I saw him in concert in 1969 in Madison Wi, only because I threw a fit till my father bought tickets and surprised me with them. I know I was being a total brat but he choose to do this for me anyway. I felt way guilty about it afterwards but I will never forget that evening as long as I live. It was wonderful, Of course I didn't ask for anything afterwards for a long time! What memories.
I heard some famous poets, read a lot of famous poets, but never seen a live one till I saw Rod McKuen. I remember being so enthralled at seeing him in concert.
Saddened very much at the news of him passing. As the icons of my youth fall away, I pray their talents will live on. RIP Rod. I have seen greatness in my life and you were among those.
I First heard Rod Mckuen in 1969. His poetry and lyrics Go straight to the heart. He was a Cat lover and l am too. I think he was a Person füll of love , and somehow very sad , His poems and songs often make one want to cry . I think he was a very caring person ,
Love this song, and Rod Mckuen (I have this album). However, this is not a Linda Ronstadt cover. Long Long Time was written by professional songwriter Gary White.
Love will abide, Take things in stride. Sounds like good advice, But there's no one at my side. And time washes clean, Love's wounds unseen. That's what someone told me, But I don't know what it means. 'Cause I've done everything I know, To try and make you mine. I think I'm gonna love you, For a long, long time. Caught in my fears, Holding back the tears Again you say you'll hurt me But you never let me knew. And I never drew Not one response from you. All the while you fell, Of people you never knew. I've done everything I know; To try and make you mine And it's gonna hurt me, For a long, long time. Wait for the day, When you go away Knowing that you warned me, Of the price I'd have to pay And love, life's full of flaws Who knows the cause? Living in the mem'ry, Of a love that never was; And I, I've done everything I know, To try and change your mind. I think I'm gonna miss you, For a long, long time. I've done everything I know; To try and make you mine. I guess I'm gonna love you, For a long, long time.

I still remember.
Love will abide,
Take things in stride.
Sounds like good advice,
But there's no one at my side.
And time washes clean,
Love's wounds unseen.
That's what someone told me,
But I don't know what it means.
'Cause I've done everything I know,
To try and make you mine.
I think I'm gonna love you,
For a long, long time.
Caught in my fears,
Holding back the tears
Again you say you'll hurt me
But you never let me knew.
And I never drew
Not one response from you.
All the while you fell,
Of people you never knew.
I've done everything I know;
To try and make you mine
And it's gonna hurt me,
For a long, long time.
Wait for the day,
When you go away
Knowing that you warned me,
Of the price I'd have to pay
And love, life's full of flaws
Who knows the cause?
Living in the mem'ry,
Of a love that never was;
And I, I've done everything I know,
To try and change your mind.
I think I'm gonna miss you,
For a long, long time.
I've done everything I know;
To try and make you mine.
I guess I'm gonna love you,
For a long, long time.

@wgcbww No problem! I'm a big fan too. I especially love the San Sebastian Strings albums he worked on!
@watarakay Totally agree! He does a lot of great covers on the Pastorale album!
@rodmckuenfan Great, I'll be there!
@pjgumby Right on! Enjoy. Check out 'Stanyan Street.' It's so good!
@audreychapman1 So, this song is in English...not sure what it is that you're trying to say...
@2Crystalight Definitely! You should check out Round, Round, Round and So Long, San Francisco on my page. You'll probably dig 'em!
ONLY THE ENGLISH VERSION
@pjgumby I know how that goes! haha. You didn't ask for anything for a long, long time? Was that a deliberate pun? : ) I like it!
no, actually, it wasn't a pun, I'm not that quick, but you are to pick up on the reverb!
@pjgumby haha, Hey- have you taken a look at my page? There are lots of great Rod Mckuen and San Sebastian Strings songs there.
