New videos every Friday!
Don't accidentally eat the paper on the bread, y'all
It's ok. We have all been there. 🍞📃
Extra fiber? 😅
But what would you rate it? 🤔
@@MawthmahnJust ok. It doesn't ruin anything, but it also doesn't add anything.
Wait paper on bread is a thing??
Pepper jelly and cream cheese is a classic. I can’t believe neither of you had tried it before.
Yes it was a staple where I grew up in WV! I didn't know trader Joe's sold it. Going to have to get it :)
Thanksgiving appetizer staple is cream cheese pepper 🌶 jelly.
Thank you! I just went to the comments to make sure everyone knew how good this combo is.
Or with goat cheese is so good too! Pepper jelly is the best
I immediately came to the comments looking for this. This with crackers was an appetizer STAPLE when I was growing up.
Funny you said the cookie butter tastes like airplane cookies because those lotus biscoff cookies which are the airplane cookies are speculoos! So you were right on the money!
Came into the comments to find this! I love Biscoff cookies and speculoos in general 😅
Kitchen and Jorn really said: “Give us this day, our daily spread.”
pepper jelly with cream cheese or brie is DELICIOUS
Agreed! Same with fig jam on brie
Agreed! Kitchen ought to spread it on Brie.😂😂😂😂😂
As someone who does like raspberries, Raspberry Jam is ALWAYS superior to Strawberry Jam
ALWAYS! 😊 strawberry 🍓 jam sucks xx
Blackcurrant jam blows both out the water 😁
Raspberries are one of the most delicious things to ever exist.
Strawberry jam for cakes, raspberry jam for toast.
Watching yalls video tonight helped me calm down from a near panic attack. Thank you for making it feel like we're actually just hanging out with yall!! Thanks for being you, yall feel like real friends, and you help me feel better when I'm feeling low because I don't feel so alone.
Kristen, Jen, and Brie, you all make a positive difference in our lives! Thank you!
This is so sweet to hear
I thought I was the only one who watches them when I have anxiety. It’s like a comfort show thing. It’ll take me from panic attack to sleeping like a baby!
Jen, my highschool French teacher in North Carolina did the exact same thing. Twice a semester she showed up with croissants and Nutella and everyone thought it was the best 😂
Kitchen won’t eat “spiced cardboard🎶@“ but that spiced paper..😏 so good Jorn needed to try 😂😂
Lemon curd makes a great pastry/ tart filling
Good on top of yogurt too
Lemon curd on toast is a treating myself breakfast.
I like red pepper jelly, but mostly with like brie or havarti or some other mild cheese on like a bit of toasted baguette!!! Might be nostalgia though, that was considered “rich people food” growing up, so it was a coveted treat at friends houses
Speculoos spread is weird on bread but excellent when melted and eaten with ice cream
I just eat it off the spoon honestly, but I like it on toast too, it gets a bit melty and it's cinnamon toast vibes.
The pepper jelly would be amazing on left over turkey sandwiches.
Speculoos is made by Biscoff, but I think TJ’s can call it speculoos because it’s just the name of the cookie, and not propriety.
Speculoos is a type of biscuit, biscoff is a brand.
@@Rose-jz6sxYes, Biscoff is the brand name for speculoos made by Lotus. Speculoos is the Belgian version of the Dutch biscuit speculaas (the latter has a lot more spices).
The Maple Cranberry Orange spread tastes like eating a Bath and Body Works candle.
In a good way..? Or..?
😂😂😂
Lemon curd is a staple in the U.K., and it’s delicious!
Pepper jelly on cream cheese is a popular appetizer (at least it is here in Western NY)!
My Grandmother actually adores pepper jelly mostly the jalapeno one. This kind of jelly reminds me of cowboy candy jalapenos actually and it comes in different flavors and spicyness.
Okay ya’ll! You gotta try the pepper jelly on a burger. A fav burger place of mine and my husbands, Jack Browns in VA, has a burger called the Cobra Kai and it is wagyu beef, cream cheese, pepper jelly, pickled jalapeños and it is sooo freaking good.
I feel like Kristen would love polish gingerbread it’s called ‘ pierniki’ they are so much better than normal gingerbread biscuit. They are soft and are covered in very thin sugar coating so the outside is crunchy and the inside is all soft and lovely
Hot pepper jelly with cream cheese is fantastic. If I ever run out, I just use salsa. I mix them together instead of spreading one on top of the other and it’s always a hit. Try it!
Pepper jelly in my experience has always been a sauce for like meat or Brie/cream cheese, it’s always been savory. It’s interesting to see it used as a sweet jelly! I think on a grilled cheese, it could be great too
I'm conflicted because I've had 2 of the things that you guys tried today, the Spekuloos cookie butter which I loved, and the fig butter which I actually loved more....so now I think I might not share your taste AT ALL. So confused, but in an amused way!
The pepper jelly is bomb. Y’all just ate it wrong. Put it on some Brie. Chefs kiss!
I really like the lemon curd on waffles with butter! I personally wish it was just a BIT more tart but it actually tastes more tart when warmed up!
Oh man... I love that pepper jelly! It goes great with blue cheese and goat cheese.
Is pepper jelly not a thing other places in the country? Pepper jelly over cream cheese served with triscuits is a staple hors d'oeuvre to bring to a dinner party where I grew up. It's delicious! I haven't had the Trader Joes one though.
The pepper jelly is amazing with brie, especially baked brie!
We MUST end the almond slander! Love em. 🫶
It made me question everything they've ever reviewed. Almond croissants, pignoli cookies, almond tofu... Almonds are delicious.
Strawberry jam normally has a very high sugar content in order to make the pectin set. There's a special pectin that requires less sugar to gel, and those jams have a MUCH higher berry to sugar ratio, and are almost always tastier.
To be called jam the produce must be equal parts fruit, and sugar, that’s why the lower sugar ones are called preserves,at least here in the US.
I cannot get over how much it looks like Dustin has hair because of the color of his fur and the fact that it parts down the middle! He's so cute!
If airplaine cookies are Lotus, they are speculoos so that is why it tasted like that😉
I've had a lot of big sad days lately but y'all's videos are a bright spot that lift my spirit and make me feel less alone. Thank all three of you for being you, being open and being there! 💙💙🖖🏻
Pepper jelly is really good instead of a chutney with really strong cheese, cold meats or in a cheeseburger or on fried chicken or something like that. I honestly wouldn’t put it on a slice of sweet brioche like it’s a fruity jam or jelly it’s much more a condiment so I’m not surprised that it blew your mind 😂
👴👴👴 smushed up grandpa 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I was not ready for that much laughing!!! Love you guys!!! ❤❤❤
Quote of the Day: “Preserves are jelly that went to college, calm down.”
Pepper jelly on eggs! Yum! And I second the cream cheese and pepper jelly combo.
I have the medium take of "Nutella and cookie butter are both overrated" 😅 Yeah I'll eat 'em, but I definitely don't seek 'em out. Also! I forget what the food was, but I think in a past video the reduced sugar orange juice(????) also rated more highly with y'all than the full sugar version :D Sometimes things just don't need all that sugar! Besides the raspberry preserves here haha
“Tastes like homework.” - The New York Times
The Raspberry preserves are one of my faves, too. That's one of the things I've gone to Trader Joe's just to get. I was surprised how happy i was that you guys liked it, too.
I'm going through a difficult health thing, and I've been going through and watching all your videos when I need something to help take my mind off things. Thank you for doing what you do!
MIght be a little late because they sell out fast, but it would be interesting to see you guys compare trader joes vs aldis "advent calendars." I know both have a wine one, and I believe a cheese one, and probably other comparable ones. Plus pet ones lol
Have y'all ever done a Little Food Fight for building a charcuterie board? One of my favorite things about videos like these is when you both have thoughts on what contexts the foods you're tasting would be best in - it'd be neat to see that put toward a multi-spread plate, esp with how creative you could get with it! ^__^
They actually have!
I actually like almonds, but I'm not a fan of almond butter. There's not enough oil in almonds to make a pleasant texture.
Kristen should drop a comedy album featuring Spiced Cardboard
I live in Canada and I don't have access to shopping at Trader Joe's, but I watch all of these videos anyway because you two are so entertaining!
Speculoos Cookies are the doop of Biscoff Cookies, which is the brand of cookies airlines give out so you are correct. Also, Spread Fact - Jellies are made with juice or fruit syrup, Jams are made with a fruit mash and preserves are made with whole fruit. This also means Jellies will tend to have more sugar, jams a mid amount, and preserves the least. You didn't have any of the other 3 gelatin-based spreads, but Chutnesy is just a Jam with spices and/or vinegar, Marmalade are Jams made with citrus, and Compotes are Preserves that you eat right away instead of preserving. I will also point out that the Curd had a different texture because it is not gelatin-based. Its texture comes from egg and butter reacting with the acid of the citrus.
Speculaas isn't a dupe of Biscoff. That's like saying tissues are a dupe of kleenex.
Pepper jelly is great mixed with brie or cream cheese for dips. Its also a nice condiment on a breakfast sandwich.
I used to work at Trader Joe's, and one of the things we made at the demo station was chicken cooked in fig butter. It's pretty good if you don't mind sweet chicken!
Omg...I'm also from chicagoland, and was introduced to Nutella in Spanish class for a "fiesta day,." 😂
Pepper jelly, sour cream with green onions with salt and pepper on one of TJ’s green onion pancakes 💅
4:52 Every company these days has a Nutella Dupe. Also, I’ve tried the Pillsbury one and it’s really nice.
Every time I remember how much water it takes to grow almonds I’m baffled all over again.
Well I’ll be off in my corner enjoying the maple cranberry orange spread… it could just be my jar, but I get a real maple-y taste, which I think is pleasant.
Did you guys put out an especially hilarious video on my birthday on purpose? Lmao this one was especially funny and wacky, I love you guys❤
Yay!weekly dose of Kitchen&Jorn!
My UK French teacher would bring in Nutella and Orangina for 'French lunch' lol.
You ladies crack me up. Thanks for just being fun to watch!
Just gonna say that pepper jelly is a big thing in Louisiana. And yes, you put it on a block of cream cheese, and you spread them both onto a cracker. DELICIOUS.
Omg in my French classes we would have “culinary exploration days” and we’d all research and try to make different foods! It was so fun - I’m sorry Jen’s lunch days weren’t good 😂💛
If you aren't a fan of ginger, then you won't be a fan of gingerbread. It's in the title.
I will never not watch the food review videos with you guys 😍😍 it just brings me some joy from my depression
I LIVEEE for your videos ! Love it when you guys upload
I mean, the true fans on this channel know when a fight happens and it’s usually commences unannounced lmao jk
LMAO our fights are bite sized
Love this video, and all the review videos! I've found so many tasty products thanks to y'all. Reduced sugar strawberry and full-sugar raspberry are definitely the best jams/jellies. Though some of these are just not gonna shine on plain bread, sadly! Pepper jelly with cream cheese, on something like a ritz cracker, is SO good. And the cookie butter is delicious on apple slices.
i love you both so much. Never stop making content!! (unless a better opportunity arrives of course)
You can also eat pepper jelly with cheese straws
LMAO Jen eating paper in solidarity. 😂 love it!
obsessed with the fact that jen has (what looks like) a plastic knife
Thank YOU, Kitchen and Jorn for making me smile, and laugh. I appreciate you both.
Hiiiii Dustin, you’re so freekin cute 🤩🤩❤
Cookie butter and peanut butter sandwiches is my midnight snack of choice
Use the cookies to make a crust and mix the spread in the cream cheese. Yummy cheesecake!!!
I always want to head to Trader Joe’s after these videos! Lots of love to you all!
You have to try the jam with cream cheese and ritz it's a must!
Can’t believe that I am a day behind on watching this but love this
my family SWEARS by the Pepper Jelly. It's always on our charcuterie boards.
"Tastes like homework" is hilarious for how I know EXACTLY what they meant. Favorite new descriptor.
You guys are brave souls lol I would be terrified to try some of those spreads. Love you both! ❤
OMG DUSTIN! We need a Dustin update he looks so different! What a precious angel!
Pepper jelly is such a classic! Especially with cream cheese on a cracker omg
Fruit was involved in making this. So happy!
i buy cookie butter during winter, very comforting stuff.
Haven't even watched the video yet but Jen's hair is looking fire.
I love pepper jelly with plain goat cheese. It’s lovely
The vocal stylings this episode! 🎶
Made me laugh out loud several times 😂
Pepper jelly isn't like a morning breakfast spread. It's used an appetizer - cream cheese, pepper jelly and wheat thins. Or meatballs/cocktail weenies with pepper jelly and some other sauce like bbq in a crockpot.
The pepper jelly is an ingredient, not breakfast. And Jen needs to try spicy stuff poured over cream cheese. Bc it’s delicious. ;). #texas
I feel the same about gingerbread. I love all your videos😍😍😍
Dustin's floof has re-boofed!
Honestly, I’m begging you to release spiced cardboard - it would’ve been my anthem this holiday season 😂
Thank you for trying all of these delicious-sounding things so I don't have to! 💛
I loved Brie’s fly by❤️
I tried the cookie butter once many a year ago because everyone was raving about how incredibly delicious it was...yeah...I didn't like it at all. 😂
The UK is MAD about all things Lotus Biscoff … which is your cookie butter! You can get it flavoured in literally everything! It’s as big as Nutella!
i also didn't like the cocoa almond butter at first, but after i had it a couple of times i ended up LOVING i (once i totally let go of the expectation for it to be like nutella), it's so good to grab just a spoonful of
Serious Trigger Warning if you’re an Almond, Jelly or anything to do with Gingerbread Kitchen just goes H.A.M and you will feel some kind of way 😂😂😂
the dustin guest starring made my day!
I loved the Brie cameo! :D
sweet pepper jalepeno jam is great on chicken and pork
