I'm normally an iPhone Pro Max user but I'm seriously lovin my Z Flip 5. There's just something so fun to use about it that I can't explain, and it's satisfying to open/shut, and there's actual utility with propping it open and using the cover screen esp for taking photos or watching videos while conserving battery by only powering the smaller screen

I bought a 15 Pro Max and thinking of returning it for the flip 5 (with 12 pro trade in and student discount I can get it for 400 instead of 850 for the 15 Pro Max). I checked it out in store today and it seemed great, but we all know there's a huge difference between using it for 20 minutes vs buying it and using it every day.
@@saitodosan9377 my only beef was that I kept having to open and close it very often for work when scanning things.
It’s definitely got a cool factor , but also lack some practicality, like not being able to take a picture with the rear camera obviously when it’s closed, only a selfie, of course. And a few other things that didn’t necessarily keep my love for it.

I 100% agree with you on the presentation. It's ridiculous that they keep charging more for phones but they keep taking things away year after year. You go back 10 years ago to when I got my first android, it was the Galaxy Note 3. That phone was like $500 or $600, I think, and it came with a charging brick and headphones. Now, you don't get the charging brick, you don't get headphones, you don't get a headphone jack, you don't even get a dongle to convert USB C to 3.5mm, so you're on the hook for that if you want to use wired headphones. It's insane and needs to stop. They don't even allow expandable storage anymore, and they used to have removable batteries too. Plus they remove cool little features as well. My Note 3 had an IR blaster so I could use it as a TV remote - that shit really came in handy when I was at a restaurant or somewhere with an obnoxiously loud TV. I could just turn it down with my phone. For a while, Samsung even put heart rate monitors in their phones, but I don't think they do that anymore either. We need to get more features and more accessories out of these phones if they're going to charge more year-over-year. Keep doing what you're doing, brother. Keep putting pressure on them!

My flip 3 was an amazing phone for the 3 years and few months I've had it.
It never gave me any major issues besides the Screensaver pulling up; but I recently got the flip 5 and my goodness I'm impressed and fell in love with the flip series more

I totally agree! Flossy covers just about every feature a new phone has and does a great comparison to the previous model, as well as other phones with similar features. I watch and listen to everything he has. I value his opinion more than anyone else's!
As someone who downgraded from a fold to a flip ... it fits in your pocket... great way to take back your life and live again.

I'm considering doing the same in November. I'm tired of all the weight of my Z Fold 3 5G, poor battery life, etc. I even bought the Samsung case (w/S pen) and don't even use it. The only redeeming feature of the Z Fold 3 5G is the Samsung DeX, which I can use to stream services like Max to my TV. Otherwise, a very overpriced phablet (and I have the Galaxy Tab S6 tablet to work and watch movies, etc., on a portable device)...
@diannehortonpong1388 for the price of the upgrade to get a fold 5 I was able to get a flip 5 and tab s9+ (on presale pricing) a win win.
@@diannehortonpong1388 currently use both a flip 5 and fold 3. The flip is deffo a more comfortable and enjoyable phone to use day in and out as its lighter, narrower and smaller when folded. The inner screen on the fold though is good for viewing media though!.
I've been using the same Samsung no camera flip phone since 2006. Resisted upgrading because the newer phones got so large. Saw this model in the store and all else paled in comparison. 17 years is a LONG time ago tech wise, I'm sure I will be amazed.😮

I've had my Fold 5 since Monday, and I honestly love it sm. I thought the outside screen would be too thin, but it's definitely not! I use it way more often than I thought I would. 9.5/10 for me so far. Only downside, lacking in the rear camera. Other than that, it's incredible.
That's crazy because I sold my fold 4 after a few months because the outside screen was way too narrow and bad to use. I hated having to walk around in public with an unfolded monster, I felt like a jackass.

@ahmeda4792 I don't really have any "real-world" tests, if that makes any sense?? I drive a lot for work, so I am always near a charger. When I go to the gym, it stays locked in my car, and I play music from my watch... Sooo I don't really stress test the battery much. I don't think I've gone below 50% since I got it?

I agree with Floss on the IR blaster. My kids are forever losing the damn batteries to the remotes, and when there's a wifi outage, I can't control my tvs. Bring back the IR Blasters, Samsung.
Presentation Matters a lot. Especially on the premium models. I get it not giving anything on the B tier phones but on the "ultra" and "Z" lines all essential accessories (charger, pen, dongle, and case maybe even a headset) should be INCLUDED IN THAT PRICE (ALREADY BEEN OVERPRICED)

I dunno might be a thing for some folks but as someone whose almost 30, with OCD, I hope headphone jacks never return. All my youth I absolutely hated wires connecting my ears to whatever I was listening to music on, it always annoyed the hell out of me. Hell, I hate wires so much that I don't even like plugging my phone in to charge it, I always use wireless charging. Now maybe thats just one of my flaws, like people who somehow constantly drop their phones (to this day have never once dropped or even scratched my phone/screen, my devices upon trading them always look like they were just removed from their packaging), so yeh maybe it's just my flaw when it comes to things, but I seriously can't understand why folks want head phone jacks back. it baffles me...We're supposed to move forward..not backwards.
Bro I still remember when I unboxed my OnePlus One. It was the first phone I could ever buy outright with money in the bank. It came with that sick red charging cable, and it was presented in such an incredible way; even the box it shipped in was exactly the right size. To this day I've never had a nicer phone unboxing experience. I even remember sitting at my parent's table and pulling up the tab, opening the side door like oh my wowwww. It was my favorite phone if all time and I still got the box and everything even though my brother trashed the phone it's in its box looking like a wreck... But the unboxing experience was next level and I'll remember that forever. I'm still chasing that feel when I get a new phone. THAT'S why presentation matters.
i actually prefer the look of the samsung outer display over the motorola one i had the flip 3 and it was great but wanted something with some extra power so upgraded to the fold 4 waiting to see what they do with the next versions or maybe the 7 but the flip is definetly heading in the right direction and not gonna rule out going back to one at some point but for now im happy with my fold 4, but with the watch im a little dissapointed that they didnt do the 6 classic in titanium with a rotating bezel
I like the design better on Samsung as well. Having the cameras in the display to me messes with me to much. Hole punches dynamic island etc to me ruins the display experience.
From my experience with the flip 5. That bigger outer display basically uses the same setup as the Galaxy watch, so it's kind of like they designed it so you don't need to watch with it. Now aside from the health tracking, yeh with the flip 5 theres really no need for the watch unless you just really want the watch.
Thanks to Flossy's earlier review, I traded in my Flip 3 for a Flip 5 and my Classic Watch 4 for a Classic Watch 6. Both are fantastic!
I agree the presentation is a big part of getting a device, i miss the charging brick, earbuds the usb to usb c dongle, its impressive when mid range phones put all of that for way cheaper and the main stream ones are getting a little greedy with all of that
I agree but not about the dongle. Time to throw those usb a bricks and cords in the trash. I wouldn't expect them to cater to dinosaur tech.
@PackMan13x honestly yeah it may be unnecessary but i liked connecting a mouse with that and using a bluetooth keyboard, basically using my note as a small laptop, again unnecessary but useful at times
@@Zalo17 nah not useful at all considering you got Dex which basically does that anyway except wirelessly or you just connect a bluetooth mouse and keyboard to it. And the fold and flip you can do that in flex mode, so yeh they literally took away any need for those things. Move Forward, not backward.
@@PackMan13x FR it's 2023 and people are still crying about no headphone jack or micro SD slot. The microSD slot I guess I can understand, but with google cloud and samsung cloud and even apple's cloud, having more storage than we currently have is just unnecessary. I can rock a 128gb device and be perfectly fine and never get close to using all my storage. The only way i can get even close is if I download a lot of high tier games, but just pictures videos and basic apps and maybe 1 or 2 games, dude I'm always sitting with about 100gb left and I take a ton of pictures and videos but those are always only a couple mb.
I appreciate the "after these commercial break" warning and honestly hadn't seen anyone do that yet. Makes it feel more put together and as if you were there showing me in that moment. Great video. My flip5 is being delivered today!
You are 💯 % correct about the presentation. They're asking for too much money 💰 and not including the basics. I totally agree with you, and anyone who earns their money should agree.. IMHO. Don't stop complaining. Hopefully, they'll listen someday.

I’m glad I exchanged the razr+ for the zflip 5 the no always on display was a deal breaker for me happy with my zflip 5 and goodlock makes the cover display way more better being able to add more apps is great. My man Floss is always ahead of the game another dope video.

My wife got it last week. The bigger outer display is a game changer! I'm still waiting to get my Fold5 shipped but have to say, if the Flip5 would support S Pen, telephoto camera and more RAM, I would buy it, too.
I sent the fold 5 back and kept the s23 ultra. Gotta hold Samsung responsible for trying to get people to buy the same phone. They should have made that front screen larger. Zero excuse and now the Chinese competition is winning

I had the s22 ultra and the s23 ultra and the Folds 3 and 4. Neither of those were any real different from their predecessor. So you basically contradicted yourself by saying you went back to the s23 ultra because the fold 5 is just the same as the fold 4. lmao
On presentation I'm with Flossy. If you're paying for a phone that's too gat damn high you need a presentation that goes with the price tag.
This is why they concentrated on the flip 5 and not the fold 5. Next year Fold 6 will be a game changer . I'll upgrade then from my fold 3 that's still working good 👍🏽

@@FlossyCarter Their deal just ended...sucks cause was waiting til i got paid next week to buy the flip 5 and would have only spent $400 with my trade, but with deal over I'd be paying almost $600. ah well... I was leaving AT&T anyway due to their stupid policy where phones on installment plans can't be used on other accounts otherwise they blacklist them, which destroys the trading game in the community... So I'll be getting a flip 5 with a new carrier which is fine cause, for both t-mobile and verizon especially t-mobile, it looks like I can get a flip 5 with trade in and new line for absolutely $0. I'm down with that.

I was gonna upgrade but I just fell in love with the s23 in my hand. I went from the flip 3 to s23. Plus Verizon didn't have the lavender color in the flip 5 lol which I wanted. 😂

The At&t preorder deal was insane! I got $1000 off for an old broken note8 I found lying around the house. Even if it wasn't free, I would have easily paid full price. Going from flip 1->5 has been insane
I think Samsung switching from aluminium to titanium could bring the weight down or keep it the same while allowing for a bigger battery say 4200mha. Won’t be a massive improvement but might add an hour or so on the battery and titanium would be another featured selling point
Picked up my flip 5 last night, loving it. Got such a great deal on it, got a free Samsung t-shirt and keychain sim popper tool too. Zero regrets and still have my pixel 7 pro if I know I'm going somewhere that I'll want to take some quality photos. Happy camper
The case I use on my Flip 5 doesn't budge and also protects the hinge and has a built-in outer screen protector. The style is black carbon fiber. It's pretty solid. Truthfully, I wanted to get the Razr+ but got a much better deal to get the Flip 5 so that's what I did, No regrets.

First came across your channel when researching the Flip 3, and ended up getting it. Now not only has your video educated me on Samsung Good Lock (never heard of it before. Ended up watching the rest of your video on my cover screen), but now I'm here wanting the Flip 5 even more and wondering how small of a discount I'd get for it trading in my Flip 3 😅
Much respect, Floss. I bought the RAZR+ about a month ago but, between the subpar camera, low amount of RAM (compared to my S21 Ultra), horrible cell reception and wifi, and the subpar android skin (I'm a Samsung/OneUI fanboy), it just wasn't doing it for me. So I returned it and waited it out for Samsung to release the Flip 5. Currently typing this on my Flip 5 and I love it. The cover display is not as versatile, but using GoodLock I can use most apps on the cover display with minimal problems, so it's good enough for me. Compared to my S21 Ultra, the Flip 5 is worse in almost every category, but it's still better than the RAZR+ simply because it has the Samsung skin on Android. Can't wait to see what they do with the Flip 6 next year! I might upgrade yearly if they bring back the $900 trade-in + $50 credit like they had for folks who upgraded from Flip 4 to Flip 5 this year.

My absolute favorite part about Floss is that he doesn't pull any pubches when talking about the negatives. On the fluosude the positives are also great as well. Im getting mine here in a few days.
This thing is pretty nice. The only thing I don't like is how narrow the display is, but it seems to be worth the price (I like to do the installment plan and pay it off early though).
the screen's not too bad. When I saw the phone I thought it looked narrow too and it is, compared to normal candybar phones but it really isn't too narrow.

I'm typing this right from the front screen and loving it!!! The selling point for me was the cover screen and I was hyped as fxk to start typing from the front screen. It's so much easier and I don't have to open my phone for every single thing.
I already ordered cases but I do need a good screen protector next.

Flossy, I'm 100% with you on the ir blatter and Samsung dex. I always used my ir blaster and boy do I miss it! Also after with the presentation and think they should put a case, screen protectors and dongle and chargers in the case. I also think the flip 5 should have faster charging speeds.
Facts I had a Huawei mate 20 pro before my pixel 6 and I always used the ir blaster and my friends and family even started knowing if they lose the remote just ask me to do it from my phone😂😂. But now I can't do that
I love the flip but I feel like its not fully matured yet. Even though this is the best foldable phone so far, I'd probably wait at least 2 or 3 more generations before considering one. I like the S series the best overall

I love when you talk presentation. I am here for it. I dig when you review budget BLU phones and point out they still include cases, chargers, sometimes earbuds. And yeah stickers and screen cloths. For $100 phones.

Not all apps are optimized for the cover display. Hopefully soon. The battery is fine for me. I use more my Tablet PCs at home. So I safe lots of battery.

I genuinely appreciate your videos Floss, it's about time someone call these fucking companies out (I'm a Samsung fan too btw). Fuck the "No charger, no casing, no headphone jack" bullshit, I spend RM5000 ($1200+) for a phone, I better be getting my money's worth. Love from Malaysia.
The Flip is the one I'm most interested in so I'm glad Samsung is continuing to improve it every year. At this rate it won't be long before folding phones catch up with the features of my s22 Ultra (cameras battery etc) and I'll be ready to upgrade
Samsung's not dropping the flip anytime soon. It's literally their best selling device out of all their phone series.

The people who don't care about the box or the presentation need to remember.... when the companies used to put the charger, dongle and screen protector in the box but don't anymore, the cost of the phones were cheaper than they are now. So now we're paying more for less. That should never be something you're ok with.

@nkmensah I'm not failing to account for inflation. Inflation has nothing to do with receiving less things in the box than we use to. This whole thing where companies don't put chargers, dongles, screen protectors or even headphones started long before the inflation we're seeing today. Plus.... during inflation like there is now, that doesn't equate to spending more for less. In the world of inflation, we're spending a lot more for the same products than just two years ago. We're spending more money for just a phone than we are for a phone, charger, dongle, headphones, screen protector, etc that came in the same package. If I'm paying top dollar for a product, I want all the basic accessories with it instead of paying more to buy them separately. E waste? I don't give two shits about e waste, especially when it comes to getting the bang for my buck. One household with at least one USB adapter I guess would be fine if there was only one person in that household instead of a whole family sharing one USB adapter. You'd be in denial if you said otherwise. 🙄

Hated the skinny front display too and had to open that giant hog up to use it. Got annoying in public, in the car, etc. Now I'm getting this Tuesday when it shows up.

@@aweparky I like the size of the phone a lot more than the cover screen of the fold. Watching videos and stuff on it isn't nearly as good, but the overall usability is much better in day to day use, so I'm enjoying it
I agree with you on including chargers in the box. That's pretty much unanimous I hope. But with people still buying their phones as is i.e. without accessories in the box, Samsung and Google will keep doing it. Straight b.s. but it won't change until consumers collectively rebel

The Fold5 folded is small though, and it can easily fit in your pocket.

Idk if you did it or not but i switched my s21 ultra for the Flip 5 and tbh im loving it especially how small it is folded and how convenient it is. I take a lot of pictures for my job and the camera is amazing tbh. I dont miss my s21 ultra at all .
I traded in my flip 3 (with the original box!) and got 700 dollars for my trade in, but didn't see thatb50 dollar rebate. I used to charge my flip 2-3 times a day and now only once, if that with moderate use with the new snapdragon. And I get to do so much stuff from the front screen. It's useful for my daily lifestyle.
For the cover screen, can you go into developer options and check the "Never sleep while charging" so that it always is on when you're charging?
Far as I know from my experience, AOD is AOD and when charging, mine stayed on by default.
I've been with Samsung forever too, Samsung Infuse 4G, Galaxy Note 1...they just make the best Androids. Wish they would throw more into presentation. I feel you Floss. I want it all!
Bro I went from iphone originally the iphone 4 to the Droid, to Samsung and even though I constantly go back to iphone every other generation, I always end up right back with Samsung. My only gripe with Samsung, is I wish the sotrage size we buy is the storage size we get instead of Samsung taking up 40-50gb of storage space just for their OS and system files unlike every other phone which uses at most like 15-20gb.
