As usual, a very enjoyable episode! Harkin was only present in ME1 at the beginning. He was in Chora's Den---a smarty mouth who said (incorrectly) that Anderson had been thrown out of the spectres, and that Garrus had gone to Dr. Michel's office. Your choices with Miranda and Garrus (I think) are the best for the future in the game. It allows a warmer environment and influences them to be more paragon and closer to you. You'll see. Renegade makes the relationship depend more directly on cold violence, and some options are eliminated.

Kahli playing 4D chess with choosing which companions to bring and the game doesn't play along 😢 Regarding Garrus' mission. I'll say what Shepard said to Mordin during his: "You're not a murderer", even if Garrus feels like he has to do it he's wouldn't just go and kill someone for personal satisfaction, at least in my mind . The voice actors killed it on that mission though, you could feel Garrus frustration with the whole situation

Many of the conversations you can listen in on have more to them if you keep pressing the button to listen, like the bachelor party, and the quarian with the turian on Illium. There are conversations that have some progression to them if you come back from time to time to listen, like for the various other people on your ship. There is a lot of this on ME3. Also I may not be remembering correctly but you may be able to talk to EDI regularly like the other squad people. If not from the various parts of the ship, then maybe that room further inside past the medical bay. You should check there.

I like the editing - some of the side missions don't add much, especially the Firewalker ones, although I've played them enough to know them well. Harkin's the charming chap in Chora's Den at the start of ME1 - he tells you where Garrus is, along with being bitter for being kicked out of C-Sec for drinking, stealing, assault etc. Poor Kelly - all that psychology training and everyone just wants her to feed fish 😀
If you shoot the heads off mechs they tend to explode. The bigger the mech, the bigger the boom. (I say this as if there's more than 2 types of mechs to shoots heads off of. lol)
"I'm trying to remember who that is..." In ME1, when you are first looking for Garrus, Harkin is a corrupt C-Sec officer you meet in Chora's Den. It is possible (though not common) to complete that mission without talking to Harkin, so you may have missed him. If you did talk to him, he would have been very dismissive towards Shepard, and especially so to FemShep, aiming a couple of drunken/lecherous comments at her.
You don't get to see a love scene with Kelly. If you make her your main romance, then there is a mildly risque little scene at the very end of the game, but if you pursue a "proper" romance with one of your squad mates, that won't happen either. Also, even if Kelly is your main romance, she's still more of a "fling," so you don't get the Paramour achievement. I guess getting your fish fed is considered reward enough!

Don't push Liara's mission too far off. The rewards of that mission are continuous and ongoing for the rest of the game. It's not strictly necessary, but it does make the game easier in the long run. Besides, it gives a LOT of backstory for the time that you were 'dead'.
You play the way you want, but I find surprising to take Jacob on Miranda's mission as Jacobs and Miranda are your very first team mates, while you have a fresh new member into your crew (Thane)... But I don't worry : sooner or later, they'll eventually be on a mission, at least their respective loyalty mission One thing is absolutely obvious, people can have very different ways to play... When I played ME2 for the first time, I took the new members of the crew as soon as they joined the Normandy... I was so impatient to discover their abilities on the ground, that's as well a way to know them better, and I am very curious by nature... I love to discover new things, new personalities, new abilities... I am probably the most complete opposite to someone who would think "I won't take any risk, I use only what I already know, that's safer" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
