Rest in Peace, Shonner. Your ironic humor and insights on RPGs will be deeply missed. Thank you for everything, from a brazilian friend that used to listen to your videos while working for the last two, three years.
@@rafaelmorena2151 Someone in a another post told me the news too. I am so saddened. He seemed totally fine just a couple of days before during a Skyrim live stream. Rest in peace. You will be missed my friend.
The rule book for the Conan board game (by this guy) was unreadable and had to have a costly second edition sent out to all the backers. Even the example on page 11 are form the Conan board game! As is the artwork. 57:00 I'm guessing the dice will be upgraded as you level up and become more more 'EPIC!', while your stats might not change so much. 1:14:45 'Conan should not be about class' unfortune phrasing.
I like to think of rules lite as a lightweight core mechanic (2d6+/-modifiers for 8+) that handles 99% of the situations you're going to run into vs crunchy which feels more like a mini-game for each situation (to use some of the ways you've put it). I don't want to have to have to remember 100 extenuating circumstances, but I would like to see how you can/should apply the One And Only One Core Mechanic™ in 100 situations. Call them rules or whatever, but it's really one principle vs 100 techniques. I'll take principle over technique any day. Think about Starforged. There are SO MANY different moves that you have to constantly go back and look up what each one does if you get a miss / weak hit / strong hit. No thanks. I'd rather have FATE where you have 4 "moves" that fit 99% of situations. You're trying to overcome something, make an advantage, defend yourself, or attack someone/something. And the same roll mechanic for each of those 4 moves. Simple.
Just found this channel. RIP brother, I'll watch the backlog, and I hope your in a better place.
May the Lord God remember you in his kingdom Shawn, you will be missed.

Unified skills system for the win.
Guess that's it then. Sad.
4D RPG Crusade will keep his legacy alive. We shall keep on exampling the way Shonner wanted us to play.
Traveller sucks.
