      @@perfectfitboating aww brother, thanks. Loved the video.. We might try something different next year, still not 100% satisfied. Thank God we are going into winter. This year has been brutal with the record breaking heat. Big hugs brother. Still playing catch up with your videos. Not sure why I haven't seen the alerts come up. 🤔

      Thank you so much! We just got another ac system it’s a hatch ac. Cruisair carry-on by dometic! We’re going to do a video on that one and hopefully have it run off lithium when we can’t use our genset! 🤙

  • @MikeyDee25
    @MikeyDee25 7 месяцев назад +3

    Wow! I didn't realize you could have AC for so cheap. Great job and video guys! If I might suggest, you should swap the extension cord for a multi-outlet power strip; that way if you want to operate another electrical device while inside the cabin you won't have to run a separate extension cord from the generator. 😉

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating  7 месяцев назад +2

      Hey Mikey thanks for the comment! We’re actually thinking of changing this ac system for a window unit and mounting it permanently. Out On The Reef’s channel has had us thinking about ideas to do so. I think that’s a project I’ll be doing in the upcoming weeks.
      And thanks for the tip! We actually are going to set up a power strip just like you suggest, with multiple outlets and usb connections for running other devices and charging our phones, drones and cameras!
      We’ll also be installing an ac panel for running shore power but that’ll be in the future! Thanks for the comment brother! 🤙

  • @oceanairbrush
    @oceanairbrush 4 месяца назад +4

    Just a thought, when dealing with a boat in limited power supplies, you're looking for efficiency. An intake and an exhaust which are both routable to the outside are far more efficient and require far less power. Unfortunately the type of AC that you bought with the single exhaust takes your cool air from your cabin and ejects it outside and sucks additional warm air in. Sometimes spending a little more money for a better product is in your best interest. That said, your installation was very clean and well done

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating  4 месяца назад +2

      Youre 100% correct. I thought this idea would work in theory and it does work. But like you said it’s inefficient and requires a bit more modifying.
      It’s funny you mentioned in your other comment about a hatch AC because that’s exactly what we’re going to upgrade to. There’s plenty laying around on market place, just waiting for an 8000 btu one to pop up. That imo is the best solution. More efficient and frees up all the cabin space like you mentioned. We’re going to make another video once we find a good domestic carryon hatch ac on market place! 🤙

    • @derekec
      @derekec Месяц назад +1

      I don't follow that. Why would you want to intake 90 degree outside air? Like in a car A/C using the recirculate control much better cooling by intaking the already cooled interior air. What'dya think?

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating  Месяц назад +1

      We actually used this unit on our last trip to Bahia Honda in the Florida keys and it worked amazing! And it was HOT every day. We might just stay with this setup it’s just a little more simple. 🤙

      Dont need to get new doors made. Just get some white marine canvas or fabric and cut and them to size of hem the edges for each door then use velcro or snaps to hold them in place. Glue or double side tape velcro to wood in each corner on each door. Sew velcro to white marine canvas or any other marine fabric. You can also cut screen material on each door when not needing full cover or air conditioning to keep bugs and mosquitos out.
      Easy to do both and just roll them up for storage when not needed. They will fit in to a 12-14” length of 2” or 3” cut piece of pvc with 2 caps.

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating  11 месяцев назад

      @bjkgaffmaster that’s a great idea thanks! We thought about using plexiglass or acrylic but the doors are so beat up and almost coming apart that we might just change them out. But your suggestion definitely works for the meantime! Thank you so much! 🤙

    First, never put generator on Cabin Top. CO or Carbon Monoxide is heavier than air. Also, even on the stern, the CO can travel up the cocpit and into the cabin. Be very careful with a portable Gen on a boat. Above all, get a CO Detector. You will never know otherwise of CO poisioning.
