i'm looking to put snowblower tires on the back of my rascal to give it a little wider stance and more off road capabilities. i'm going to try using the front forks and wheel from an 8" kids bicycle in the front fork head tube to give it a bigger front wheel if it is close enough to make it work. you might try something like that if you haven't upgraded by now.
haha! BRAVO . . . I'd estimate that is approaching 8mph . . . that size is usually 4mph out of the box I believe? Definitely looks faster than 4mph now :))
My friend modified one of these for me to garden with but… he chopped it down so I sit on the floor, I can get close enough to the ground to garden now. I wore two motors out and now have to figure out how to replace the motor and shorten the front control arm. Any chance you could show this process in a video?
not to rain on your parade but I took you speed control . by cutting the bottom of a used & upcycled k-cup I added cruise control to my Afikim C4 & due to slip the otherday on my ride I discovered my C4 has a throttle engaged on start beep code.I had speed c. engaged & accidentally turned off power with C.C. still on so C4 wouldn't start till I turned it off. I love my C4 hope to get a S4 some day. thanks for ideas. I am turning my ol Pride Rally 3 wheeler into 4 wheel total custom will be going to 26" bicycle wheels & tires maybe using sets of 2 per hub to have plenty of weight capacity . body will look like a micro mini 1922 Ford TT C Cab panel delivery truck. wish me luck I'll be watching to see what you have next. really looking forward to your retreading tires that you talked about on here
JUST CAME ACROSS YOUR UPGRADE. I'M DOING THE SAME WITH MINE. GOT THE BIGGER WHEELS FROM SOMEONE TOSSING THEM OUT. LOOKING FOR THE HUBS. WHAT'S THE DIAM AND WHERE YOU GET THEM?
they make a few sizes of axles , Mine was 19mm . But the other scooter I have is 1 inch . I bought the hubs on Ebay . Make sure the lug bolt pattern is right as well . It helps to know what brand and model the wheels came from .. Thanks !!
Wish I could help you out more . Here is what I know .. Every model and maker has a different size hub . I have 2 Of these scooters different years same model, with different hub and bolt pattern sizes .. You will have to measure your lug bolts and the axle and order what your scooter needs . It makes a speed difference you will not even believe till you do the mod .. Be careful , With a fresh charge on the battery pack it can get away from ya .. God Bless & Happy Easter !!
The motor will experience more drag with the larger diameter. It will go faster when there's a small load but it will not have as much acceleration. You will experience slower speeds uphill just like before.
i've done this with a hub motor, i used a bigger wheel, it certainly works, cost more battery tho, and if you can make the mobility scooter blind to speed, then it will be faster too.
It'll go faster, but you lose torque, so harder to climb hills, carry heavy passengers, and slower to accelerate. If it is too much of a gearing change it could strain the motor, potentially even burn it up. Interesting experiment, youtube.
@@shawnmrfixitlee6478 when you gain speed you always lose torque but if you have enough torque it usually don't show up on these little electric scooters that bad it's just like in the motorcycle industry you got to know what size sprocket . I just do not have the funds to do some of these changes howeer. I also have a 4 wheeler (pulled-from-the side-of-the-road) that I'm dying to find the time to mess with starting by adding taller wheels/tires and changing to a more ergonomically and lightweight seat if I have to build one myself.
@@shawnmrfixitlee6478 did you use something like a Briggs engine? The really fast ones that I've seen seem to be go karts with the seat and tiller from a mobility scooter on. Then a motorcycle engine driving it.
NOPE.. Battery seems to last the same I have a meter on the dash to keep track .. Pulls any ramp I want to climb And goes WAY faster ! Had many say the same .. Just depends on how big you go on the tire size .. Mine is PERFECT !!

The standard wheel size is in case the rider is 400+lbs obese, and capable of taking such people up small hills. The motor may overheat and need to cool down after a long day, but I doubt the battery would last that long. No overvolting and ruining coils. No 'burnout'. Just lengthen the front forks buy bolting a longer piece of metal on each side of the forks and use the same tire?
That is an idea , I will prob do something with the front at some point ! Thanks Buddy ..
Did you loose torque?? Or up hill power?
No it is just the same . Only ground speed is way faster ! Thanks..
