Witness the power, dedication, and skill of Olympic athletes as they compete for their chance to shine on the world stage.
Break. Climb. Skate. Ride. The Olympic Qualifier Series is the ultimate stage for Paris. The two-part festival-style series will make its first stop in Shanghai on 16-19 May. The final leap for athletes to secure a spot in an Olympic Games. The results here will help determine which athletes qualify for Paris 2024 in breaking, BMX freestyle, skateboarding, and sport climbing. The Shanghai event will be a celebration of sport and culture, with music, fashion and art combining with the sporting competition to create a festival experience. It's a chance for fans and athletes alike to go watch and try different sports, experience epic moments together and meet a lot new people.
The Olympic Qualifier Series serves as the ultimate qualification stage on the road to Paris 2024 for BMX freestyle, breaking, skateboarding and sport climbing. In total, over 150 quota places for Paris 2024 will be allocated following the Series in accordance with the relevant qualification systems.
The Olympic Qualifier Series employs a points system designed to determine which athletes will secure quota places for Olympic Games Paris 2024. The International Federations are responsible for determining the rules related to the points system of their respective sports.
Athletes in BMX freestyle, sport climbing, and breaking will compete for a maximum of 50 points at each of the events in Shanghai and Budapest, making a maximum possible total of 100 points per athlete. Points from both stops will be compiled into a ranking for each of the sports, that will determine which athletes earn quota places for Paris 2024.
For skateboarding, the points system is divided into three parts: results from prior competitions and the results from the Shanghai and Budapest Olympic Qualifier Series events respectively. One-third of the points are allocated from past competitions, while the remaining two-thirds will be up for grabs in Shanghai and Budapest. The combined points from all competitions will give the final ranking.
There needs to be more slow motion replays for viewers to really appreciate the power, beauty and difficulty of these moves. Amazing!
I like how some of the older competitors like Ayumi (40) and Hongten (39) have such happy spirits. :D
mute button for the commentary please
🤣🤣🤣
I can't even heard the music
Exactly 💯
Less talikng during the battles. It doesn't need much commentary.
As someone who is only starting to learn about breaking, personally, I found the commentary invaluable. It's helping me understand what I'm seeing and how the dance is being judged.
Breaking has a new fan
Whilst you are at it, you should look up Popping too 😉
If I may- the commentary should tell me what the moves are and the history because its absolutely packed with interesting facts which neither commentator bothered us with
Pick up to your commentary game, it's quite disrespectful not even knowing the names
I've watched street dance of china and I know these things
I recommend everyone watch street dance of china for how to commentate and film this sports event.
Watch kasso for how to film skateboarding too while I'm at it.
The energy by the commentary someone give them a snickers
Organisers: Hey, can you make the camera movement even worse than Red Bull has?
Cameramen:
Cmon guys…. it’s the little things that can make us look silly out here. We have our own Bgirl speaking about our culture & here category
@ 54:33 a she must no she’s in 🇨🇳 china Not Budapest. Get it together
1:22:41 that Drunken Fist sequence by Lithe-ing was actually amazing. Awesome mashup of traditional martial arts with bboy.
The commentators had no idea about it 😆
Even though i'm a lee fan, but i'm kinda disagree with that third round judge's
decision in final
Nah Lee took that
The commentators have the Blatant biases
That 4 times headstand is the kind of moment that makes you famous. Amazing. I loved Hiro 10 too. Judging in dance can be awkward at times but I think that guy has the talent to deserve an olympic medal. I hope he is there about. It is also some of the best breakdancing I've ever seen from girls. I liked Ayumi too 👏 Most haters will be taking back their words as soon as they see what these guys can do in París.
I only hope the commentator will talk a bit less during the battles at least.
Before Paris can we make sure not to do face zooms? It was a meme of bad camerawork 10 years ago for RBBC1, but they've since fixed it. I hope it doesn't ruin the main event in Paris too!
Honestly surprised how Lithe-ing hasn't given himself a concussion with the head move... amazing stuff.
How possible Issin lose to lee? Judges come on!
Lee is dope.
@@Uhciphe is dope. But come on, even his short 3rd round somehow won Issin's, that's just ridiculous
@@s1dronebeatsthe judge choices bro
These judges do not care about originality at all lol.
sad but true, originality is always nice but they get the most points from execution and moving with the music
Congratulations To All The Winners. Dopest, My Fav Girl Riko 🔥🔥❤😍

your welcome
How Lee won Issin i don’t understand 🤷🏻♂️
Yes, it's unbelievable 🙃
Syssy took that. She was taking way bigger risks.
I have several questions! Why are men and women separated in this sport? What are the clothing rules? What are the music rules? Are there specific moves that lead to higher scores, and if so, why
men and women have different bodies, it's normal like in every other sport. I would say music is chosen by the DJ's and the points are about technique, originality, dynamism, personality, rhythm, and power.
@@laclase1854 Thank you It is such an interesting and awesome sport!@
1. lithe-ing, 2. hiro-10, 3. lee. thats a fair bro
idiotic camera angles
Honestly.. the first competitor is at a huge disadvantage.
I have only watched a few of these now but the first competitor always lost and goes much shorter than the second.
Also in the last round of the final, the girl in blue went completely nuts and did such great moves exactly to the beat.. how did she get so few of the votes... she was much better..
Same in the quarter finals Japan vs. Netherlands: The Japanese guy did crazy spins and such artistic moves whereas the other dude hardly lifted of the floor and he got all the votes...
I really don't think these subjective battles make sense in the Olympics. Wouldn't watch again, feels quite rigged.
The less you know about a topic, the more you think you know about it.
If Hong 10, Phil Wizard or B Girl Sunny don't win a Gold at the Olympics I'll eat my sock, a Korean or Korean background Breaker has to win GOLD! it's a given
hiro10 tebrikler. aynı cocuklugumda ki fatih abi 95 -2000 arası yazlık cluplarında aynı böyle dans yarışları olurdu .bir çok gece kavga cıkmıştır. ilginç tecrübelerdi.
this guy doesn't need slow-mo cameras, he does it for you! 2:46:00 and anyone knows the first song here? (2:43:52)
Amazing !!
Im a total noob to this sport, but can someone explain why Lee won over Hiro10?
H10 messed up some of his moves..
Dang. The commentators were annoying during the dance battles. There needs to be an option to turn them off please
why do you need to qualify athletes from a competition among different countries if olympics is a worldwide competition itself?
I used to break, I still love breaking to this day. But how TF can they make it an Olympic sport? The judging has always been a point of contention because its just based on style preference. In Boxing you can count punches, in a race you can win, even in skateboarding you can gauge difficulty of trick, but in breakdancing the determining factor is "style" 🤨 Worst Olympic sport EVER
I get what you mean, but there are plenty of olympic sports with judges. Whoever wins is not necessarily THE best in the world here, but dance deserves this recognition. As a freestyle dancer myself I wish there were more styles.
The determining factor isn't "style" the judging criteria is based on execution, originality, power, technicality, vocabulary and musicality. And even at that yes judges will have bias and preference but that's not unique to breaking. I used to compete in Gymnastics in my home country and it was the same. Judges had their own favourites and preferences no matter how well you performed we had to temper our expectations depending upon what judge we got on the day of the event. That's just natural human bias not much can be done about that.
@MimMdance @sonja7halcyon I respect both of your opinions, especially knowing you've both done dance and competed in Gymnastics, but so many times I've watched breakdancing competitions where it seems like someone clearly won based on power moves, style etc etc and in the end they lose. It's so subjective. Idk I'm not onboard with this as an Olympic event 🤣
It's the same for some gymnastics type and for ice skating ! So not really a problem if you think about it
Lee 🥳
Bite-ning copying Lee that last round 🤭🤣 and realizing it midway
BITE-ING
Sorry, is it harder to give points if its a streetdance and not just breakdance? Really just asking. Would have loved to watch all styles 🥰
2:27:27
Unreal
Chinese copy ninja Lithe-ing !! The Olympic warrior !!
R.I.P Bboy :(
I don't understand Lee (4-moves-per-round-bboy) getting over Issin in any scenario, but here's 3-0 okay, what is that? Does skin color really matter that much in this discipline?
I don't think it's race related, it's close but lee showed more confidence and changed directions and tempo a lot more than issin. It just went down to judges preference I think.
Those DJs and their music choices are reeeally on point! The Emcees are annoying
Better cameramen are needed.
@Olympics QR code is a NO NO
I need this without the commentary. PLEASE
Lithe-ing repeated the same move vs Hong 10 in semi finals round 2 (2:04:44) in this video and he still managed to 9-0 Hong 10 in that round. He did that move in round robin vs Gravity (I can't post a link here but you can search for it from the official Olympics website: timestamp on that video: 1:01:46). I was incredibly puzzled when I watched it live. There are still so many bad and questionable calls by these judges but I'm too lazy to point out each and every one of them, they disregard repeats, originality and musicality maybe because they aren't knowledgeable or experienced enough to notice them. This is the Olympics and these judges really need to be replaced, I'm just a fan of breaking and I'm able to point out who's repeating, who's biting, who's dancing to the music and stuff but these judges doesn't seem like they are able to. We need real judges that really know what they are doing to make this a fair competition. I feel so sorry for these powerless bboys and bgirls that are affected by the judging, they are working so hard to qualify, to make their dreams come true. Something definitely needs to be changed!
HONG 10 NEED AN ADIDAS SHOES
Where is bboy Pocket??
okay can someone explain to me how many bboys and bgirls make it? Also, whoever gets first, do they automatically get in the Olympics? i understand the announcers explained it but i was still confused lol
you get points from this event and from 1 event in budapest top 10 of both events combined are qualified so every vote counts
@@boredboyeddie1227 thank you! 🙏🏽
Do athletes get "marked down" for short rounds?

Why not bgirl Yuika, aihhh
This is not an olympic sport - might as well include Morris dancing if that is the case and even then what's next? Tiddlywinks? Darts? Poker?
Ok but where is 671,nicka and india?
You don't have to actually be in the qualifiers to go to the Olympics because each country decides on their own. And for break dance, there are other competitions all year around and results from those can add to the dancers' qualifications to be considered for the Olympics. Nicka is underage so it is very possible she had schooling to do so going all the way to China was too much.
*but please don't take my words for it
Просто несправедливо!!!!😡😡😡😡😡😡
where is shigekix ..?
he is already qualified for olympics

Why no womens lead final?

This is not a sport it's a dancing competition. Should not be in the olympics
This isn’t a sport, especially an olympic one. We might as well have every form of dance at the olympics if this is allowed.
Tell me why it isn't a sport? Breakers train just as hard as any other athlete, have to be disciplined, focused, persevere, and deal with injuries. Gymnastics was involved in the history and development of breaking. It's athleticism to music plus creative improvising on the spot.
