- Rorate Caeli is a moving hymn from the Advent season. It feels like something right out of the Prophets. This version is sung by the monks of Santo Domingo de Silos.
Roráte caéli désuper, et núbes plúant jústum.
Ne irascáris Dómine, ne ultra memíneris iniquitátis: ecce cívitas Sáncti fácta est desérta: Síon desérta fácta est, Jerúsalem desoláta est:
dómus sanctificatiónis túæ et glóriæ túæ, ubi laudavérunt te pátres nóstri.

Peccávimus, et fácti súmus tamquam immúndus nos,
et cecídimus quasi fólium univérsi:

beautiful! the only thing that does not match is that Advent is the waiting for Christmas, so I don´t see the cross as the best image for Advent...
I thought about that Susana, yes. I was going to use an image of the Annunciation or the Nativity, but I was moved by the words centered around salvation. I felt that the Cross, the moment of salvation, was most fitting to the words. Of course the Incarnation is the beginning of the end of the reign of sin, but the Cross is the purpose of the coming. I just made a personal decision in this. Thank you for your comment.

Good Evening, it does match tho, it is impossible to separate the mystery of the cross with the nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ as he came to this world to die in the cross, like someone bellow on the comments mentioned, its something we can forget sometimes and thats why its shocking to see the cross next to the nativity, like i heard a monk say once: "Look at the image of the child in the manger, he came into the world with open arms, and 33 years later, he would open them again, now on the cross, and both times he did it for the same reason: love"
