love your cute attitude. i'm 94, live alone, & have some cleaning hacks, too. how to sweep the front porch: don't ! to mop the kitchen : put on your fave dance music. toss 2 wet, soapy towels on the floor, put a bare foot on each towel, and dance.
If you are watching TV try to get up during the he commercials and clean till your show comes back on. You will be surprised how much you get done just using the commercial time to clean
I have done this exact thing, and it works, that is if you still watch regular television, however most of us no longer watch T.V. in the traditional way.
I switched from plastic wrap on my fridge shelves to stiff plastic place mats. The wrap kept getting torn or wadded as everyone shoved and slid stuff in. So much easier to put in and take out. Rinces off easily most of the time. Dishwasher safe if I want to sanitize. Great video. Love your channel
I love 14 of the 15! To be honest I worked in property management for about 15 years and those tablets that go in the tank? They eat away at the workings of the toilet which leads to leaks, costly water bills and having to replace them almost yearly...so...hang one in the bowl is fine, but not in the tank. (Sorry to be a Negative Nellie)
Yep, I was looking for this comment! Our building's handyman (during inspection) asked me if I used them and I was like heck no, pointing to the bowl clip-on block instead. 😂
I’ve had a microwave cover for years. Not only does it prevent splatters, it heats food up faster. It’s easier to clean than the oven itself and I store it right in the microwave.
I actually just wet a piece of paper towel and place it over things like spaghetti, but then I also use that wet paper towel to clean up immediately if it does still splatter.
Eldery tip: get rolling laundry baskets. I have bad knees. Anything I can do to lower excess weight on them, or the chance to fall by not seeing over a full carried basket is definitely a win-win.
I got a rolling laundry basket a few years ago and I didn't mind doing laundry so much. Carrying a regular basket full of clothes really hurt my already hurting back!
Cleaning the shower while you're in it - YES! Get one of those long handled scrubbers so you don't have to bend or reach too much. Lessens the chance of slipping/falling.
My motto, "If you don't make a mess you don't have to clean a mess" This helps me to do things like take a few extra minutes when cooking to rinse the dishes and put everything away. Sometimes I can even take advantage of the seconds in between cooking steps and by the time I'm done cooking the clean up is nearly done.
Great video! I have a friend that self published a decluttering challenge book on amazon so i hot it to support her. The whole easy premise was to get rid of the number of items as os the day of the month. Its easy at the beginning of the month to get rid of 1, 2, 3 items of clothing you never wear or a home decor thingy that youve outgrown. By the middle and the end of the month i was going thru junk drawers and cluttered surface to make my item count 28, 29, 30- but each dried up marker or dead battery or piece of junk mail counted and by the end of the month youve gotten rid of 425 extra things you didnt need and it only takes a couple minutes each night.
This is going to sound a bit silly, but I was really tired one day, my tub was a mess and guests were coming in like an hour. I filled up my grandma style mop bucket with the hottest water to mop. I added my usually amount of multipurpose Mr clean and randomly thought to try mopping the tub 😂 It worked so well. It was shiny and clean looking. I have been mopping my tub and shower each week and I haven’t had to properly clean it yet. It’s been like 2 months lol
This is such a great idea! i put it on my list of things to do! It would cover such a huge area as well compared to hand washing it which would save time and the right mop head would get into the nooks & crannies like grout etc. i will buy a separate mop for the tub & shower walls though because i live with a lot of cats and even after rinsing my mop well after using it on the floor it's still not some thing i would use in my tub
This is a really good idea. I have back problems so having to lean over and scrub the tub is not something I enjoy doing! Mopping is a fantastic idea. 👏
The dollar tree hack videos often show mopping the tub with an extra mop handle and mop head from dollar tree used just for the tub. They also clean kitchen cabinets with a mop - much easier to reach using a mop.
Someone prob already said this but you can't line the new ovens with foil. It will mess up the bottoms...what you can do is put foil on the lower rack under whatever might be spilling.
@@GenRN when my mom had her oven put in the guy told us not to put any foil down there. And I think mine said the same thing on the instructions. I think it sticks to it and you can't get it off ever. I don't remember what else he said about it just not to do it. Sorry! What did you buy to put down there? I would like to cover mine. I cook bacon in there and last time it made a big mess. Ugh. 😑
@@GenRN yesss and I accidentally turned it to 400. I had read if you cook it at 375 there is less spattering and that is so true! I really messed up turning it to 400!!

Instead of aluminium foil, use a silicone baking mat that is dishwasher-safe for the oven. Or one of those multiple use baking sheets. ❤ That reduces your garbage and still keeps your oven clean. 😊
@@catherinedubrovna7756 and our brains! Researchers found aluminum in a lot of Alzheimers sufferers' brains, so I try to use it sparingly with my food.
Thank you!!!! I've been trying to get this into my husband's head. My job takes me out of town for 2 to 14 days at a time. I feel so frustrated to come home and have 2 hrs of cleaning to do. When I'm home everyday I spend 20 minutes a day and the house is always spotless ( husband is retired kids are all grown out on their own)
Encourage your husband to reward himself for the tidying or even during the tidying. I really like listening to a particular podcast, but I made it a rule that I have to start cleaning my bathroom in order to start playing the newest videos.. Bathrooms with four boys in the house is what I dread, but as a stay at home mom it’s part of my responsibilities to clean, but it’s still my husbands responsibility to talk to the boys about use of the bathroom such as improvement on aim. 😣
This is me every weekend. I end up not finishing it all and getting frustrated having to do it all again next weekend. I end up not resting. I gotta get better about tidying!
It's ok be kind to yourself how about a reward like lollies or chocolate after 15 min of cleaning and that's all you'll do, then after 15 min if you want to clean more and if you don't want to you don't need to cos you've done your 15 min.@@TheDragonSeer
I have a tiny apartment and live with 2 cats. I finally got the smaller cordless vacuum and it’s so much lighter than the traditional vacuum. Now it’s much easier to vacuum 2x a week instead of waiting until I am suffocating from cat fur lol
When I saw the cordless vacuum cleaner I was like oh my gosh I need that so bad I also had shoulder surgery so I have to go with Lefty for a bit on and off
@@dawnl.7945Hope your shoulder is healing/has healed well. I’m right handed, had my right shoulder replaced 12/14/2022, now I have a bionic arm (well, feels like it anyway).
@@moonxshaktiI’ve had a lightweight Oreck for 20 years. I’ve tried many other vacuums- cordless, canister, upright, etc. I always come back to my Oreck.
I do a similar process to the 10 minutes. It's 15 minutes cleaning/tidying up after I get home from work. When the time is up I can choose to keep going or stop. I find that I often end up spending 20 to 30 minutes. But giving yourself permission to walk away after 15 just makes the tasks so much more approachable. And 15 minutes isn't long but it's better than nothing. Plus you'd be surprised what you can accomplish in that amount of time.
I got a tip from a coworker, to put vinegar and dish soap in a dish wand and clean it while I'm in the shower. I also wipe it with a magic eraser every time I shower.
Yes! I clean my tile with a brush a little at a time while I'm rinsing my hair. Doesn't have to be done all in one day. Doesn't even have to use any specific soap.
Those magic erase sponges are great for doing dishes, too. They remove coffee and tea stains quickly when you could be scrubbing a stained cup for 10 minutes to get the results the melamine sponge gives in 20 seconds. A big plus is the magic erase sponges don’t develop bad odors from bacteria growth the way conventional dish washing sponges do.
This is so helpful! One kind of pack that I do is putting five or more garbage bags at the bottom of the garbage. Then you don't have to go get a garbage bag when changing the trash, there's already one at the bottom.
@montialarson I learned that years ago, from an older coworker. We worked in child care together. This, and disinfecting mouthed objects during naps, cut our end-of-day clean-up down substantially.
I live with severe chronic pain from autoimmune diseases and back injuries. I use bins to put things into which rooms they go back to--Bedroom, Bedroom Closet, Bathroom, Bathroom Closet, Kitchen, etc. Then I can batch what I take easily & work smarter, not harder. I’m working towards putting things back in their correct spaces (which is something I’m still trying to figure out, but have a great start!) Thanks! Edit: I do the daily bathtub cleaning, too. My mom/grandmother taught me that. And to wash my face first when I first get in the tub, so I won’t be using a dirty washcloth on my face. LOL
I also have chronic pain and 2 autoimmune disorders, so I know how difficult it can be ❤ Your suggestions are very helpful 😊 My Mom used to say to not put off something that takes seconds to do-like changing the toilet paper roll instead of just setting a new one on the counter, rinsing the dishes as you go,etc. I still have clutter, but I am slowly getting bins and cleaning tools that are helpful and donating/gifting things that I don’t use/have multiples of…🤗❤
Ask yourself, "If I went to look for this, where would I look first?".... that's its new home....not my idea, but it sure is helpful when you don't know where to put something!
@@kristiemarsh49 Your mom’s advice is very important. I try to do myself favors when I feel good (I can’t remember so it’s usually a surprise lol) so I will have less work when I don’t.
@@MountainGirl420 Yes, "A place for everything, and everything in it's place" that was my mother's mantra, however, I can never decide what the place will be. Sometimes when I finally find something I need, I think back to where I looked first, and then I decide THAT should be its place.
Once I started using a timer I learnt that tasks didn't take as much time as I thought it would take and that helped me to not procrastinate as much. I will see something that needs to be done and instead of thinking it would take a half hour and wanting to put it off I now just do it because I now know it will actually just take 5 mins 😂
During long phone calls, I like to get my swiffer duster & do all the surfaces. I also fold laundry while watching RUclips or TV. I also completely use my makeup wipes by wiping the doorknobs and light switches and even the chrome on the faucet and makeup messes in the sink after taking off my makeup.
When we had 'unexpected' visitors coming, we'd 'wet-dust' shelves etc using baby wipes. Works remarkably well and they're great at cleaning up cruddy, muddy shoes, also!
Three things that keep things cleaner at my house: to expound on the daily shower wipe down, I have glass shower doors and when my shower is over I squeegee them dry every single time. It takes less than a minute and the doors stay clear and clean. I also run my robot vac pretty much every other day or every 2 days. Don’t give dirt or messes a chance to get ground into your carpet or floors. Lastly, when I leave a room, I look around for things that don’t belong there to take with me to put away elsewhere.
I'm not a fan of heating up plastic, so 2 of those are out for me. So I'll say the dishwasher is one of the greatest inventions (even cleans my slow cooker for me)
@balesshippolova if you buy the cheap flimsy paper plates, you'll have plate covers for a while. I can always toss them when they get food spatter on them and keep my microwave clean, without plastic.
@@balesshippolova The microwave splatter guard is fine because it does not touch the food. It is definitely extremely useful. I do not like the slow cooker liners. It is cooking the plastic with the food.
Love your videos !!! Years ago I heard a church sermon ..... if you have young children living in your home your home is suppose to look like there are young children living there. Honestly, when I heard that I was relieved from a lot of stress !!! One thing I did not get rid of right away was the playpen. Not that my girls ever liked being in the playpen .... but that was my catch all for the toys. One side was left down and when they were done playing all the the toys had to go back in the playpen. If they were not returned .... they disappeared into my big black trash bag. When the time came for 'rewards' they could pick out a toy from the bag. It did not take that long for them to pick up all their toys at the end of the day ....
One side of a playpen left down poses a suffocation hazard in the mesh pocket that is created. I didn't believe it till I saw my own child just naturally roll into the soft mesh pocket and couldn't really get out himself. Luckily we were right there to grab him.
@@jcm4923 Fortunately, that never happened to my girls. They are now wonderful adults-40 // 43. Unfortunately ... accidents do happen. I always have 'wonderful' flashbacks when I watch Ariel's videos. Thank you for bringing out that point.
@@jcm4923 When you are using with one side down, use carabiner clips on the mesh to close up that pocket. They are inexpensive and also can be clipped on the mesh when playpen is folded up.
I realize many young(er) people are hearing all these ideas "just now," but in reality, every one of them except the toilet tank tablets have been around for well over 80 years, some over 120 years. My grandmothers both used many of them from the time they were very young, and if those women were alive today, they would be 145 y.o. (paternal one) and 143 y.o. (Mom's mother).
I can't believe you're not using a microwave cover! You're going to love it. They have these really nice ones with magnets on the top, so you just lift them up and they stick to the roof of your microwave. Then you don't have to take up space somewhere else storing the thing.
The magnets are a game changer. Because I had one of these a couple years ago without the magnets, and then you just have this big dome sitting on your table or on your buffet when not in use. You can store it in the microwave but that's a pain too
It felt great hearing all this, because technically, I kind of naturally knew most of this, but actually hearing it from someone else enabled me to confirm it and maybe actually try to do it.
I'm only 5min into this video and it's already the best thing I've ever seen on RUclips. When I was younger I used to be an OCD Level Clean Freak. Now I'm a year away from 40 and in constant pain. I look at messes and it feels like I'm standing at the foot of a mountain. Most days even the "smallest" ones just seem too insurmountable and I quit before I even start. Thank you for giving me hope and guidance. I look forward to more content like this.
For a clean shower I use only gel soaps which leave less residue than bar soap. I live in a tropical culture with lots of humidity which tends to create moldy situations. So I also squeegee the whole shower and floor and then dry all the surfaces with a microfiber cloth. I also keep a crevice brush if I notice any mold between tiles. This daily routine keeps the shower clean.
I love, love love microfiber. I went to a demo and the moderator said it sanitizes better than Windex and other cleaners. You can wash them in the washer, but don't put the into the dryer.
I remember with my last two kids the exact moment I have that light bulb revelation about their toys!! I had all their toys in wonderful bins with lids but it seemed like they were always DUMPED everywhere!! I found a really large shelf to keep all their bins on then we started a library check out system and it was FANTASTIC!!
Great ideas! Absolutely true about a little daily effort. I wipe down the vanity and swish the toilet every day in my bathroom. My husband and I don't share a bathroom anymore (long story) and I don't clean his bathroom (part of the long story). He ignores his toilet and vanity because he "hates dirt." Six weeks of neglect and he really has dirt to clean. One little suggestion, check to make sure foil on the bottom is ok for your oven. My oven has "DO NOT USE FOIL ON OVEN BOTTOM" embossed on the inside of the door.
Parchment paper is your friend! I use it for so many things. My cookie sheets are the cheap ones that turn black when you wash them. I use parchment paper every time I use them, and I never completely wash them, only wipe off anything that spills, which is rare. My cookie sheets are now 7 years old, and they look brand new because I have done this since the first day I had them.
It’s just me and my 6 year old daughter and when we get home after work, before we can have time to relax, we wash our hands, and set a timer for 10 minutes and run around a clean. We can get so much done and it starts our evening in a tidy home free from the morning chaos. We both have AdHD so things can get crazy in. Short time. We also use bins and it is so helpful but I think I need to get some more. 🤣
Some beneficial hacks: •Train yourself and your family to always take your shoes off at the door. •Be sure to have a floor mat just outside and another one just inside every door of your house. Works wonderfully well to keep the dirt from your living areas. •I've recently come up with a 'one more thing' method that is working great! Where ever you are in the house ask yourself if there is one more thing you can do while you are there. On the potty? Put a fresh roll on the toilet paper dispenser. Walking by a pile of folded laundry? Pick up a stack that goes in whatever room you are going to and put it away while you are there. I keep my hair care stuff in a drawer in the bathroom. Brush on the counter? I sweep it into the drawer as I go by. Walking through a room? Pick up any dirty laundry as you go, and throw it in the laundry bin on your way. Try not to leave a room with your hands empty. Just grab something on the way by and put it away. I know this sounds really simple, but it keeps my over all neatness level in my house much higher! • Absolutely critical: keep a complete supply of cleaning tools and solutions IN EVERY BATHROOM! Then you don't have to schlep stuff. If you are in a bathroom, and something needs a wipe, you have everything you need right there. It also makes it so much easier when you are ready for serious bathroom cleaning. •Pick one day a week to change out all the towels in your kitchen and bathrooms. • And last but not least: I used to get kinda irritated when refilling containers for things like salt, canisters, cleaning supplies, glass jars for storing food, etc. But one day i totally changed my attitude by realizing that 'I am refilling this container with the Bounty that the Lord has supplied'!! I now think of that everytime i refill something and it now gives me a moment to be grateful to Him and truly gives me joy! It helps me realize and be so thankful that I have the provision from Him to refill stuff! •Hope this helps!
I’m a mom of 2 boys (1 and almost 3) and my 3rd son on the way! I have been doing the “one more thing” concept that you’ve mentioned for a few months now and it has COMPLETELY changed my household. I’m less stressed because there is less to do all at once. I stay motivated because I’m just doing small tasks all day. I get more time to enjoy my kids without constantly feeling interrupted. My house looks clean 95% of the time because I CLEAN AS I GO!!
Amen ❤ I told myself.... it's WAY faster than a run to the store - refilling much easier than shopping up & down the aisle looking for it. I buy bulk & refill it, so I can free up time 🎉Thank you Jesus for all the extra time I have to love you my family & others
I can’t live without my microwave splatter guard. I found it at Dollar Tree. I do a lot of these things, but still watched the video, lol. We neat people love to hear other people talk about it! Great tips!
How do you not have 1M subs? I 💖your videos. Thank you, thank you- I feel like a human instead of a complete loser jerk. And, my house is cleaner due to your influence and tips. 💕
You aren’t a loser! You are a sweet soul who simply might not have the knowledge to get the job done. Learning this stuff can be hard and it’s not like you can sign up for a class. So keep watching these and think of them as tutorials. 😉
You are human just like the rest of us. And you are right, it helps to hear that we have a lot in common with our community of sisters! Thank you for bringing that out into the light. Without this open, honest and genuine communication, many of us needlessly berate ourselves and feel like we are not as good, but WE ARE!!!
This is one of the most best "common sense" videos ever! Of course I was 60 before I really started thinking about making it easier on me. I try really hard not to make a mess when I'm doing things so I don't have to worry about it later. It's hard sometimes but mostly it's in the kitchen. I'm getting there. That Bona mop is the best, plus I make my own cleaning solution for it and have plenty of extra mop heads for it that I got on Amazon that are not made by Bona and a lot cheaper!
Having a place for dirty laundry in the kitchen is so helpful!!! I use a little cleaning sponge and a towel for each meal and then toss it in after the dishes are washed from that meal. I absolutely love cooking in a clean kitchen and HATE cooking when it’s a disaster.
My trouble is paper, mail, reciepts etc..I am working on this but its a battle for me and my husband. I will try the 10min timer daily until ive dealt with all the paper and then it should be only a few min. daily thank you for inspiring me and not looking at my clutter zone as a failure also ❤
Go paperless whenever possible - bills, bank statements, pay stubs,, etc.. Most medical offices will send receipts to your email and stores do as well.
Just stumbled across this video and will probably binge your channel tonight after I finish my 30-minute kitchen clean! Thanks for the practical, real-life tips!
Get the splatter cover for the microwave! I never thought we needed one, but the house we rented on vacation had one, and it made SUCH a difference. I ordered one as soon as we got home.
Great ideas! I love the basket/bin idea. I’ve tried the “clear counter” method & it’s just not working for our family in this season with 2 littles. So I’m adding baskets for the random stuff that inevitably lands on our kitchen counter. Also a bin for my kids’ shoes! I have a cordless vac/mop (does both at the same time if you push the lever) and it has been a lifesaver. All our main area floors are laminate tiles. Before I got this I never mopped because after I swept the floor I had no time! Now I can easily pull it out to vac up the kids crumbs and once a week I do a full vacuum & mop.
Those microwave food covers are VERY worthwhile! It stops EVERYTHING splashing all around! I also have a silicone mat to go over the rotating dish thing. Keeps that clean too. I rarely have to give my microwave more than a cursory wipe now, ever!
I love every video you do❤❤. That screaming goat is a hoot 😂. One little hint, I noticed you empty the top rock of your dishwasher first. Sometimes there water in cups, etc, and when you take them out, water travels to the dry dishes on the bottom rack, which you have to manually dry. Keep doing these awesome videos ❤
As soon as the dishwasher cools down,I turn my cups etc. upside down to drain. Then I know the dishwasher is clean and everything is dry by the time I get around to emptying it.
@@janiceyoung5958 Me too, i'm 82 and have 10 grands and 5 greatgrands. If you have a robot vacuum, be sure to clean it regularly. If dog hair and lint fills it up it will stop working.
I've been giving my shower mini cleanings for years. I keep an organic cleaner and sponge in the shower and just do a single wall or area each time I shower. Also, decluttering really has made a huge difference since I starred about a year ago
A battery operated mini desktop vacuum. is very useful around the house - for picking up pet hair, crumbs, and using for hard to reach places under furniture. Very affordable too. I use mine every day.
There are oven liners that are great for catching spills. I replace mine every 2-3 years. I have a family of 7 cook 2 meals per day and run the dishwasher once a day, no need for disposable plates or utensils. When kids are old enough 4/5 they can help load and unload the dishwasher and general chores.
I do have to say I dislike using single use stuff. I like the idea of covering hard to clean surfaces, but maybe cover them with something easy to clean instead of something that will end up in a landfill. We gotta thing about keeping our shared home clean too!
Yes, I thought of that too. I use a cookie sheet on the lower shelf, and it's non stick so burnt pizza cheese comes off easily. I have lived in my home for 10 years, and just bought my second roll of aluminum foil. ( we used to call it "tin foil")
Re cleaning shower: after every use, I debulk the water with quick swipes with squeegee, then I wipe down with high quality microfiber cloths. I also use only water and high quality microfiber for mirrors, sinks/faucets, windows, fridge, microwave, oven, etc. If you read up on the science behind microfiber, you will learn that cleaning chemicals are not needed.
Oof, the sink full of hot soapy water is how I stopped having piles of washing up cluttering my tiny kitchen all the time. But take it a step further than this- don't just dump things in to do later, take a moment as you go to wash stuff. If I'm done with a mixing bowl, it takes less than ten seconds to swish it with the sponge or the brush and whack it on the drying rack. Throw a few things in as you get certain processes going, but if you've got a moment while the wine cooks off, or the onions soften, then wash the few things you've thrown in. If it needs, I refresh the water as I serve dinner, and everybody had BETTER wash their dish when they're done- I've done this since my youngest was small, and he managed to do his own bowl from four years old, because that's not outside of a kids capacity and it teaches them responsibility for their own mess. I do this three times a day, and I rarely have more than a few dishes to do in between, even though I have a family of five big eaters. The bonus is when it comes time to cook a meal, you aren't put off by having to wash up before you can start, too. AND I get the kids to clear the drying rack as part of their jobs, too, so I usually have a blank slate to start me off. Fly Lady's swish and swipe of the toilet everyday also helps me a lot. I put generic toilet cleaner in every night, and hubby flushes and swipes when he gets up. Shower, though.... I get real lazy with that, and end up having to do the whole day long marathon scrub every three months. Really got to get onto the thirty second wipe down every shower....
And she's not kidding folks if you need to laugh you just don't have a sense of humor you're going to laugh with this sweet lady not to mention she is very intelligent and will help you get those day-to-day tasks done in fact I believe that this young lady is why they determined the phrase American starling move over Shirley Temple
I have a lot of these habits in place, but a new one for me was the idea of stashing dust cloths around the house. I’m already big on spot cleaning but never spot clean by dusting for the very reason you mentioned. When I heard your suggestion, I realized that was it! If the dust cloth is handy, I’ll spot dust, as well. Thanks!
I prefer to take out the trash when I'm going out anyway. It's easier when I don't have to make a special trip (keep some hand sanitizer near the bins). Also, make less trash in the first place.
I really enjoyed this no nonsense approach. Great tips & your attitude has given me a sense of hope that I can get thru all of this paperwork. Thank you for breaking it down.❤
I combine the microwave with the dish sponge, as both get dirty. I put the wet sponge into a bowl, douse in vinegar, and microwave on high for 2 minutes. That will kill most bacteria. I rinse the sponge and then use a fresh one to wipe down the inside of the microwave. I have washable sponges that I change every few days (as soon as they start to get smelly). I do the microwave thing before chucking them in the wash.
@@kayo5291 I have read in several places that kitchen sponges are about the dirtiest thing in any given household. So I disinfect them in the microwave, then wash them to actually clean them. The two are not the same. You can technically disinfect a pile of crap by dousing it in, say, bleach, bit that doesn't make it clean. Doing it in the microwave just does two things at once. I do this whenever the sponge starts to smell. Which never takes more than a couple of days.
@@bookworm1956 Oh! Thanks for the reply. I put my kitchen sponges through the dishwasher, but they never smell. I think maybe because I squeeze them out really well and they dry between uses. Figure if it doesn’t smell it’s clean enough for the job!
If you have an electric kettle (rare for Americans - don't know where you are), I heat up extra water for my coffee once a day and disinfect the sponge in a bowl with some boiling water, drop of dish soap and a spray of bleach. Don't wait until they start to smell. If you have a dirty bowl, great way to ease into doing the dishes. Start with a sterilising sponge soak and go from there when the water cools a bit.
@@kayo5291I make sure I squeeze mine out, too! They never smell, just look worn after some time. Then I downgrade it to “stovetop and sink sponge” and use a new one for the dishes.

Very good and practical tips...that work! Thanks for the nod to FlyLady. I've followed her system for about 25 years and it will help anyone stay on track. BTW-The mom years are the most challenging. I was surprised you didn't mention micofibers LOL! Thanks :-)
I’ve tried several spray mops & none worked well & the sprayer broke. I just ordered some shower cleaner that you spray on, leave overnight & then just rinse. Haven’t gotten it yet but……. I need to try to cover my glass refrigerator shelves with plastic wrap. I’m old & need as many tips as I can get! Glad I found you!
Don’t bother trying to “give it back to grandma . She doesn’t want it. Why do you think you ended up with it? The way grandma is gettin’ down to the beat can promise you she won’t mind if you gift it to a thrift store. I know of someone who has one robot vac and she lets hers run at night. It even docks itself when finished! Go ahead and get yourself a cover for food in the microwave. They work great.
I just put our dish soap in a hand soap dispenser with a pump top 😂 You can find whatever shape/colour you like to match your decor if you prefer a more minimal aesthetic. Funny story... I'm in the UK so it blew my mind the first time I saw American-style double sinks with soap dispensers, garbage disposals and moveable spray hoses attached! 🤭 I feel so antiquated 🤣 ... I still won't part with my (corded) Dyson Animal vacuum that's 25 years old though, after hearing about all the battery/charging issues with cordless ones. A bonus feature is that is has a button you push for it to automatically coil up the cable when you're done 😊 (It's the little things).
You have some very good and practical hacks. I was glad when you showed cleaning the microwave just using a bowl of water. Some RUclipsrs show cutting and squeezing 2 or 3 lemons into the bowl of water plus sometimes baking soda and vinegar. Why waste all of that stuff when all it takes is a bowl of water!!?
I've been tidy tango-ing with you most weekends now since you uploaded your first tidy tango video. It's been an absolute game changer. Thank you so much 🥳💕✨
I keep toilet bowl cleaner, bathroom disinfectant, and a rag to wipe down the sink in each bathroom so I don’t have to walk anywhere else to get them (will be getting another toilet brush). Also, inspired by Clutterbug’s tidy tote, I keep the duster, glass cleaner and old sale ads (I swear they shine glass up better than anything else, and it’s recycling!) in a bin that’s easy to carry from room to room for easier weekly cleaning.
I use the plate cover in the microwave. love it.. helps, a lot. I also have many containers designated for items. I live in 325 sq feet, so anything lying about..is VERY noticeable.
Some newer ovens come with removable bottom pans! I have bins for the fridge, even the veggie drawers. Clothes direct to washer, then run when full. Put a small sink basket/drainer on one side of the sink. Squeegee shower every time. Agree that avoiding mess to begin with is helpful. I need more catch-all baskets for each room!
Check your stove's manual before putting in a foil bottom liner. Mine specifically says not to do so. My anti-splatter microwave cover however, is used DAILY!!! Using the microwave more is a great way to decrease dishes as I can mix and cook in a Pyrex measuring cup. It has a handle which makes picking it up safer. Oh, and the microfibre mop. Consider using water rather than solution and then clean the cloth rather than putting solution on the floor. I made the switch and the floor stays cleaner longer. Let me know if it works for you.
I'm confused about the microfiber thing, so it kills bacteria? Without cleaner? I'll have to look this up, that's very interesting. I have a mop like that I didn't know it was special lol
The bathtub shower hack is a game changer. I few minutes every few days keeps it clean. I keep a little round handheld scrub brush in the shower. It holds dawn and vinegar, I do a few square feet at a time when I have a few extra minutes. Mike drop
Love the ideas. I also use the Sonosi and cleaning wipes.. I also have a cordless vacuum cleaner that can disassemble and be used on curtains and on the floors and other areas.
love your cute attitude. i'm 94, live alone, & have some cleaning hacks, too. how to sweep the front porch: don't ! to mop the kitchen : put on your fave dance music. toss 2 wet, soapy towels on the floor, put a bare foot on each towel, and dance.
Rosie, don't slip and fall! You rock!!!!
You go, Girl! ❤
Good video
I travel in my rv full-time and this is how I mop my floor! It's a great workout!
My grandmother was about your age, and right up til the end, she agreed with that kind of notion. Keep on dancin'!

If you are watching TV try to get up during the he commercials and clean till your show comes back on. You will be surprised how much you get done just using the commercial time to clean
I have done this exact thing, and it works, that is if you still watch regular television, however most of us no longer watch T.V. in the traditional way.
Commercials are so annoying. I've been doing this for decades; makes tidying up a breeze, and I get to skip those brainless ads!
Same with exercise, I do a minute or two doing jumping jacks or squats after every bathroom visit.
Do it all the time
I used to do that! 😊
Yep I use those in my fridge that is harder to clean. Works well!
And most of all: More sustainable! ❤
Me too. Much better.
Love it! Thank you!
Good idea!
I've heard that so many times....
Yep, I was looking for this comment! Our building's handyman (during inspection) asked me if I used them and I was like heck no, pointing to the bowl clip-on block instead. 😂
I won't use them because I think about if we were in a survival situation and needed to use the water in the tank😅
Imagine what they're doing to our waterways and the creatures that live there. 🐢🦔🐇🐍🐟🦐🦀🦆🦅🦋🐝
@@kayo5291well, what we’re flushing down is toxic, human waste.
I’ve had a microwave cover for years. Not only does it prevent splatters, it heats food up faster. It’s easier to clean than the oven itself and I store it right in the microwave.
I think most of them are dishwasher safe too! Definitely recommend getting one.
When my kids were home, we had a rule . Use the plate cover, or you get to scrub the microwave
I’ve always used a plate cover. It works great as well. 🙂
I actually just wet a piece of paper towel and place it over things like spaghetti, but then I also use that wet paper towel to clean up immediately if it does still splatter.
👍 storing it in the microwave is key!
I felt so happy to hear someone else admit to cluttering up the flat surfaces in the home. That is a huge weakness of mine. Time for me to "bin up"
Me too!
Me three !
Yup. Learned that one years ago---although I continually go through what's laid down and get rid of unneeded stuff immediately.
Yes! I have one and absolutely love it. I use it for so much more than just laundry. Use mine alot for getting all my groceries in on one trip
Brilliant! They have these? Where can I find them.
@@christineschrader-ds4mw I bought mine at Walmart.
I cracked up at, “ we want more time for things like this.” Then we see a bag of chips dumped out on your belly while you’re watching TV.🤣🤣🤣
Cleaning the shower while you're in it - YES! Get one of those long handled scrubbers so you don't have to bend or reach too much. Lessens the chance of slipping/falling.
My motto, "If you don't make a mess you don't have to clean a mess"
This helps me to do things like take a few extra minutes when cooking to rinse the dishes and put everything away. Sometimes I can even take advantage of the seconds in between cooking steps and by the time I'm done cooking the clean up is nearly done.
I do the same! I try to clean up everything before having dinner, so that we all just have to put our dishes into the dishwasher and done!
Same here.
Also, allowing food in the kitchen or dining room ONLY reduces many messes!
I’ve been doing the same 🎉❤
This is what I started telling the kids.
Thank you!
@@Perky_Panda Awesome 👍
@@trish5805 Awesome! I hope it helps 😊 It’s definitely saving my back
This is a really good idea.
Oh my god I love you for this tip I hate cleaning the bathroom brilliant idea 😂
Someone prob already said this but you can't line the new ovens with foil. It will mess up the bottoms...what you can do is put foil on the lower rack under whatever might be spilling.
I have heard this before so I bought a specially designed liner, but can you explain this to me?
@@GenRN when my mom had her oven put in the guy told us not to put any foil down there. And I think mine said the same thing on the instructions. I think it sticks to it and you can't get it off ever. I don't remember what else he said about it just not to do it. Sorry! What did you buy to put down there? I would like to cover mine. I cook bacon in there and last time it made a big mess. Ugh. 😑
@@dianasimplifies it is some liner specifically designed for bottom of the oven. They need to design bacon to not splatter. 😂
@@GenRN yesss and I accidentally turned it to 400. I had read if you cook it at 375 there is less spattering and that is so true! I really messed up turning it to 400!!
@@dianasimplifies someone visiting did that at my house. I had to literally disassemble the fan at the back of the oven to clean it. I’ve never seen such a mess so I do feel you. I’m so scarred by it that I’ve never bought bacon that wasn’t pre-cooked since. 😂
Instead of aluminium foil, use a silicone baking mat that is dishwasher-safe for the oven. Or one of those multiple use baking sheets. ❤ That reduces your garbage and still keeps your oven clean. 😊
I agree! I've used aluminum foil and itvended up being practically welded to the bottom of the oven. It was awful. Love silicone mats.
Thank you for this. We need to think about the environment.
@@catherinedubrovna7756 and our brains! Researchers found aluminum in a lot of Alzheimers sufferers' brains, so I try to use it sparingly with my food.
10 minutes a day is 5 hours a month of tidying. It's easier to do 10 minutes rather than a marathon tidy when you are at your wits end.
Or right before you have guests over LOL.
It's ok be kind to yourself how about a reward like lollies or chocolate after 15 min of cleaning and that's all you'll do, then after 15 min if you want to clean more and if you don't want to you don't need to cos you've done your 15 min.@@TheDragonSeer
As someone without a dishwasher, filling the sink before cooking is a game changer 🎉 Ps. Love the goat 🐐
Yeah that's one of my favourite hacks for myself
That GOAT!!! ❤
😂
I have a tiny apartment and live with 2 cats. I finally got the smaller cordless vacuum and it’s so much lighter than the traditional vacuum. Now it’s much easier to vacuum 2x a week instead of waiting until I am suffocating from cat fur lol
When I saw the cordless vacuum cleaner I was like oh my gosh I need that so bad I also had shoulder surgery so I have to go with Lefty for a bit on and off
I love my 3 lb oreck with shoulder strap or handle and super long cord so much bc it makes whipping it out and cleaning so easy
Cordless vacuum for the win! Such a game changer.
Just don't slip!!
Yes! I clean my tile with a brush a little at a time while I'm rinsing my hair. Doesn't have to be done all in one day. Doesn't even have to use any specific soap.
Squigee every time we shower. No effort, perfect results
But be CAREFUL! It can get very slippery. Keep one hand on the grab bar! That saved me from a bad fall.
This is so helpful! One kind of pack that I do is putting five or more garbage bags at the bottom of the garbage. Then you don't have to go get a garbage bag when changing the trash, there's already one at the bottom.
Store your garbage bags under the kitchen sink.
Unless I have a giant box from a warehouse store, I keep the entire roll of bags in the trash can.
LOL
I also have chronic pain and 2 autoimmune disorders, so I know how difficult it can be ❤ Your suggestions are very helpful 😊
My Mom used to say to not put off something that takes seconds to do-like changing the toilet paper roll instead of just setting a new one on the counter, rinsing the dishes as you go,etc.
@@deejarrell9112 Yes, there are some things I’m still trying to give a permanent location lol
Indeed🎉😊🎉
This helped me so much as well! Sometimes i keep timing myself anyway as starting the timer makes it a game XD
The microwave cover and boiling water are my 2 long time microwave cleaning habits!! Both are amazing!!
Parchment paper, slow cooker liners, and microwave splatter guards are 3 of the greatest inventions ever!
Why buy a splatter guard when you have perfectly good plates in your cupboard? Just cover it with one of those.
It is wasteful
Amen
Brilliant!
This video is so relatable!!! It made me feel so much better to know that I'm one of many who feel overwhelmed with cleaning.
Ooo the one about filling your sink before cooking! Genius
Get out! I didn't know this
Where do you buy them?
The magnets are a game changer. Because I had one of these a couple years ago without the magnets, and then you just have this big dome sitting on your table or on your buffet when not in use. You can store it in the microwave but that's a pain too
@@kathygann7632I'm sure Amazon has a good selection :)
I literally laughed out loud when you threw the cleaning products at the cats bahaha you’ve got a new subscribers for that hilarious little part
Yes! I do 15 minutes of cleaning a day. Amazing what you can get done in 15 minutes.
As a fellow mom who is also awkward, I really appreciate your videos. They are practical and real.

I love seeing how curious the cats are in what you're doing. Makes me miss my nosey kitties.
Love this! Totally agree with the basket concept, it fools your brain into seeing all those bits and bobs as just one item, thus calming the brain

Some beneficial hacks:
•Train yourself and your family to always take your shoes off at the door.
But one day i totally changed my attitude by realizing that
'I am refilling this container with the Bounty that the Lord has supplied'!!
I now think of that everytime i refill something and it now gives me a moment to be grateful to Him and truly gives me joy! It helps me realize and be so thankful that I have the provision from Him to refill stuff!
•Hope this helps!

Incredibly genuine and funny lady.
Love it when you said -give that back to your grandma !!!!! 😅❤
But...I'm the Grandma😊.
@janiceyoung5958 me too!
5:35 buy one that can be folded and cleaned in a bucket. Good old mop goes easily in a bucket, not all the big variants can.
You have a great way of educating while entertaining. Thank you that awkward mom!
And then where do you put them to dry?
Thank you!
I always get distracted to another task and forget the last one. I just didcovered ypu and love you.
And she's not kidding folks if you need to laugh you just don't have a sense of humor you're going to laugh with this sweet lady not to mention she is very intelligent and will help you get those day-to-day tasks done in fact I believe that this young lady is why they determined the phrase American starling move over Shirley Temple
Thanks Lillie ❤️
I have a lot of these habits in place, but a new one for me was the idea of stashing dust cloths around the house. I’m already big on spot cleaning but never spot clean by dusting for the very reason you mentioned. When I heard your suggestion, I realized that was it! If the dust cloth is handy, I’ll spot dust, as well. Thanks!
Thank you!! For an actual lazy cleaning habit list. I have watched so many videos of these kinds and they’re not lazy. They sound very hard 😅!!
Definitely recommend the anti-splatter lid for food
Shower hack for daily cleaning: Do a quick scrub with a dish wand filled with Dawn and vinegar before getting out of the shower. Trust me.
This is the only cleaning video that works for my ADHD and my “I’d rather do 100 other things besides clean” mindset. 👍 p.s you are hilarious! 😂
Totally agree.
I have to ask why you use a fresh sponge afterward, instead of the one you just took out of the microwave.
Give that back to your grandma 👵😂.
My hacks…definitely the microwave cover, squeegee the shower after every use, trash cans everywhere, use Alexa for reminders.
Yes! Trash can in every room!!!!!!
I squeegee too,it's a game changer
@@lesjay6968 my husband complains. I explain to him that we do it because we are lazy. A little work now equals a lot less work later. 😂
@@GenRNmine just says “it’s clean” no matter how bad it gets 🫠
encouraging, and entertaining, thank you for not judging
Love your attitude! Timing yourself during cleaning projects makes it fun! 8:53
I love your channel and extra extra appreciate this being split into chapters as I keep getting distracted and having to start a segment over 😂
Love the kitchen soap dispenser... I'll have to look for one. Always great to see you Ariel! 🥰
Thanks K :) also no need to look, here it is: amzn.to/3znZuq1
@@ThatAwkwardMom Awesome! You're always so helpful. Love you! 🌹❤️😘
🤭 I feel so antiquated 🤣
... I still won't part with my (corded) Dyson Animal vacuum that's 25 years old though, after hearing about all the battery/charging issues with cordless ones. A bonus feature is that is has a button you push for it to automatically coil up the cable when you're done 😊 (It's the little things).
@@HannahRainbow88 Wonderful story and idea, thank you so much for sharing! ❤️
I found one at home goods, and I honestly love it!!
Thirty minute speed clean was my favorite.
HI, Great video. Nice to see your smiling face again. Thanks for the tips and you always make me smile. Have a very Blessed day, Love, Hilah
Nice to see a shout-out to Flylady!
It's always so much fun to watch your videos‼️I'm not that "Comment Person", but I just wanted to say "Thank you❣️"
Thank you for commenting and thank you for being here ❤️
Your suggestions are great I will try them.
I have a saying don't put it down put it way. It was hard at first doing this try it, it really works.
This was actually so helpful. I am ordering a mop-spray and a soap dispenser right now! ❤
First time watching, enjoyed your ideas and your wit😀
Welcome!! :)
