Yeah like the moment she was left as the damsel since the attack on the Leaf incident (when she was bounded by Gaara for the majority of the time), I knew she was going to take a less active role later on.

For example: Asuma is the 3rd Hokage's son, yet we never focus on that; the Nara clan keeps an extensive medical journal but Shikamaru isn't the one to be a medical ninja--instead it's Ino; Sakura never uses her genjutsu potential (and genjutsu outside of sharingan becomes largely ignored as time goes on), and Naruto and Sakura have too much naivete concerning Sasuke when he hasn't really been given enough good moments outside of his pride and rage-filled moments.

About recent episodes: 97 is filler so it got skipped. 98 has enough canon that we got a video on it. 99 is an anime original but is confirmed to be canon. 100 is in the same boat as 98. 101 is complete filler but is almost universally liked and referenced. 102-106 is all filler. I forgot that they tried to tie the filler in with a flashback. 😅

That one guy on the left is right, even though filler episodes are usually skipped, skipping the previous arc leaves you with missing context as to why Sasuke felt outpaced by Naruto in terms of power. So ironically that single filler episode almost becomes mandatory watching, like canon episodes.
Well, here's the thing. Filler episodes are called fillers because they don't appear in the manga. But there are plenty of episodes where the spotlight is focused on the show's side characters. Having some neat development moments that do not appear in the source material. That's the good part of these episodes. Imagine a lowlife Hidden Rain village also talking shit about you being weak. That adds to the pressure and frustration Sasuke is facing.
That's the thing he wasn't,he wanted to prove if he was actually weak like Itachi says,that's why he was so angry,he was like "If I weak at least I have to be stronger than Naruto".
He could have stretch the the story on them being a kid, like he build lot of interesting characters and world, the story tone got real heavy after this, its good its progrssive but it just less fun and happy moment.
Kishimoto became the next Toriyama. Manga lasted way too long (still going now), then it became clownfest. I respect mangakas that knows when to stop. But Kishimoto wanted to milk the naruto universe to the last drop, and he will continue to do so as long as he can.
Up to Five kage summit this manga was at the top and everybody was waiting for the next chapter like crazy. I started to see critics and people getting bored once they started to drag the war arc, I personally stopped watching a few times there.
You can put it this way, Naruto has overall a better ninjutsu repertoire but is still lacking in the Taijutsu department, while Sasuke has impressive Taijutsu, but his ninjustu can be easily countered by Naruto.
