  • Sportscaster Bob Rathbun suffered an on-air medical emergency during an Atlanta Hawks basketball game. Rathbun slowly slumped in his chair and then started to convulse while commentating on the game. As Rathbun loses consciousness, someone off-camera reaches in to help him as the camera cuts away. His rep said in a statement to Inside Edition that the 68-year-old announcer "briefly lost consciousness on the court." “Emergency medical professionals on-site quickly treated Rathbun for dehydration,” the statement continued.

I remember I only took one bite out of my cheeseburger and I was talking to one of my friends and from there I don't remember anything. When I woke up, it felt a dream, I couldn't remember anything for at least 5 minutes or so. I was terrified as soon as the paramedics told me I suffered one when I woke up. I wanted to cry as it had never happened to me before. Then the second one, I was in history class, we were shutting down our laptops after some online work becuase the teacher was about to give a lesson and from there I must have blacked out. I woke up in the ambulance and from there I wad taken to the hospital. It was very scary. I wondered if I would be ok. I was going through some anxiety and depression for the first 5 monts of 2017 and I would have some restless nights sometimes so Idk if that may have contributed in anyway to the convulsions. In an older person, dehydration can definitely cause a lot of medical problems. It's very possible this gentleman has diabetes or some other condition that can also lead to dehydration. As a younger person, you'd never consider how important hydration is. Almost every time my dad got ill enough that I needed to contact EMS, it would turn out he would be just fine once he was given an IV bag of fluids.
