Juca, THANK YOU! Finally, a video on the Boss katana or any amp, with the person making the video does not assume all of us are experts at setting up a tone and a sound ! … This helps average player that doesn’t know a lot about about amps set boss katana in a manner where we have great sound results… Thank you so much!
Juca- thank you for showing us the great tones that can be dialed in on the panel! The Boss Katana makes it possible to get those classic blues tones that so many of us enjoy. (Great video sir).
Juca, you have been from the beginning and continue to be the Boss Katana master! Great content, and very simple for those of us that don’t always use the Tone Studio who want to dial in great tones.
Good tutorial on getting blues tones from the amp. No worries about the mistakes, sir! As Chet Atkins used to say when he goofed, "All mistakes are intentional."
The computer gives you the ability to change out some effects for better ones. You have the option of dozens of styles of overdrives. Most of the better ones are not naturally on the amp. If you want something you can just plug in and play then grab a tube amp. If you're buying this and not using 75% of its features it's kind of a waste of money. Using a computer doesn't make you a worse player. If anything it shows you know how to use your equipment, which shouldn't be considered a bad thing.
Just bought your patchs bundle pack ...speechless amazing... i just bought the Katana MK1 100w head last week, thank you you saved me major time and headhache noodling around !!! thumbs up i'm a fan
Suppose it's not for everyone but I enjoyed noodling around! I also looked at some patches from artists and learned about using an octave pedal to make this amp sound HUGE! the rate is 4 and you tune it just slightly in so it doesn't sound like a harmonizer, you sadly need a computer to achieve this
brilliant been looking for a video like this for ages shame its taken so long for me to find but I'm so glad I have now looking forward to more from you
Started Up this New AMP and even at 5watts it sounds great as you [[play with it here. And you ARE SO RIGHT this is WHY I Got this Amp......No Petals Needed Do love the Foot Switch ! Thank You Yaca Nery...........BTW I received Notification that the 40 Watt Positive Grid AMP is shipping I ordered it Dec 9 2019..........Wow. Hell of a wait!
That sounds awesome on the 100 head pushed through. A kat 50 mk2 ex , wow got your tones dialed in quick . , ( easy to get lost fiddling with dials , cheers buddy
Hi juca this was great thanks quick question how do I get the patches and live sets the same volume I know you have shown us on a video just can’t find it thanks a lot Dave
Is this amp good for modern metal music (downtuned, dropped and 7 string guitars) or better for blues/rock? Does it good react to volume knob on your guitar like a tube amp or Yamaha THR (making clean and distorted sound)?
Any tips on how to get rid of the buzzing and hum. when I increase my gain past 12 o'clock I get an over powering noise from my katana. When am at band rehearsals my amp is the only one that does it so I know it's not the building wiring. The other guitarists use a Marshall mg100fx and a vox valvetronix with no problems. I play a fender mij strat and when I use there amps I dont get any problems. The noise is that bad I've had to stop using my amp at rehearsals any dramatic increase in gain and volume is unbearable!
I get this buzzing and hum constantly as well and I’ve had my katana 50 for a year. So frustrating man. I’ve never hooked it to Boss tone studio as I don’t even own a PC ! I always have trouble getting a good clean tone ?! I have a Dean Dave mustaine zero punk guitar with active pickup I don’t know how many coils ? I findly found a good distortion on the clean channel with the internal distortion pedal the orange light cranked for metal.. but even that could be better someone told me to get an external Boss overdrive pedal to boost the internal distortion. So many videos and comments I read through on the Katana 50 but I still don’t understand how it really works. I have to factory reset it like every time so I can erase the mud and start over. Guess I need BTS to use this noise suppressor your talking about also because I can’t figure this shit out. Smh. Any help would be appreciated. TIA
@@RubeninKona i sold my Katana as it waws anoying me that much. Theres a vid on andertons about katanas and celestion speakers, well worth a watch, basically says katan speakers are hopless when driven
@@RubeninKona Yes, for the noise supressor you do need BTS. Also to get a great metal or other genre I recommend BTS. At least for the noise supressor. Cheers
I avoid most Katana groups due to all the newbs who use their volume control backwards because it makes the amp "punchy" >< and everyone of them claims Juca Nerry taught them to use it that way
@@JucaNeryGuitar Hate to say it but yep, it is kind of crazy. They are convinced they've discovered the big secret to getting the best tone out of a Katana and, being newbs, aren't really open to much of a discussion on specific subtleties of the Katana operation, what they are losing if they plan to use multiple presets live, etc."It makes the amp punchy" is what I hear the most. Telling them that is because the volume is wide open is hopeless, to them the 2 volume knobs are identical in usage.
Juca, THANK YOU!

Amazing content Juca, here in Brazil we don't have such high quality and simplicity as we find in your RUclips channel. Keep going man, we need this !

Wholeheartedly agree! Juca’s video here is awesome! Basic and so effective!
Maybe it's my pickups. I cannt get this tone on .5w with my mim strat. Have to go 25w and dial in some distortion.

Exactly, I’m not using a computer. The sounds are already there imho. Plus I use a good pedalboard

Great video, Juca. Great tones from that guitar too. Totally enjoyed your playing. Nice watch on a Sunday morning with a cup of Joe. Very informative.
Many thanks :)
Maybe that was the most affordable JS version but still it's a JS Ibanez signature guitar. The wonders of the Katana. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe.

omg there was 15 minutes worth of commercials prior to getting to the matter at hand!!! sure hope its worth the wait

If the guitar has single coils the hum is normal. You will need to engage the noise supressor in tones studio. Cheers

Great demo! Could you do one on creating an Allan Holdsworth type solo sound?

What guitar is that
Ibanez JP -140 Joe Satriani Model
So is it worth buying if you don't plan to ever use it with a computer?
Yeah sure.
Love your video man helped al lot🔥👌
Glad to hear that! Cheers :)
I find the katana too piercing on the treble. Sounds harsh in the high frequency to me
Have you used tone studio to cut those frequencies?
Excuse me for suggesting it but you may be better off maxing out the Master and controlling volume from the Volume control. Best regards, Pete.
Hi Pete, thanks, I just know that in terms of tone is the same thing. Best regards
You have an ear for detail. That’s for sure.
My hearing has been blasted - at age 57.
Many thanks :) What happened? Cheers

crank the master and bring down the volume - tone will be fatter.
