Really Great, that you check the Implementations of fg and FSR ;.) it's really baffly that seemingly so much devs just fail to implement that tech. It really should embarras them that a mod just works.
Remembering the situation with AI when nvidia severely penalized those who were even interested in competitor's products, not excluding that FSR implementation curves are the developers' merit, as I used FSR3 mod and know how well this technology can work.
The 'tide series isn't really well-known for it's quality of AA or graphics. It's usually more about gameplay and how immersive the world is (as well as the gore system Fatshark uses) To be fair though, I do play at 4k and so I might be a bit spoiled when it comes to image quality. Does any of this excuse Obesefish's laziness? No, not by any means. But while they may take a while to get things done, it does happen if it is brought to their attention (eventually)
XeSS is v 1.3.0 in this version of Darktide. They just did not update the settings menu to expose all the correct quality levels. You can see the DLL version in the file properties.
I see that only games from Sony implement FSR properly, the rest apparently screw it up and either implement it incorrectly or insert an old version from Meliozoa into the game, for example in Jedi Survivor FSR version 2.0, also CDPR failed to implement FSR correctly and did not update FSR properly, leaving the outdated FSR and adding only frame generation, although the new FSR 3.1 has been released for a long time, and I don’t understand what the problem is, because as far as I know, DLSS is more difficult to implement in the game than the same FSR, but DLSS is always update to the new version and forget about FSR.
I see way too many games only involving FSR2... AMD needs to call out to these developers and make them Implement their latest upscaler as this is crucial for their GPUs to work properly.

Developers in cahoots with Nvidia to sabotage AMD man. Pretty sure they are already drowning inside Nvidia's pockets. If after 1 year we still don't get FSR 3.1 on Cyberpunk, then that proves it.
I personally prefer the visual fidelity of DLSS 🥰👍💪over FSR 3.1. Saying that, FSR 3.1 is a vg alternative and I’d rather have 3.1 vs 2.0 in games only featuring FSR 😇👍. Have the choice of all XeSS, DLSS and FSR is a great 5hing as different upscalers offer either better fps boost, better image quality, or better images without distortion or fizziness in games. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many saw upscalers as a saviour to gamers trying to either obtain a new GPU or obtain a new GPU at a fair price! Saying that these days I feel many devs are requiring upscalers just to avoid doing proper game optimisations to run decently!
As a Darktide player (too much so lol) I had issues with the game just being wrong until I noticed FSR 3.1 was forced on by default, Turning it off made the game playable again. Every one I have played a game with has had issues on the first round untill they turn frame gen off which requires a restart of the game so is not possible untill the 20-50 minute game is over unless they leave. Its a plague and clearly the work of the nurgle worshipers and a direct assualt on the God Emperor himself. On the upside Darktide has issues with upscaling and stuff anyway as a 3070 owner I cannot use DLSS as it hard crashes my system (no other game does this, I have 20 years experience as an overclocker and I'm stumped it does not make sense but it is a thing), others report increased instability with DLSS too but no official response or even basic tips to diagnose and the devs won't even look at my crash reports anymore because I have a mod that shows a numerical ammo count for my team mates (yeah clearly the issue there guys). FSR not frame gen looks nasty (last update maybe helped I haven't bothered to check tbh) and can make some rough smearing on objects in motion which is everything in this game so you'd be better off just turning the monitor off and playing by ear as it were. I would just recomend playing in native with no upscaler or frame gen as the game looks good and mostly runs well then but is a mess once you start using any of these fake graphics options. Also if you have RT capability in the range of 3070 leave that off go in to the ini file and turn that poop off in there too as the menu still usually forces some GI using RT on and it will tank your FPS in some areas. My 1400 hours in Darktide have seeled the deal on me hating upscalers and poor RT performance these techs ruin games and now the frame gen being forced on has shown me that its clearly a crutch and BS tech that needs to die its woefully bad. People are leaving games because they are and I quote 'dropping frames' or its laggy and stuttery mess when the game can/should run just fine on sensible settings. Great game highly recomend but play native with no RT unless you own a mega gpu
@@AncientGameplays Just poor performance in some games. I noticed it in Riven, super stuttering. I’ve been using May’s driver which was the last known good one. Every month I’d do a clean install and every month was the same poor performance. I’m wondering if it had to do with AFMF and Radeon Chill. I use Radeon Chill to cap things at 60fps. I have a 4K TV which does Freesync but my PC is connected to my home theater which is HDMI 2.0. So I only do 4K 60fps. But I turned settings off and on and kept getting poor performance so I’ve been reverting back to May. Finally, this driver fixed whatever issue as far as I can tell.
@@AncientGameplays I spoke too soon. Fallout 4 and Jedi Survivor are perfect examples. Fallout 4 is giving me 100% Micro Stutter. Jedi Survivor isn't as smooth as it was. I'm reverting to May's driver yet again.
Why no new amd drivers this month? Wonder what they are working on. :) AMD releasing fsr 4 and 8900xtx soon ahaha!!! New driver for cyberpunk too hopefully!
I don't want to disappoint you, but AMD intends to focus on mid range GPU next gen as they want to gain edge in GPU market as whole (rn it's vastly Nvidia dominated), so you probably won't see another flagshop AMD card until 2026+. CP2077 is also vastly Nvidia favouring game, I doubt CDPR cares about anything else than Nvidia and DLSS, unless AMD creates a good contract with them, money talks as always. FSR 4 is happening 100% and expectedly soon.
Firstly Congrats for the new place my man. I like AMD nothing cons (my last 4 boards was AMD) but because a friend deal I was “forced” to get a 4070 SUPER and since then everything is a bliss, I think it’s time to recognize, AMD was swallowed by Nvidia and I really feel sorry for that.
seems like the devs aren't validating it correctly. they just look at the average FPS number and ship it, which is the absolute worse way to do things. either their monitors can't go beyond 60 FPS or they do all their testing with controllers, which is much slower, making any image quality and smoothness testing null and void. every time i see behind-the-scenes type content, people are testing their own games with a controller. they MUST use keyboard and mouse to get proper results! wiggle the mouse fast enough to break something and then fix it!
I honestly dont know what's the deal with AMD drivers or Darktide itself, but for me the FSR 3.1 patch + AMD Framegen works amazing on 6700 XT, i got a solid 144 FPS running without any troubles and everything is smooth and there's no crashes/etc. I do run an old ass version of AMD Drivers as 24.3.1. p.s. Before that i was struggling to maintain even a 75-90 FPS. Also, if anyone interested, you can install and run XeSS 1.3.1+ manually. There's a file on nexusmods that works perfectly.
Looking forward to your up coming 9800X3D just sucks we gotta wait forever for B850 boards... edit: and still confused on any every game except Black Myth Wukong requires a restart when turning on and off Frame Gen
I can only hope for FSR4, as perform by PSSR in PS4 Pro those shimmering are rendered efficient using AI upscaling... so I'm sure those issue can be addressed by FSR4...
8:05 We have to keep in mind that anti aliasing was disabled here (seen it in the settings seconds before), which produced these 'jagged edges' which are not the same as shimmering. Btw, where exactly did you enable this lossless scaling?
Lossless scaling is a software on steam. Also, when you use upscaling or native aa, being ot xess, fsr or dlss, the aa option gets usually didabled and these techs use temporal AA to work
Also very disappointed with UW support. Instead of extending the rendered space, they just cut the middle down to UW aspect ratio and stretched it out like a cheap third party upscaler app. This developer does a terrible job at rendering, graphics tech implementation and hardware support. This is what Mr AMD Jesus is experiencing.
Yo ! Personnally on Darktide, I prefer to use Xess because the rendering is better than FSR2.0 in my opinion. After that, I block at 60fps so no need to put Frame Generation but yes, it's not perfect. Hope you the best !
It's a shame, but good implementations of 3.1 in sony ports clearly shows that technology is great. Both upscaler and frame generator. If developers can't properly implement it, it's on them
@@AncientGameplaysDouble edged sword. When they did work with devs with Callisto Protocol, Starfield and Jedi Survivor, what they got instead is endless yapping about no DLSS at launch. FSR 3.1 FG shouldn't be too hard to implement if you RTFM. AMD has a ton of documentation to help devs implement it. Modders can do it and it works. Sony devs can do it and it works. Darktide devs either don't care much about AMD or actually are just bad coders in general. If the game engine the FG sits on top of is poorly coded, that might make the FG bad.
RTFM.. you know it's usually men writing code right? My wife would RTFM and do it right but men will never. We already know what the manual says.. we wrote it! Lol
Ancient gameplays, btw the recent update from Starfield broke the games frame gen. When its enabled it looks like vsync is bugged and not working with frame gen on.
Ora boas Fábio tudo bem ? Pelo que li também houve algumas alterações e melhorias no counter strike 2 com afmf2 , já testas te? Se sim recomendas ? Obrigado pelos excelentes vídeos abraço
It's not only the FG that is broken in this game, 23.11.1 was the last driver that ran smoothly. You only show the intro section but later during actual missions it's much worse. A 7900XT will drop from 144 fps to 50 during intense fights even with a 7800X3D. I don't care much for this game but if a really good game comes out and it is neglected by both AMD/devs I'm going back to Nvidia, I don't care that it's worse value I'm just tired of troubleshooting Radeon.
Yeah I found this super ridiculous. A HUGE update with FSR 3.1 and FSR 3.1+FG but FSR 3.1+FG caused CTD if you enable it, even if you have AMD cards. After a hotfix, I managed to enable it and boys it stutters like CRAZY. It's just blasphemous at that point. So I still use the game's FSR 3.1 (no FG) and AMD Andrenaline's FG 2 (but it sometimes doesn't work)
I have a question about FSR in Black Myth Wukong's Benchmark tool. I want to use FSR on my 7900xtx paired with a 5800X3D but in Adrenaline Edition it says missing API, yet in the benchmark tool the FSR option is available. My framerate at 1440p is roughly 80-90fps average with my GPU scoring low 5th percentile. I obviously want to maximise my performance here without sacrificing quality. Would you think that FSR is broken with these numbers, or is BMW really that demanding on a system?
Hey everyone! If some of you still struggling with darkride performance - try to downgrade to 23.11.1 driver. Its like a completely different smooth game now. And im not talking about microfreezes or stutters, just massive dips to 50-60fps are GONE. Worked for me and my friend on 6800xt
How are your frame times so smooth? I have a 7900xtx + 7800x3d and my frame times are a mess in Dark tide. Constant micro stutters when gibbing an enemy or when panning the camera or when someone appears in my view.
I just got the game and activate the rt reflections to high, just played the first mission. I don't see the reflections, even restarted the game, if there's a change is minimal or I'm doing something wrong. Fps did go from 100 to 55 though.
There's no way " most people" use Performance mode for 4K, where is he data for that? Gamers that don't have a high-end GPU rarely bother having a 4K monitor at all. And if you have a good GPU, you never need that much upscaling. If your HW can only render AAA games at 1080p then upscale to a 1440p panel at best.
Man, sometimes it seems you're new to the gaming world. 4k is still heavy and 4k 120+Hz monitors are the norm nowadays. Dlss and fsr perf at 4K look decently good, so people use those to push high fps
@@AncientGameplays You can't name any research/stats/survey showing which upscaling level people use the most, this is pure guesswork that should not be stated as fact. The only hard data we have is the Steam survey (I know I know) where only 4% of all gamers have 4K or higher res. Games who care about very high refresh stick with lower res, even 1440p is only recently overtaking 1080p. Other GPU/game reviewers consistently recommend against heavy upscaling, it looks awful even with DLSS in any panel with normal dpi. Your 42" is even larger / lower-dpi than usual for 4K, mine is 32", I also use prescription glasses, and I would only use 4K/Performance for extreme cases like path-traced games that need it to make even 60fps. BTW, my 4K monitor does 144Hz but I don't have to max that out. I try to get >120fps in all games but combined Upscaling+FG is a much better way to reach that for heavy games. If no FG available, I will certainly prefer locked 4K/Q 60fps to 4K/P 120fps. In part because I don't play any competitive multiplayers or other games that really need ultra-low latency... but if I did I wouldn't have a 4K panel. If a game really needs Perf mode to play decently, like it now happens often in consoles, it is typically destroyed by reviewers. Configuring virtually any game for 4K 240Hz at the cost of Perf-mode upscaling is a bizarre life choice, like putting anchovies on pizza or drinking beer warm, "to each his own" but there's limits ;)
@@AncientGameplays Heh I think I get your perspective. But this is an enthusiast's channel (= more people on 4K); I guess more European public (= expensive GPUs); and Radeon focus (we often need more upscaling with Ray Tracing). I would be curious to see a poll of your users vs. other channels like HUB, GN, IGN, etc. about popular upscaling levels.
mh i wonder what sense it makes that apparently many use the performance modes of the upscaler at UHD resolution (so 2160p DLSS performance as an example), where is the point of such a monitor if you don't use at least quality? I mean the picture sharpness is lost, so i can save myself the 4K monitor and should rather rely on sufficiently strong hardware or leave it alone (just my opinion).

Or i,m having bottleneck issues?
DD2 has major cpu bottleneck issues, no matter what CPU you are running. Recent patches have helped a bit, but it's still far from ideal. That said, if you are getting CONSISTENT 30-40fps instead of it being momentary stutter drops, that indicates an issue with your rig in partiuclar, not the game overall, as I got, prior to the recent improvement patches, 60fps with stutters down to 40s on the a 5800x and 3070 combo.

and being open source is kind of bad thing for FSR, since there's no FOMO like with DLSS, so FSR is good to have but people will mostly care about DLSS, and since devs don't care that much about FSR then implementations are mediocre, so in the end FSR will be implemented with least effort possible so that effort can go into DLSS implementation

Considering how badly the game now performs after the devs decided that just removing Full Screen Exclusive mode was a good idea - I have no doubt that Fatsharks dev team are incompetent.
With fatshark everything is always a mess never forget it (I speak from experience having spent 6000 hours on vermintide 2 and 1000h on darktide)

Really Great, that you check the Implementations of fg and FSR ;.) it's really baffly that seemingly so much devs just fail to implement that tech. It really should embarras them that a mod just works.
I know right?
Remembering the situation with AI when nvidia severely penalized those who were even interested in competitor's products, not excluding that FSR implementation curves are the developers' merit, as I used FSR3 mod and know how well this technology can work.

Thank you Hocine, take care!
The 'tide series isn't really well-known for it's quality of AA or graphics. It's usually more about gameplay and how immersive the world is (as well as the gore system Fatshark uses)
To be fair though, I do play at 4k and so I might be a bit spoiled when it comes to image quality.
AMD needs to call out to these developers and make them Implement their latest upscaler as this is crucial for their GPUs to work properly.
glad to see your doing well from that wildfire ancient.

Nice Video. Hopefully fatshark works out the kinks. As a Darktide Junky, you're never moving slow enough in game where the shimmering is going to be noticed. :) I'll try the driver version to see how that changes anything. "For the Master of Mankind!!!!!!"
Developers in cahoots with Nvidia to sabotage AMD man. Pretty sure they are already drowning inside Nvidia's pockets. If after 1 year we still don't get FSR 3.1 on Cyberpunk, then that proves it.
*Congratz on the new studio*
Thank you! Still so much left to do haha
I love afmf 2 such a good improvement no shimmering issue
Dlss is still better of course, but not perfect haha
upscaling techniques should be additive, it should not be a requirement to run a game...he it simply means we have a bad pc port
maybe AFMF is a way to avoid those bad implementations, it will be fun if AFMF 3 or something gets better frame gen than 90% of implementations of FSR
True
My issue is fixed with 24.9.1, no more stuttering!!! Yay!
Great! What was the issue in particular?

Issues I guess...
FSR 4 as of right now is only for handheld. To extend battery life.. no mention of it being on RDNA 4.
It would be nice to get rx8000 series this month... but its just a dream propably : (

Amd needs to use their strong points, that's all. People were saying the same about intel and amd years ago
i had an feeling why my gameplay on darktide was laggy as hell lucky im not the only one
I always knew that this game is soo bad optimized
seems like the devs aren't validating it correctly. they just look at the average FPS number and ship it, which is the absolute worse way to do things. either their monitors can't go beyond 60 FPS or they do all their testing with controllers, which is much slower, making any image quality and smoothness testing null and void. every time i see behind-the-scenes type content, people are testing their own games with a controller. they MUST use keyboard and mouse to get proper results! wiggle the mouse fast enough to break something and then fix it!
Good video coverage. I love me some Darktide!
@@Shibby thanks 💪

I honestly dont know what's the deal with AMD drivers or Darktide itself, but for me the FSR 3.1 patch + AMD Framegen works amazing on 6700 XT, i got a solid 144 FPS running without any troubles and everything is smooth and there's no crashes/etc. I do run an old ass version of AMD Drivers as 24.3.1.
p.s. Before that i was struggling to maintain even a 75-90 FPS. Also, if anyone interested, you can install and run XeSS 1.3.1+ manually. There's a file on nexusmods that works perfectly.

8:05 We have to keep in mind that anti aliasing was disabled here (seen it in the settings seconds before), which produced these 'jagged edges' which are not the same as shimmering.
Btw, where exactly did you enable this lossless scaling?
Lossless scaling is a software on steam. Also, when you use upscaling or native aa, being ot xess, fsr or dlss, the aa option gets usually didabled and these techs use temporal AA to work
@@AncientGameplays Thanks, I completely forgot about that Steam program.
so in shory, no reactive masks, bad FSR implementation, bad Frame Gen implementatiion, gotcha, my man
Also very disappointed with UW support.
Now it's fsr 3.1
It's a shame, but good implementations of 3.1 in sony ports clearly shows that technology is great. Both upscaler and frame generator. If developers can't properly implement it, it's on them
True, but amd should offer them more help like nvidia does maybe...

Hello, which amd driver do you recommend in which old or new games that have dx11 can be played with very little frame drop and stuter ?
Try the 24.9.1
@@AncientGameplays Is the reason for stuttering not optimal game or shader catch?
I can assure you they are infact sleeping, because after every other hotfix my game drops to like 10 fps on my 5700xt
I don't play the game so I don't know
Yeah I found this super ridiculous. A HUGE update with FSR 3.1 and FSR 3.1+FG but FSR 3.1+FG caused CTD if you enable it, even if you have AMD cards.
After a hotfix, I managed to enable it and boys it stutters like CRAZY. It's just blasphemous at that point.
So I still use the game's FSR 3.1 (no FG) and AMD Andrenaline's FG 2 (but it sometimes doesn't work)
Try to use lossless scaling
Use lossless scaling from 3200x1800p to 3840x2160p 4k rt high rx 7900xt frame gen x3 times, from 30 to 90 fps... Feels way better than the in game
Would you think that FSR is broken with these numbers, or is BMW really that demanding on a system?
you should see how wildcard implemented FG in Ark ascended....

@AncientGameplays Are those open-source? I want only open-source drivers. It's good to know that there are modded drivers in the community.
This is not guesswork, this is experience from ready thousands of comments a month :)
@@AncientGameplays Heh I think I get your perspective. But this is an enthusiast's channel (= more people on 4K); I guess more European public (= expensive GPUs); and Radeon focus (we often need more upscaling with Ray Tracing). I would be curious to see a poll of your users vs. other channels like HUB, GN, IGN, etc. about popular upscaling levels.
mh i wonder what sense it makes that apparently many use the performance modes of the upscaler at UHD resolution
(so 2160p DLSS performance as an example), where is the point of such a monitor if you don't use at least quality? I mean the picture
sharpness is lost, so i can save myself the 4K monitor and should rather rely on sufficiently strong hardware or leave it alone (just my opinion).
Darktide and Cyberpunk are sponsored by Nvidia, so they are not interested in good working Amd altrnatives.
Bro its not related to your current video, but still if can clear my doubt if possible, i have 7900xtx and r7 5800x cpu, i,m getting 30-40 fps in city of venworth (Dragon's dogma 2), i have just started playing this game, is this the normal fps for the city location? Or i,m having bottleneck issues?
DD2 has major cpu bottleneck issues, no matter what CPU you are running. Recent patches have helped a bit, but it's still far from ideal. That said, if you are getting CONSISTENT 30-40fps instead of it being momentary stutter drops, that indicates an issue with your rig in partiuclar, not the game overall, as I got, prior to the recent improvement patches, 60fps with stutters down to 40s on the a 5800x and 3070 combo.
