I never disliked FANG. It was as Tophat said well enough himself. He was designed to be an agitating antagonist and he played the role well.

I can definitely understand why FANG is considered one of the most hated characters in the SF franchise.
The under appreciated thing about Fang is that he’s the only Shadaloo member other than bison who actually had their own initiative.
While Vega, Balrog, Sagat and the Dolls are just henchmen who do what Bison says, Fang is the one actually making plans, putting them in motion and making sure they actually happen.

barlog was too busy being a dad, vega a creep, sagat, a menace etc;.
I used F.A.N.G. a little bit in SFV, I wasn't tremendous with him, but he was pretty dangerous if you knew his mix-ups.
As a villain in Street Fighter, I'm in the minority of viewing him as incredibly dangerous and more unpredictable than Bison, who was becoming rather frail at the time.
Im intrigued by Nakayama and Kazuhiro's take on A.K.I.'s play style, if it differs greatly from his. Being a manic tsundere will entice people to give the poison mechanic another chance. Because Capcom's figured out that extreme thirst sells

He's actually a cool character. It's just that he was suppose to be Sagat's replacement. A lot of people was turned off by how goofy he is. Had he not been in Sagat's place, I'm sure people would have been more open to him. I like the character. Would like for him to come back.

Juri is a sane individual compared to AKI, from the looks of things.

F.A.N.G. literally looks like the evil musicians from Kung Fu Hustle.
I honestly thought he was based on them. Just google it - the resemblance is uncanny.
I immediately got the reference. If you watch the exchange of strikes when the assassin was still in the shop, you should notice three things in particular. 1.) the assassin can fight in some really strange positions, in this case pressing horizontally off a wall. 2.) although not poison, the assassin uses shedding sharp nails. 3.) the first attack the assassin shoots out is from behind a distracting covering,,, the sheet of fabric, much like FANG's sleeves.

I think AKI and FANG make sense as some sort of team, what was done to seth was inexcusable however (there was no lore reason for them to return, let alone be redesigned).

There is a lore reason why Seth returned in that body, (Juri grabbing Seth’s personality CPU and used it to activate another android unit) but it still feels like outta nowhere.

A.K.I and F.A.N.G do have a sort of duo motif going on, someone pointed out that F.A.N.G is like the crane of his group and that A.K.I is like a snake...the snake motif for her is EVERYWHERE...her finger claws look like fangs, her hair looks like a cobra's hood...especially when she tilts her head back like in the teaser, her outfit looks like it's made of snake skin, her movements are rather snake like just like how F.A.N.G has some bird like motions and his clothing has the wide sleeves like a bird's wings. Even her laugh after the screen fades to black brings to mind a snake's flickering tongue.
Fang may be a 2 min man, but I still love him.
AKI is just a mixture of Juri and FANG yet I already like her creepy attitude, but nothing can be as freaky as Juri and my degenerate feeling for her feet 😂

Do you guys think she killed her brother? I haven’t read the story but it feels like that might be part of her training from how Fang said she needed to become a ghost.
The story seems to have a plot hole where the bro just disappears from the plot once FANG puts down the money and dagger. I just assumed FANG kills the bro, and Phantom didn’t care.
It's entirely possible that F.A.N.G either killed him himself or had A.K.I do it as a proof test to show she REALLY meant to go with him. It might be revealed in her Master interactions like how we got to see young Juri before she became how she is now.
The brother should have taken the money making FANG responsible for killing him. Maybe as a final test of AKI"s loyalty, FANG taught her how to make the antidote but said she can't give it to her brother and let him die.
I don't relatively have a distained hatred for any SF characters F.A.N.G being 1 of them. While is most often not super note worthy I do fine his backstory being very most intriguing being one to grow up and become an assassin with poison techniques. What's more much like often the case with Street Fighter characters being inspired by real world events (Balrog>Mike Tyson,Fei Long>Bruce Lee,etc) I feel the inspiration was of old Chinese/Japanese kung-fu films with his apparel design. Side note: most recently the 2 fighting musicians from the 2014 movie Kung-fu Hustle.
What's more is that of F.A.N.G's fighting style with his bird motif is supposedly the crane fighting style(Fujian white crane) which is a southern Chinese martial art in contrast to A.K.I which from judging from teaser trailer could be snake fighting style (Snake boxing or *Fanged* snake style) that would make sense going with her poison attributes. And look to be honest I don't think F.A.N.G is truly the worst character there is, at the very least he gets to do things a lot more than other characters in story *cough* Necalli *cough* Ryu. And as such him replacing Sagat as 1 of the 4 kings of Shadaloo makes more sense with him being more of obnoxious comedic relief villain to go with an angry meathead boxer, misogynistic flamboyant Spanish-ninja & malicious general dictator.
And let's be honest here , I'm no analytics here but often is the case that most players would drive to like a female character more in a fighting game (about maybe 80/85%). If A.K.I was a guy not many players would have much keen liking towards him being another version of F.A.N.G. It's just the mentality of "certain" players.

His design is great. The way he Carries himself is just downright silly. Wiggling around, prancing and flapping his arms all the time. He looks goofy. If he carried himself more like old man Gen then nobody would have a problem.

No doubt...I remember when SF4 wanted to put a character by the name of King Cobra to be a rival of Ken Masters, he looked cooler and would have been a more interesting character for future SF games.
But they changed in the last minutes by putting a fat man by the name of Rufus. It wouldn't surprise me if they never used him again.

Can I be honest? I still don't get what the whole deal with FANG is? Why's he like that? I don't mean to be offensive, but when he first appeared, I genuinely thought he was like a comedy stereotype of a gay guy? I'm not sad to see him replaced, because his entire character confused the Hell out of me.

@@Liliana_the_ghost_cat I mean that's partially the idea but if for some who clearly don't know the idea that went into creating him. for his design is mostly inspired of old school Chinese kung-fu movies and that his fighting style is that of crane style kung-fu which in any case for AKI I bet judging from the teaser would fight in a snake style martial arts that would make more sense with her poison.

Haven’t watched the video at all yet but I saw it, then saw the RUclips short for it, realized it was for the same video, and now I’m here. AKI seems like she could be really cool. I hope they do more with the stance change aspect of her.
I just hope she's more beginner friendly than FANG was, I agree that story segregation+wacky design+somewhat difficult moveset made him unpopular. Ironically those are the same reasons I love his character, I ended up getting the game because of him. Don't mind a little Broadway in my fighting games

I do quite like F.A.N.G. Due to his incredibly good writing, and he’s also one of my favorite SF5 characters to play. I just really like his play style.

I like streetfighter six, but if I’m honest, I think that they created way too many new characters and didn’t bring backing of older characters like, sagat, fei long, balrog! i mean, in Street, fighter two fei longs ending literally shows him running his own school!

I actually enjoy F.A.N.G. because I respect the effort in making him unlikeable. It's also cathartic to see him get beat up (I'm not the best fighting game player but the few time I've played him, it was fun even though I'm not that good). A.K.I. is also well-done for the same reason--the waifu quality is just another bonus imho! Also, great video!

Just look up a wiki for all the SF anime. There are quite a few.
Heck, SF4 also has lots of anime cutscenes, so that should count, too.
@@oak8194 You are referring to the old low quality cartoon show in the 90s. The alpha movie came out in 2000 it's 2023. They should put out a legit high quality anime series based off the games.

I'm definitely in the minority but i LOVED F.A.N.G. Great mix of goofy and threatening. My favourite aspect of him was how in love with being number 2, the second in command. He's so hype to be the lackey.

FANG sounds WAY cooler in the Story than in SFV
It's like a personality shift: in the side story he returns as cool and composed as in his nguuhao days. It feels to me that proximity to Bison fried his brains
I don’t know why people hate him, he seems like an interesting character, I immediately was drawn to his design because it was so unique. Same with his fighting style.
So , the shortest way i can explain this is as follows.
FANG should have died when mars pushed him to his death.
I wanted that coat of his at least burnt to a crisp or some sort of real damage.
So he permanently kills 2 characters and suffers little to nothing at all.
Meanwhile we cant even have the joy that he's dead for good after being crushed like a Disney Villian.
Seriously Capcom wth.
Flee And Nosell Guy or FANG for short is hated for many reasons.
All of them in my mind that i've heard are legit. Besides what i already listed.
But to me the greatest error with FANG is the poision mechanic.
A Rotation that is literally damage over time then don't get hit for a small bit of time then do a cheap shot is poor design id expect from Blizzard.

While im sure there are some people who liked FANG i feel his playstyle forced fast sloppy gameplay which made the fight less tactical and thus less fun.
I'm sure there are better ways to handle the concept of poision.

At least F.A.N.G. has similarities to Kefka, one of the greatest videogame villains ever... so at the very least, he has that going for him. He may look like a jobber, but is deceptively cunning in his own way. They even share the same Japanese VA.
The fact that he was able to capture Alex - a character who canonically defeated Gill, one of the most powerful characters in the series - and send him back after testing him with little effort makes me wonder... how easily could he threaten the relatives of the other fighters - like Sakura's immediate family, for instance - if he really wanted to? Sometimes I feel like the writers dropped the ball on his potential as a villain narratively.
FANG is just a glorified ass-kisser for Bison.
Lee & Mike weren't even playable... 🤨

I came to sf6 late. I didn’t spoil anything for myself so I knew nothing about any of the dlc characters. The first thing I played against was aki. I was like who’s this chick? Round one started she threw poison and I screamed out “Oh God why tf is this character still here?!”

Mika is not a "female gief" for example. Other than the fact she considers him a mentor, they have nothing in common. She plays like a luchador, she's Japanese and not Russian, does more striking then command grabs. Nobody with sense would call her a "Gender swapped Gief". Sakura tries to IMITATE Ryu, but she plays nothing like a shoto, which is why nobody calls her a Gender swapped Ryu. Top Hat even tried to called LILY a gender swapped T.Hawk....which was also ridiculous.

I never thought Fang had a very well written story. He is a real odd ball but writers didn't neglect his lore.
FANG just needed a little more of dignity to be cool. I mean goofy seconds in command are very common but they at least let them look cool for a while so when they do goofy stuff is funny is la the cake on the face joke is only funny if the victim as some dignity.

i don't think it's a gender swap. tbh it's more like the gameplay was hated and the charcter was ignored so they tought about make a new character, with a diferent gameplay.
I've never been a fan of F.A.N.G.'s character and character design to begin with.
Most of the new SF characters introduced in SF4 and SF5 were (to me) also pretty weak in their design.
In fact, out of all the new SF4/5F5 fighters that debuted therein....only Juri had long lasting popularity.
"Changing" him into A.K.I. is no big deal and although I'm not a fan of that weird mushroom hair, I think her overall design is far better.

El Fuerte, Rufus, G, Hakan and a few others could have been designed so much better. They should have brought back Q, Necro, Remy, Sean, Rolento, Guy or some more Rival Schools. characters.
