in Leeds it's very good and clean
I has the same burger in my local spoons last week and enjoyed it (not really a burger fan tbh)...but to say you'd have been better going to McDonald's is a bit rich mate!...I know spoons ain't the best but a damn sight better than McDonald's anytime!
I was very impressed by the wetherspoon Christmas menu this year. Their Christmas dinner is lovely and great value. Spoons food is good standard.
If you go to a good Spoons and order the right things they are consistently great.
By far the least problems compared to the absolute barrage of grief you get at restaurants and other pubs costing 10 times more.
The food industry is rotten but Spoons does exactly what it says on the tin!
If the front of the house is left in such a shabby condition makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen. 😮
If you go to a fancy restrant you get a big plate with a blob in the middle and it costs a fortune
26 plus minutes of “not being a food reviewer “ you entered spoons with an air of negativity which continued right through to the contrived outro.
Why didn’t you ask the staff member to clear the glasses when she came over ? I always ask them to clear a table and wipe it and never been refused.

As the Mac was saying. In the old days at Christmas , get what you're given and be grateful.
Went out for a £145 meal for two recently and the service was so bad the manager volunteered (I didn’t actually actively complain, was just honest when they asked me how everything was for the 5th time) £50 off.

yorkshire pudding goes on anything with gravy
@@skeggyboy1 And jam and custard!! 😋😋😋
Alright Lee yes there is no excuse for bad service and hygiene, we are lucky my local wetherspoons in Cumbria is good with a great manager not had a bad meal yet 👍
As my grandad used to say “if you can count the chips in five seconds - there aren’t enough”.
@@derekmills1080 how big were they

Take us to Shirebrook and show us the pub where Mike Ashley of Sports Direct puked in the fireplace 😂
Chestnuts roasting by an open fire? Well don't stand so close to it!
Yes a Yorkshire pudding belongs on all roast dinners, not a true Yorkie if said otherwise
It's a meal, as long as it didn't cost too much.
Pay more money and you will get better food
You get what you pay for. It’s great cheap drink and the food is fine. If you want fine dining go to a fancy restaurant.
Honestly how many time can you regurgitate the same 💩💩💩
It looked awful but Wetherspoons is usually ok food for the price.
I got a clock radio for Christmas, back in 1985, still on my bedside table, works great 😊
My favourite Christmas song is Merry Christmas Everybody by Slade. Showing my age now (64 1/2 years young).
Definetly wizard of oz a Christmas Day film, it’s a shame Wetherspoons has gone down hill with their food, used to be quite a good place to go for food. Haven’t been for ages because of this reason.
On a positive note - £2.63 for a pint of Carling is a good deal.
Depends on which spoons you visit, some care and produce a fair meal, others are just bad, staff is usually the problem.
How come Germany rebuilt its devastated country after the war, while we built loads of utterly crap towns?
Don't give up ya day job lee!😆
My mum was insistant that Yorkies didn't belong on a Christmas dinner and I keep to that. I suspect it was more to do with only having a single oven and enough other elements rather than any strong feelings about it.

Ignore all those who hate spoons, they just have a chip on their should because Tim Martin campaigned for brexit. They're just bitter remoaners.
I love a Spoons. I'll try this at some point, in the one in Mansfield.
Controversial comment incoming......
Emerson Lake and Palmer - Fanfare for THE Common Man.

£9.90 would cost you $40-$50 in Australia at the least!
Alistair Sim, A Christmas Carol. Definitely Yorkshire pudding on a Christmas dinner. I have been to Spoons onky once. That was enough.
"Miracle on 34th Street" and "It's A Wonderful Life" are my favorites. Also "A Christmas Story" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas" are runners-up.
A horrible meal in a dirty, grimy environment followed by a drive to Meadowhall.....Did you upset someone in a previous life Lee?.... 😂
I eat at Spoons every Sunday, Wimbledon, never had a problem, really great real ales always available!!

Spoons does vary from place to place.
Yep, depends on the management and how they motivate the staff, some will linger on their phones instead of busying themselves.
Just watched Gary Eats spend 60 odd quid on a crap steak and chips so a tenner for all that lot in perspective seems OK, considering you knew what you were in for. As regards the dirty glasses that's wrong, but mate.....Sutton.....
i love spoons and try as many as i can - you are quite right the xmas meal this year is tat and the service has declined in SOME branches recently
I can see that
The Holiday is utter guff
there is something special about Christmas , your memories as a kid, the TV, your family
Well Lee i hope your Christmas Day meal is better than that... It was nice to catch up with Debs and Jo in WA, we have had mid 30c south of Sydney already 🤔Au
they were very busy, staff can only do what they can, internet orders make it worse
Fun fact, the most likely holiday to have snow in the UK is Easter.
Most flavour to be had from pattern on the plate .
Weatherspoons has a competition with McDonald's for who has the worse bacon
Hey hun don't give up your day job lol xxx❤

Australians go over the top with decorating their house at Christmas, it's like a competition to the death.
Planes, Trains and Automobiles and slating Spoons. Another vlog, same content.
Home Alone 1 and 2, planes trains and automobiles, uncle buck, they are all movies to watch at this time of year
That looked like a pretty miserable eating experience 😮
Looks like you picked the worst place in the pub to sit so you could blog.

Greg Lake for the win on the Christmas Songs. 😊

Groundhog Day. I know not a Xmas movie but class.
