I just realized that the artwork on the character select screen for Spider-Man, Iron Man and Captain America all seem to be their models from Capcom's fighting arcade games. Hulk's looks to be based on an actual comic artwork, but I'm not sure where Wolverine's comes from.
iornman was the best character in this game. He was easy mode. His flight move made fighting bosses and enemies pretty easy and it felt good to use. Only thing i didnt like about the game was how the supers worked. I came across it by complete accident. didnt know that there were even gem supers in the game where you had to do a ultimate combo input. it does a lot of damage to bosses.
Did this come out after Mutant Apocalypse? The music and sound effects are a downgrade, especially for Wolverine's claws. Capcom did the same thing with Megaman X2 compared to Megaman X. X2 had good music but was nowhere near as complex and rich in detail as the first game. It's like they put the B-Team in charge of the sequels
What? In megaman x2 they even used a new snes "3d" tecnology to improve the graphics, x2 just has more dark colors on the backgrounds, but is better in all technical aspects
@@mikealfonsin I was referring to the soundtrack not the graphics. The first game had much more complex and detailed music. Even the Password Screen in the first game was a full song, in X2 it's literally just a 3-second loop. They clearly did not put in as much effort in the 2nd game. So I looked it up and I was right, this Marvel game came out 2-years after Mutant Apocalypse. It's basically a sequel game with different characters. Just listen to the boss theme in both games, significant downgrade compared to the intensity and passion of Mutant Apocalypse.
Yeah thats kinda inspired by the comic storyline of the same name. Magus is an alternate universe/evil counterpart to Adam Warlock, and he uses fake evil versions of heroes to sow discord amongst them and help obtain the Infinity Gems for himself.

This was what SNES owners were playing while they were day dreaming about playing Marvel Superheroes on the Saturn/PS1. I thought if they pulled off Alpha 2 then just maybe, but this was not a similar effort. The game was really not that great.
@@Judgementxxx Yes you're right but they bear the Marvel name which if you're going to use their characters and name then you need to stick to the comics or just not make a game, movie, etc.. at all. Because once you start changing things it will become trash just like we're seeing today with the MCU, Cartoon Shows, and Comics.

The arcade game came out a year before this. This was basically a corner-cutting port for those who wanted the Marvel experience at home.
Most of the sprites are pretty close to the arcade game. Blackheart in particular looks ripped straight from the arcade
