Low quality, but fans today won't realise that only a handful of games were filmed each week. This game wasn't on tv. I can even recall the newspaper reports saying what a shame it was that there were no tv cameras to record Falco's first goal. This would have been filmed on a bog-standard camcorder by a member of staff, probably for training purposes, so they could review things later.
We dont realise how much technology has improved since those days, And being able to take photos and videos, and share it so easily is so easy these days with smartphones and tablets In those days, all this was the stuff of science fiction It makes people stop and think how far we've come in communications technology
@@albion7000 It would have been dubbed on later (years later). Really, this game was not on TV. I remember it very clearly. It wasn't even filmed from the TV gantry, as that's on the East Stand, opposite, and this guy wasn't one of the commentators from the 80s (there weren't that many). You can even see a fan's head get in the way after the fourth goal, as is becomes clear it was filmed from with the stand, not a tv gantry.
TheClassicalSymphony Liverpool are on another level to us and I have no problem admitting that. Spurs on the other hand, anything they’ve done we’ve always bettered.
TheClassicalSymphony Your word doesn’t mean anything. You won the double in 61, we then went and won the double three times - we bettered it. You’re not a sports journalist you’re full of shit.
TheClassicalSymphony Arsenal also have 11 more league titles than Spurs and we are the most successful club in the fa cup, we are a far superior club to Spurs and that’s just the way it is.
I was there , in the days when 14 year olds could go to a top game with " pocket money "(£1.10 kids, £2.20 adults). Go to the game without having to buy a ticket beforehand . Days when grounds would be packed 90 minutes before kick off. Not saying it was better, just how it was. However, there was matches at the Lane that had only 17,000 in mid 80's. as school kids use to go watch spurs one weekend and next weekend go with a school mate to Arsenal or West Ham, . Adults can't afford that now, forget about kid's.
Thats how it should be now. I can't afford to take my boys to premiership football and they love the game. Thank the lord I can still take them down to the local park and we can play for free!
@TheClassicalSymphony things are much cheaper now in general clothes cars shopping holidays. houses n rent are prob dearer. football is but it can afford to be as there is demand i suppose
Oh, how times have changed. I've been a Spurs supporter since 1957, so I've seen a fair lot of changes in my time. Arsenal are quite the different proposition these days, wouldn't you say!
I know I just started doing "Night work" (which was a all round strange experience at the time)so somehow I missed this game (which is hard to believe? And that goal by Mark Falco would bless any game of Football..The Build up down the right hand side by the "Right back" a fantastic cross and "Volley" finish...But to smash the "Old enemy" like that is gratifying to say the least!. I only wish they hadn't missed so many! . Superb!.COYS,COYS
That kicked off that day actually inside the ground starting in the Paxton end arsenal had a right go but got there arses handed to em by Paxton end they spilled onto the pitch were they got pelted by just about anything that wasn't nailed down to coin a phrase
Arsenal were appalling during this period. The next season was arguably even worse! I think they were knocked out of the Milk Cup at home, by Walsall and out of the FA cup by 'Boro.
Strange how.the hell the big match London cameras were not.there or BBC shamefuly , instead showing Fulham promotion push maybe or QPR, to be fair there are alot of North London Derbies that were on tv
Was this the game when the goo nerd chucked a petrol bomb at the shelf but it landed in no mans land where the police were standing between the park lane and shelf I was in the enclosures for that game and shows how the petrol bomb is all I remember I guess 5 pints of light and bitter also does that
This brings back many memories of watching Spurs as a regular on the Shelf back in the 1970s and 1980s.

It's pretty good camerawork if it was done on a camcorder.
There's a tv commentator.

Sweet revenge for Boxing Day 1978! Thanks for putting this up :)
What about 1971 mate?

TheClassicalSymphony Course it does, because you did it once and we done it three times which is obviously better?

@TheClassicalSymphony things are much cheaper now in general clothes cars shopping holidays. houses n rent are prob dearer. football is but it can afford to be as there is demand i suppose
i was also there aged 16
@r que He more than likely exaggerated. He probably paid 40k as apposed to 80k. 🤔

I was there and will never forget it. Mark Falco's two volleyed goals were stunning. Nothing better than thrashing Arsenal.
I was at this match, up the Shelf.
THE place to be!
I started as a 10yr old in the Paxton rd end, then moved up to the shelf and ended up in the cage
@@a.m.armstrong8354 Used to love the Knees Ups !
@@albion7000 Best bit!
I always wished our camera angle was facing the shelf every week ..
Your wish is now true
That first goal was magic.
Nice to see this match with Spurs getting one over this lot in such emphatic style. #Paybacktime

In the Paxton this day 😀
Are you THE Martin Howarth of Redifon?

Spurs lost 3 times to Arsenal the following season.
@@emiliozorlakki9537 yes. But Arsenal were still appalling in 82-83 and 83-84 :-)
Takes me back...Falco was a great goal scorer but what happened to him.?!
falco's goal !!! fucking hell what a strike.
Quality!!! COYS!!!
Superb performance
Was at this game in the park lane left at 4-0 was penned in by police outside the ground nearest I felt to death crush was horrendous
This game could have ended in a double figure win for Spurs , if Alan Brazil had his shooting boots on , who actually should have scored 5 himself .
I was there great day but I was also there when we lost 5-0 not so great
Same here, mate. Life's highs and lows summed up in a couple of games!
Be honest bradys goal was a wonder

Easter Monday game, I think, so not the usual highlights shows.

Simon Thompson wrong game that was the game we Arsenal won with 6 reserves haha
@@Andy-ij5dc Easter 1980
The good old days where the goalie can grab a pass from his/her teammates.
I'd say it was great quality
filmed from opposite side
red flag It was where the club did their own coverage from.
COYS!
not glen hoddle for Spurs???
We had a few injuries that day + still smashed them! COYS
Coulda shoulda been NINE.
Not the original commentary.
Clearly a modern interpretation of the art, too much to say that adds nothing to the pictures.
There wasn't any original commentary. This was never broadcast on tv.
Don’t think they ever won 5-0 at Highbury though as Arsenal did at White Hart Lane in 78.
Dislike for low quality
Ask for your money back.
