0:47 omg!! i know i’m like years late to this video but i *literally* just screamed and laughed out loud when i heard you say all the techniques included for these socks! did you ascend straight from the heavens? 😂😂
I finished knitting my first pair of socks toe down and feel as though I am ready to knit a pair of your socks. I've probably watched this video 30 times and it is mesmerizing watching you knit. You make knitting look easy.
My first foray into socks was with your sling heel pattern. They fit my wife perfectly and now I'm excited to try this pattern (especially to venture into two-at-a-time). Thanks for being my knitting guru!....It all began with Christmas stockings.
Hello, I have knitted a bunch of toe up socks with the magic loop co, and then increasing every other row. I never liked the trapezoid toe shapes. I once came across a video that showed how to do a rounded toe. I can’t fid the video again. Was it one of yours? Do you have a pattern for a rounded toe?
This is my new favorite way to knit socks - two at a time or even just one at a time. I’ve used this technique to modify other sock patterns and it’s made the whole process so much more enjoyable for me! Not to mention, I love the look of the finished GSR toe/heel too. Thanks for another fantastic pattern!
Starting one toe at a time is genius. I just knitted gloves TAAT, and when I got frustrated with fiddly bits I just held the stitches on one and concentrated on the other. Easy enough to pick up the second once I'd worked out the problem on the first glove. BTW, I used your trick of holding stitches on size 0 circs - much easier to pick up than from yarn!
Hi VeryPink ✋🏽. Every time I wanted learn something new in knitting I always come back to your tutorials. Even though this video is over a year old, I had a light bulb moment..lol. Thanks so much for your contribution over the years to this community. You're an awesome teacher.🧦🧶💕👍👏👏👏🌹 God Bless, and that for sharing all of knowledge in knitting.
Oh my goodness, I totally did this with your regular German short row pattern! It was fantastic, I finished that pair pretty quickly this way. I'm so glad for this video, it answered a couple of questions/problems I had while winging it. Thank you!
I love this tutorial and pattern! That’s the wonderful thing about your patterns, there are visual directions. Thanks so much for teaching us to knit. 😁
Thank you SO MUCH for this video. I have a lot of trouble with crocheting a chain and finding/using the “spine” of the chain. This technique is Just what I needed!
Absolutely amazing! I've never used the GSR toe and heel before! Boy is it slick. I've knit dozens of pairs of socks and this is my new favourite pattern. Thank you so much!
You are the only person whose sock patterns I have been able to follow correctly for socks (and I consider myself a medium-advanced knitter). I could never get the hang of turning the heel! I’m looking forward to trying this pattern and your sling heel one which I have just purchased. Hopefully I can grasp how to do magic loop too because that has always eluded me! Thank you for your hard work creating and demonstrating these easy to follow patterns. I, (and I’m sure many others) appreciate it. PS. I love the photos of your beautiful Basenjis on FB and IG.
Thanks so much! I just bought your pattern through ravelry, as I did your first German short row sock pattern. I was waiting for this to come out; I had bought the sock rocket needles, and the fingering weight yarn... and now I have the pattern. Yippee ❤️ b fr eastern Canada 🇨🇦
Ooooo, that’s where I go wrong. On the right side row, making the toe, I forget to put my yarn in front before slipping the stitch. Ill get there. Thanks so much for these videos. ❤️
Watching a few of your videos inspired me to try myself at sock knitting again. I learned knitting socks the traditional way, with five skinny needles from the top to the toe. What I find especially fantastic is the magic loop technique. Funny for me is your way of holding the working yarn with your right hand and moving the index finger to wrap the yarn around the needle. That looks similar to the 'French' method to me. I am German and learned to hold the working yarn in the left hand, threaded between the pinkie and the ring finger and passed around the back of the index finger. The working needle passes through a stitch and catches the thread and pulls through. Your explanations are excellent. I've got to try this...I've got to try this ...
"The Yarn Runs Through It". Sounds like the name of a knitting movie.😁 (Provisional cast-on was a little difficult for me, even using cotton yarn for provisional. It was a fight to the death. I'm not sure who won it.)
Stacie, I would just like to give you a big thank you for your very good instructional videos. I have just finished my first pair of magic loop GSR socks following your pattern and wonderful instructions and I even reinforced the heel. I think they would have to be my best pair of socks yet and I don’t think I will be making them any other way from now on.
I'm always coming out with tutorials for new ways to knit socks...I'm glad that you love GSR socks, but as your knitting teacher, I'm going to encourage you to branch out a bit, too. :)
VeryPink Knits Hi Stacie, thank you for your feedback and I have taken note but at the same time I found it a bit funny as I have been now knitting for approx. 34 years and during this time I have always tended to take on knitting projects that challenge me 🤗
Stacie here I am again and this time with a PS: and an addendum as I realised after I had replied to your comment that my maths was atrocious as I have actually been knitting for can you believe it/ because I can’t approx 54 years not 34 as originally stated. 😂 The other thing that I wanted to add is that it could be the umpteenth time that I have seen or done a technique there could always be a better way of doing something and I always manage to learn something. You are an excellent tutor 👏👍
You say no for substitutions for the toe of the sock while I say -technically- one could but they must understand that it can change the look of the pattern. I myself can't do a provisional cast on for my live but I can do Judy's magic cast on almost in my sleep.
It's less about changing the look of the pattern by using a different cast-on...Judy's Magic CO starts you off in an entirely different place, and therefore changes the construction completely.
@@verypinkknits short of it changing the structuring of the toe portion of the sock would it change the rest of the structure of the sock if the stitch count was kept the same for after the toe is finished.
Yes. You can substitute in a different toe provided the stitch count is the same. I say it "cannot" be done, only because changing the cast-on would mean that you would no longer be able to follow the part of the pattern written for the toe. You would need to follow a different pattern, and the toe section of the video tutorial would also no longer be helpful.
You can (I’ve done it). You will have think of the reserved half of JMCO or Turkish cast on as equivalent to half of the first foot round. So you might have do an extra half round to even up. (I didn’t, I just changed how I visualized the toe and foot).
Okay completely off topic but you have beautiful cuticles ha ha couldn’t help but notice ! Bought he the pattern, ready to hit my sock yarn stash and make a pie of these Loaded Socks ! 💕
amaizing!!! my next up project is 2 at a time toe up socks and have been trying to find a good pattern. this is EXACTLY what i wanted! though I do like cables/lace/patterns in my socks but I can always add it in. I have second sock syndrome before I even start. I DONT LOVE knitting socks. its ok. but its the most practical and useful thing i can make. I dont wear shawls/cowls/scarvest hat much and havent been brave enough to do a sweater (plus i only use superwash and that gets pricey quite fast)
I kinda like this method., its different., i'm a beginner in socks., its good to try didn't method., which i like to try this one... Which I stuggle with certain methods... Thank You for this video... Thumbs Up!! 😁😀😄👍 Happy Knitting...
Ok guys.. i'm a magic loop purist, and I have to admit it's easier to just start these on DPNs and then switch to the loop when you're done shaping the toes. If you don't have DPNs you can still do it, but it's a lot more hassle of untangling yarn and sliding things around
@@verypinkknits i took it as a challenge when I saw that lol but even now, i'm not liking the 2 at a time on the same needles, which is sad because I really wanted to like it! But the juice just isn't worth the squeeze - You could just have 2 completely separate knitting projects and it would be almost the same thing but much less tangling and confusion, what do you think?
I can’t wait to try this. I’m looking at your socks and thinking “she has baby feet.” Lol. I guess when you knit size 11s for yourself, you’re not use to seeing small socks. 🤣
You mention in your video that you can't substitute JMCO or Figure 8 cast on for the provisional cast on you use. I've done this successfully with JMCO, you just need to place the 2nd needle of stitches on hold until you need them, & no unpicking the provisional cast on 🙂 In fact it's just like knitting a short row heel Great videos 😍, Karen
Yes - it can be done, but those cast-ons generally (in most patterns) start the sock in a different place, as you begin working in-the-round immediately. It can be done, but I highly recommend that people who are learning how to knit socks with my tutorials follow the provoco I use in the video for the easiest knitting, and the best success.
I ordered two hanks, one in Poison Apple and one in Air Force One.. neither came with extra for heel and toe, but this Turtlepurl yarn is pretty awesome
You can email the Turtlepurl store for help, but not all of the yarn comes with the extra hank. You'll see it in the photos and in the description if it does.
I love German Short Rows but have been unable to fix a dropped double stitch (got dropped when I ripped back). Please demonstrate this fix. It would help many of us who love GSW. I love your videos.
I have that very video here: ruclips.net/video/U9Q8iazUq94/видео.html I have over 600 videos, just search my channel and you're likely to find what you need! If you don't find it, drop me a note and I'll get a video out.
Staci, love both loaded gsr socks and sling heel sock patterns. If you can show how to fix a dropped gsr stitch, I would be eternally grateful! They seem to be what I manage to drop the most!! Thanks, Bonnie B
I’m making my socks all in one color. When it came time to put the toes onto the circular my working yarn was coming from the front needle. I had to knit across to reposition it. Did I do something wrong ? Thanks so much for this great video!
Hi, Staci. I have both your loaded gsr and sling heel patterns. Any chance of getting loaded gsr sock pattern with dk weight yarn instructions? Making a "loaded" pair for my bil using dk weight yarn. I've been going back and forth between both patterns, but that can be confusing. I basically used the dk yarn toe instructions in the sling heel pattern for the heels of the "loaded" socks. Have lost my place and some sanity a few times!
Hi from Pretoria, South Africa. I started with my 1st pair - two at a time on 2 circular needles as the magic loop is my nightmare. Toes completed and it fits like a dream. Thank you for a very well written pattern. But I do have a couple of questions: 1) what is the best way to pick up the provisional cast on stitches direction wise using 2 needles? 2) how does the GSR compare to the Japanese short row technique ito durability, holes, picking up dropped stitches, etc? 3) how and when do I modify/increase stitches to create more height in the gusset? I have an injury in my one leg that often leads to my ankle and leg to swell significantly making it problematic to put on socks.
Thank you for your note. I'm not sure that I understand your first question, but I'll get to the others...Japanese short rows are another way of working short rows, I recommend giving them a try for yourself on a swatch to see the difference. ruclips.net/video/qR6IgBRcV5Y/видео.html Unless you're a really experienced sock knitter, I don't recommend altering a sock pattern. Modifying any part of a sock pattern really means scraping the original and writing a whole new pattern. Your best bet is to find sock patterns with long gussets, and probably avoid short row heels. You'll probably like the fit of a sock like this better: ruclips.net/video/s4hhxKrylOs/видео.html
Your tutorials are always amazing - thank you! I REALLY don't like/enjoy provisional cast-ons thoough. I always have a terrible time picking up the stitches from the provisional cast-on. Is it possible to do the toes with the magic loop from the beginning so I don't have to do that part? Even if it's a bit more tangly and/or complicated, I think I'd prefer it. Could you possibly do a tutorial for that?? I may try it myself - please pray for me! haha
I have other sock patterns that don't use a provisional CO, like this one, a new pattern: verypink.com/2019/07/31/star-toed-fleegle-socks/ The style of toe used in this pattern really needs a provisional CO - using a different CO would start you off in a different part of the toe, and wouldn't work with this pattern. I encourage you to practice the provoco as I demonstrate it in this video - it's a good skill to have, and it makes a lot of toe-up sock patterns possible!
I’m just starting to work on these and am working the foot length. Just wondering if you have any recommendations for keeping tension as you knit. I’m noticing the last couple of stitches from the front needle and the back get stretched quite a bit because the cord wants to pull away from the needle.
I have several videos on weaving in ends in different situations - here is the playlist on my website: verypink.com/category/techniques/weavingends/ For socks, you'll want the video on weaving in ends in ribbing, and the regular ol' "weaving in ends" video.
Hi Staci. I have got the pattern for these socks. Can I use DK weight yarn instead of fingering weight yarn. I would still use the Sam needle size lasted in the pattern
No, I don't recommend that...you'll end up with either really huge socks (bigger gauge), or a really stiff non-stretchy fabric (correct gauge, thick yarn). I have another pattern that uses these same techniques, but is written for DK weight yarn: verypink.com/2015/03/11/toe-up-socks-using-german-short-rows/ If you have more questions, please email me directly at staci@verypink.com, thanks.
VeryPink Knits; I lost my video for how to calculate cast on stitches for toe up socks . Do you have a link for this and also a conversion chart for foot and shoe sizes?
I don't have a video for a basic sock recipe, but each of my sock patterns (over 20 of them) give exact instructions for cast-on numbers and foot/shoe sizes. verypink.com/2020/01/10/find-your-sock-tutorial/
Hello Staci! Love your work and your RUclips channel is my “go to” for all things knitting and I never miss your podcast. Just a question in this pattern… once you have picked up stitches from the provisional CO and positioned them on the magic loop needles, pretend you are continuing to use the toe yarn for the rest of the sock (as I am). My working yarn ends up on the front needle. Is this ok/correct? I went ahead and started knitting in the round with my magic loop (although just the one sock as I don’t have second sock syndrome ) however, it looked a bit like a gap was created because the two sides of the sock didn’t get ”pulled” together by having the yarn on the back needle. In the end, when I came back to the beginning, I picked up a stitch from the row below, placed it on the left needle, and knitted what then became two stitches together so as not to change the Stitch count but somewhat closed a hole. Sorry for the long comment. I have successfully used this latter before but it has been a while and I could not remember 👌
Hi Pauline - yes, that is fine and normal if you are not changing colors. :) If you have more questions on any of my patterns, please email me directly at staci@verypink.com. RUclips doesn't always send me notifications of comments or replies, and I don't want to miss any pattern questions!
Hello:. I love your tutorials. Just one question about the German short row heel. I am having a hard time getting it over my heel when putting on. Am I doing something wrong?
No - you probably aren't doing anything wrong. Some people, usually with higher arches, need a bit more room around the heel. In that case, you might do better with a sock pattern that has gusset increases. I have a few of those patterns available as tutorials. Here is a chart with all of my sock tutorials: verypink.com/2020/01/10/find-your-sock-tutorial/
Hi Stacy ! I love the way you teach. Is this pattern easy to adapt for DK yarn ? I bought your pattern for socks on 9" circular, and love it ,but nowI would love to try 2 at-a-time in DK weight
I've knit these socks and love them so much. Would love to knit them again but with a pattern on the cuff and foot (like a lace pattern or a cable). If I got a pattern for the cuff, would this change the overall fit of the sock?
I can't answer that - it depends on the stitch pattern you choose. You'll need to test it out to see. I can tell you this - a cable pattern is going to make the sock tighter.
Hi Staci, this is my first pair of socks in the sock yarn and I am very excited I finally got the toes finished and moving onto the foot. I have a question about the loose yarn, do you just weave those ends into the sock or do I need to knot them off first befire weaving in the ends? Thank you so much
After the Toe and when we start knitting in the round to make the foot, are we supposed to pick up a stitch and then K2TG to close the holes, when i worked my practice sock, i got a big gap. I noticed on the other video it demonstrates that technique?
Hey Staci, though I'm fairly new to knitting, (3) yrs, I'm gonna give this a try! I have a sock pattern, lace pattern that I'm going to attempt to use! I was wondering though, when doing provisional cast ons, can we use a yarn slightly bigger than the fingering weight yarn that we're using to knit the socks with?
@@verypinkknits Thanks Staci, you're the best. Now I'm trying to learn how to do schematics for sweaters. I'm confused about the math part of it. All of the sweater schematics videos are running really fast. I'm hoping that 1 day that you do a example on this subject.
A download link was instantly and automatically emailed to the address you have on file with PayPal. Additionally, you can find the pattern in your Ravelry library, or in Ravelry's Purchase Finder feature at www.ravelry.com/purchasefinder If you are still unable to locate the pattern, email me at staci@verypink.com, and I can research the transaction and send you another copy.
Hmmm...could you use Turkish as a provisional co? 🤔 So cast on the same amount of stitches with Turkish, then instead of going both sides with Turkish you just work one side for the toe (like you do here), and just leave the other stitches until you're ready to come back. I suppose you'd need either circulars or a stitch holder though, or maybe a 3rd double point if you have end stoppers 🤔
sorry if this was a question you've already answered... Can you tell me about your necklace? I love the pendant and I was wondering if it had any special significance.
No - I don't think anyone has asked until now! That is a Basenji necklace, which is the breed of dog I have. I got it from this Etsy seller, who makes beautiful jewelry of many dog breeds: www.etsy.com/shop/SiberianArtJewelry
That's awesome! I have to tell you that I have recommended your videos to everyone who will listen. I love how open to questions and suggestions you are. I love the clarity of your lessons, and I love how tried and true your patterns/techniques are. I also love how you've created several series of lessons that are tangentially related to knitting. You go the extra mile! My husband always laughs cause as he goes to bed at night he says he can always hear your intro music.
Please I really want to know what non-animal fiber you think works best for socks? I know animal fibers work best buf you had to pick a non animal fiber which would you choose?
I don't ever use non-animal fibers for socks, but here is a list I found on a website called Vegan Knitting: veganknitting.typepad.com/vegan_knittingand_then_so/vegan-sock-yarns.html
It is more accurate to say 2.75mm needles...different needle gauges put size US 2 at different millimeters. And yes, this pattern uses sock/fingering weight yarn.
Staci, I have a question for you. Which of your sock patterns would you recommend for a knitter that has experience at knitting cuff down socks but would love to learn how to knit a toe up, two at a time, magic loop sock. Appreciate you help and I love your videos. I always start here when learning a new technique.
If you have sock knitting experience, this pattern shouldn't be a huge leap. If you'd like to make an easier transition, I recommend this tutorial first: verypink.com/2015/03/11/toe-up-socks-using-german-short-rows/ That will teach you toe-up and German short rows, then two at-a-time and magic loop will be even easier.
I just purchased this pattern! Thanks so much! Question: I really like the heel construction in your Sling Heel sock pattern, can I use that same technique with this pattern? Do you have any tips for doing that? Thanks in advance for your help!
Yes - you can substitute the Sling Heel for this heel, with one change...you'll need to take each sock completely off the two at-a-time magic loop circular, work the heels, then slide the stitches back on to magic loop.
I purchased the first pattern before which was called two at a time toe up magic loop socks. Then I discovered Stacy's video I'm doing German short row instead of the traditional wrap and turn. I fell in love with this technique as it was so much easier. Now I come acrossed another of Stacy's video being this one here where she shows how to do one at a time toe and then transfer to a circular needle. This also was so much faster and easier. Thank you Stacey for all your videos and your written directions. I wish that I could buy the all. But I figured it out with the help of your video and written pattern that I had from before. It was so easy to do but my mind was not thinking right.
Does the yarn weight for the cast on have to match the yarn you are using for the socks? Thanks for this video! I love knitting and your videos have really helped me improve my technique! ❤
This video is fantastic! I have a question, but it isn't quite applicable to this video. :-/ Do you have any tips for keeping good tension when working butterfly stitch?
I gotta say I like dpns better I guess call me a traditionalist but when I did the magic loop I would get ladders with dpns I don't, I also knit two socks at a time with dpns I have two sets And pretty much done with the two socks at the same time.
I love your videos, but I'm having a problem. I cannot tell from the video at which end you start to take the live stitches from the dpn and transfer it to the circular needle. I bought your pattern for this, but it is not clear to me in this or the video. Do you start picking up the stitches from the knotted end, or the other end?
You want to unravel the provisional CO from the NON slip knot end, and retrieve the stitches from there. If you are working from the pattern and you have questions, please email me directly at staci@verypink.com, RUclips doesn't always notify me of responses on comments, and I always want to be sure I support my patterns!
Ja, du kannst "shadow wraps" stattdessen machen. :) Mir ist diese Technik allerdings zu umständlich. Ich bleibe bei unseren Doppelmaschen (German short rows).
I did too lol. I took my normal sock pattern and her toe up German short rows video, made adjustments, and made some for Xmas. I just adjust my gauge (add so many stitches to be wider for men) and I'm good!
Hi Staci, how many hours do you knit in a day? Do professional knitters knit 8-10-15 hours in a single day? I love knitting, I could knit for days once I start a project but sitting in one place all day long is not sitting right with me (pun intended) Do you work on a schedule? I usually watch marathons of my favorite series while knitting, but sitting a whole week in front of the TV to make a sweater or more for a blanket makes me cringe and sore. LOL any tips on working smart and finish projects in a timely manner?
Thanks, Isabelle - your question is good, but it's a loooong answer. Would you consider submitting it to the audio podcast so that Casey and I can answer it together? You can email your question to podcast@verypink.com, the podcast can be found here: verypink.com/category/podcast/
Don't sit and knit - so bad for your health!!! Sit one or two rows (or set a timer for 10 minutes - then STAND UP and knit for 10 minutes. Sitting for long periods of time is as bad for you as smoking!
Good Morning: I have a question regarding the pattern. I would have emailed but the computer I was using (work) crashed and I lost everything. Would you mind giving me your email address so I can ask you a quick question about the pattern. . Thank you very much.
Staci, I purchased the pattern and there was a link for video for calf increases and bind off. However, it linked to this video and no mention or demonstration of either technique. I am interested in the increases because I have been having issues with my socks being to tight on instep and work like to do longer socks. Am I missing something from the purchased pattern?
Thank you for pointing that out...that text should say "heel" (not "calf increases") and it's been fixed if you'd like to re-download the pattern. I demonstrate calf increases for longer socks in my Sling Heel Socks video, here is the link to the section in that tutorial: ruclips.net/video/BcvtPiD8w5A/видео.html&t=19m54s
Hmm...you'd be hard pressed to find a print book for $8. My prices are in-line with other sock patterns, and my sock patterns have the extra value of video tutorials to go with them. Other patterns with video tutorials run upwards of $30 each. I do my best to provide great value for knitters.

This should explain a little more, a video on the different knitting styles: ruclips.net/video/X5HAqG8Prbc/видео.html
Wow, thanks for the hint, watched the video. You got me curious about the Portuguese style.
Thank you for this! Your videos are always so nicely done and explanations so clear!

I'm excited. I just purchased the pattern.
Haaa! Those socks are so pretty! I love the colors!
Yes, I totally agree - that is how the pattern is written.
@@caliburrn1 I love your comment "The juice just isn't worth the squeeze". Yes! That is how I felt about this particular pattern/technique.
Love the pattern, so helpful ❤
Love the Video Tutorial and the Basenji Necklace...:)
Thank you so much for that great video. Love that yarn!
I can’t wait to try this. I’m looking at your socks and thinking “she has baby feet.” Lol. I guess when you knit size 11s for yourself, you’re not use to seeing small socks. 🤣
I feel you., i have size. 9-1/2 feet..😁😀😄👍👣
This tutorial is awesome! 💖
Thank you😊
Love love LOVE that sock yarn! 😁
That seems so confusing! I must say, when you break it down, your way seems less confusing!
OMG Thaaaaank you!
I didn't realize this is THE thing I have been looking for. 😄❤😄❤

You mention in your video that you can't substitute JMCO or Figure 8 cast on for the provisional cast on you use. I've done this successfully with JMCO, you just need to place the 2nd needle of stitches on hold until you need them, & no unpicking the provisional cast on 🙂 In fact it's just like knitting a short row heel
Great videos 😍, Karen
Yes - it can be done, but those cast-ons generally (in most patterns) start the sock in a different place, as you begin working in-the-round immediately. It can be done, but I highly recommend that people who are learning how to knit socks with my tutorials follow the provoco I use in the video for the easiest knitting, and the best success.
I love all your tutorials!!! How can I use this pattern for a child's sock?
What a fabulous video!! Love it!
These needles will be great for hats.
Staci, love both loaded gsr socks and sling heel sock patterns. If you can show how to fix a dropped gsr stitch, I would be eternally grateful! They seem to be what I manage to drop the most!! Thanks, Bonnie B
I keep getting that question lately! It's on the list for an upcoming video. :)
Thank you-will be eternally grateful! Will be watching!
I’m making my socks all in one color. When it came time to put the toes onto the circular my working yarn was coming from the front needle. I had to knit across to reposition it. Did I do something wrong ? Thanks so much for this great video!
You must have missed a row somewhere, but yes, working across to get your yarn in the correct position was the right thing to do.
YAY! MAGIC LOOP!
This is a great method thank you!

How about a pattern for children's loaded german short row socks?
I need to try this...problem is, I'm left handed, so I need to figure out the provisional cast on part
I would like to make a request. Can you make a video for making socks with straight needles?
Do you have a top down german short row?
You are very talented. Just a question for you, do you have a video that shows how the weave all of the ends in after you’re done?
I have several videos on weaving in ends in different situations - here is the playlist on my website:
verypink.com/category/techniques/weavingends/
For socks, you'll want the video on weaving in ends in ribbing, and the regular ol' "weaving in ends" video.
Hi Staci thank you
VeryPink Knits;
I lost my video for how to calculate cast on stitches for toe up socks .
@@verypinkknits thank you so much!
Hi Stacy ! I love the way you teach. Is this pattern easy to adapt for DK yarn ? I bought your pattern for socks on 9" circular, and love it ,but nowI would love to try 2 at-a-time in DK weight
I don't recommend trying to alter this pattern for DK weight yarn, but you can knit my socks on 9" circular pattern two at-a-time, like this.
VeryPink Knits wow such a fast reply! I thought that would be the case. I don't mind trying it out anyway because I love knitting socks!
Hi Staci, this is my first pair of socks in the sock yarn and I am very excited I finally got the toes finished and moving onto the foot. I have a question about the loose yarn, do you just weave those ends into the sock or do I need to knot them off first befire weaving in the ends? Thank you so much
If you're changing colors and you have two loose ends, I like to tie those together, then weave in the ends.
Thank you so much Staci for your help, appreciate it.
After the Toe and when we start knitting in the round to make the foot, are we supposed to pick up a stitch and then K2TG to close the holes, when i worked my practice sock, i got a big gap. I noticed on the other video it demonstrates that technique?
If you're working from the written pattern, please email your question to me at staci@verypink.com for help. thanks
Yes - I always use worsted weight yarn for the provoco, regardless of the weight of yarn I'm using in the sock. It's just easier.
@@verypinkknits Thanks Staci, you're the best. Now I'm trying to learn how to do schematics for sweaters. I'm confused about the math part of it. All of the sweater schematics videos are running really fast. I'm hoping that 1 day that you do a example on this subject.
I purchased the Loaded two at a time toe up sock pattern yesterday but I cannot find it on my iPad today. How do I find it ?
It can be done, but it will be a significant modification to the toe, since the Turkish CO starts you in a different spot of the sock.
I am struggling with laddering on the sides. ANy tips on how to correct/avoid this?
Blocking should help, but here is a video: ruclips.net/video/K-J4fo5fDjI/видео.html
sorry if this was a question you've already answered...
I don't ever use non-animal fibers for socks, but here is a list I found on a website called Vegan Knitting:
veganknitting.typepad.com/vegan_knittingand_then_so/vegan-sock-yarns.html
in the pattern you call for #2 needles are you using fingering weight yarn on the #2 needles ?
Thank you for your help, wish me luck
I just purchased this pattern! Thanks so much! Question: I really like the heel construction in your Sling Heel sock pattern, can I use that same technique with this pattern? Do you have any tips for doing that? Thanks in advance for your help!
Yes - you can substitute the Sling Heel for this heel, with one change...you'll need to take each sock completely off the two at-a-time magic loop circular, work the heels, then slide the stitches back on to magic loop.
I did something wrong. When first tranferring onto circular needle (to get set up for knitting inn the round) do you start from the slip knot end?
If you are working from the written pattern and you have questions, please email me at staci@verypink.com.
No - I always use a heavier yarn (usually worsted) for the provisional cast-on. Much easier to work with, and it doesn't make a difference in the end.
VeryPink Knits Thank you!
Where can I get the Turtlepurl yarn that comes with the smaller skein of one color for the toes, heels and cuffs?
You can find the yarn in Turtlepurl's Etsy shop: www.etsy.com/shop/turtlepurl
Você usa agulhea com fio de um metro pra fazer as 2 meias juntas .
Great pattern 😀 does the turtlepurl have enough yarn to swatch? Or would you use the heel colour to swatch?
Just start knitting the toe...it doesn't take long, and you can get enough fabric to measure gauge in no time.
This video is fantastic! I have a question, but it isn't quite applicable to this video. :-/ Do you have any tips for keeping good tension when working butterfly stitch?
Sorry, I don't think I'm familiar with that stitch.
@@verypinkknits Thank you for reply
I can’t get the German short rows to look right. Can I substitute shadow wraps?
I'm not familiar with shadow wraps - but if it is another way to work short rows, it should work.
Ja, du kannst "shadow wraps" stattdessen machen. :) Mir ist diese Technik allerdings zu umständlich. Ich bleibe bei unseren Doppelmaschen (German short rows).
Are you using size 2 DPNs for the crochet cast on?
For the pattern you use that size. For the demonstration in the video, I'm using larger to make it easier to see.
Oh, now I understand. Thanks so much for clarifying.
Maybe I missed the explanation but why are the “funny double stitches” essential?
So that you can turn the work in the middle of a row without leaving a hole in the work.
Lol doing toe up german short rows with fingering weight on 9 in circulars... I'm using your pattern but making adustmants
Literally right now
I did too lol.
Sure, when will it be answered on your podcast? Not really a big fan of podcast but I'd love to hear the answer. My sore backside would thank you LOL
Sorry, I can't really say. We answer the questions in the order they come in.

Yes, you can reach me at staci@verypink.com.
Thank you Staci. I have the Sling sock Pattern. I will check it out. I love all your patterns.
I always get second glove syndrome :P
😙😙😙👍👍
.
Personally, I find US$8 too expensive for just a download. Can buy one whole hard copy book.
Hmm...you'd be hard pressed to find a print book for $8. My prices are in-line with other sock patterns, and my sock patterns have the extra value of video tutorials to go with them. Other patterns with video tutorials run upwards of $30 each. I do my best to provide great value for knitters.
Ok, I have to bite the bullet and make these. I have really wanted to try the TAAT toe up socks and it is one thing I've not mastered yet. :)
