His catalog is insane.. He's one of the greatest singers, songwriter, composer , musician of our lifetime. He's a one man band.
So much fun and joy in his music. Even his sad songs make me smile.
Pick any Stevie record. Drop the needle anywhere. Straight fire.
Not too mention he was blind
Living legend!
Stevie probably played every instrument on this record and the entire album too.
"I'm listening to the wrong stuff." Ha. Stevie is like one of the basic food groups of music. Your body requires regular servings. Stevie Wonder will teach you what *joy* sounds like, youngblood.
Preach on, brother.
Best comment EVER.
I second that emotion! Stevie Wonder IS MUSIC! What a gift to the world. Thank you Stevie!!
YESSSS
Damn! “Stevie is like one of the basic food groups of music” that’s gonna stick with me, so good! ❤👍🏽
“I didn’t know Stevie Wonder had vocals like this...”. Hear all the middle-aged and older people falling down as you said that?
Bro I'm 17 and I died
It’s a year later and my 38 year old self still on the floor 😂
I felt like Fred Sanford, Esther I’m coming to join you!!😮
My mouth literally hit the floor when I heard that... lol
😂😂😂😅
Can you believe he was around 25-26 when he released this song?!?!
Stevie Wonder is a gift from God ! Thank you Lord !
I'm a 56 year old white guy born and raised in Arkansas. I was dancing right along with you. I've loved Stevie my whole life, and this music makes me as happy today as it did when it first came out.
This album, "Songs in the key of life" is one the best albums of all-time. Listen to the entire album. The entire album.
There will never be another Stevie Wonder!!!👍
Yes, I want him to live FOREVER!
do yourself a favor: look up stevie's catalog and commit yourself to 1 album a week. the man's been singing for at least 60 yrs. start w fingertips, everything's alright, my cherie amour... musically unmatched
GREAT SUGGESTION!
And Stevie was paying tribute to Count Basie Duke Ellington Glen Miller all music from the 1940s which you should also listen to.
Yes!! Hot Jazz especially!!!
and Cab callaway.
This album, Songs for the key of life alone was nominated for 7 Grammy awards, including album of the year, which he had already won twice before. It's considered a Classic album! Every song should be done
Stevie Wonder is a genius. He references artist from the big band era in this song. Listen to Fingertips pt 2. He was 12 years old.
I'm the same age as Stevie. I remember when he first skyrocketed to fame with "Fingertips Pt 2". Recommend a live performance when he was "Little Stevie Wonder"
In the lyrics he’s listing off great profit black history month for you. Basie is Count Basie. Satchmo is Louis Armstrong. Sir Duke is Duke Ellington. Ella is Ella Fitzgerald.
Sorry for the *profit.* typo. I don’t know how to fix it.
@@mollyprice1485 There are 3 dots run vertically on the right side of your post., run the mouse over until it highlights them, click on them, highlight "edit post", correct typo error and then hit save.
Apparently it doesn’t have that on my phone but it does on my laptop. Holy crap! You’ve changed my life! Thanks! ❤️❤️❤️
@@mollyprice1485 Ah, I'm so accustomed to my full key board, large screen monitor. I work with those options. And a desk and a lamp. LOL ~;-) I really do hope I was of some assistance. You're Welcome
I have all that too, but I tend to “nest” in bed since quarantine. Why would I get up and put on real clothes when I could just snuggle with two huge dogs in bed? Lol! They tend to step on the mouse.
Stevie Wonder doesn't just have hit songs, the ICON has hit albums.
When Paul Simon won the Grammy in 1975, Paul literally thanks Stevie in his acceptance speech for not releasing a record that year so someone else can win best record
Written for Duke Ellington! Stevie is our greatest musical genius, IMO. And he’s playing most of the instruments! Hundreds of his songs are this quality.
You need to hear "I Wish", by Stevie Wonder, for funk perfection.....
Isn't it great to hear *singing*?!
Yes he had vocals like that.
Young brother, what you are hearing is REAL MUSIC made by REAL MUSICIANS. No Autotune, no sampling, no beat or drum machine, just real acoustic instruments playing in the studio. As for "I didn't know Stevie Wonder had vocals like that!"...... Now you know WHY he is a legend. He did not get there by accident. By the way, "Sir Duke" is his musical tribute to the jazz legend "Duke" Ellington.
i love stevie but this comment sucks. if you’re trying to say people like Madlib J Dilla and Kanye don’t make “real music” then check yourself into a mental hospital rn.
We are all so blessed stevie wonder came into this world
If you only do one other Stevie Wonder song this month, I think it should be Livin' for the City.
Yes the extended version
Yes! The album (Innervisions) version. Especially for Black History month. This song IS black history...
Loves in need
I love that one. Tells a story. ❤️
Agreed!!
Steveland's tribute to the great Duke Ellington.
Seeing you groove to this was a total joy, no lie. It's like living in black and white and suddenly seeing in color, isn't it? This is MUSIC. Real musicians, real instruments, and monster talent writing and arranging from the one and only Stevie Wonder. To say nothing of his tremendous voice. Keep going with Stevie, and all the other brilliant music from this era!! Great video!
His album "Inner visions" is prolific from beginning to end
He’s been singing since he was Little Stevie Wonder LOL. One of my all-time faves is Sunshine of My Life
Been collecting since he was little Stevie Wonder one of the best singer songwriters ever,in any time.
Music is a language we all understand! In 1977 I went nowhere without this -- in the car, shower, work, etc.... I'm 65 and love vibing wit you, my guy!
Stevie is the greatest American songwriter of all time. And one of our greatest vocalists too. His voice is incredibly powerful and dynamic
It does my heart good to see your reactions to well established, genuine greats like Stevie Wonder and others I've seen you listen to for the first time. I am your 78 year old fan.
that "Songs in the Key of Life" album is a masterpiece at the least.
come on young blood get in the game...the man was and is a genius
I paid 7.99 at Sam Goody in N.J. 1976 it had two albums it was a masterpiece. Stevie Wonder play most of the instruments on this album.
If you dive into Steve Wonders music you will drown in great music!
You owe it to yourself to check out every song on this masterpiece!
Stevie Wonder recorded a series of records that are literally legendary. "Talking Book"; "Innervisions"; "Fulfillingness' First Finale"; and "Songs In the Key of Life". These are, in my opinion, essential listening for fans of great music.
"Boogie On Reggae Woman"
"You Haven't Done nothing"
"I Wish"
"Isn't She Lovely"
"Higher Ground" - Highly recommended
""Living For the City" - Highly recommended
"Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing"
"You Are the Sunshine of My Life"
These are just some of the hit singles that these albums generated. We're not even getting into the 'deep tracks' on these records. There isn't a bad track anywhere to be found on any of the records I mentioned, but definitely start with these to give yourself an overview of one of the greatest talents in the history of American music.
Speaking of American music history, Stevie sings these lines in Sir Duke:
"Here are some of music's pioneers
That time will not allow us to forget
Well there's Basie, Miller, Satchmo
And the king of all Sir Duke
And with a voice like Ella's ringing out
There's no way the band can lose"
"Sir Duke" refers to the great American band leader and composer Edward Kennedy "Duke" Ellington. Then there's Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong and the voice of Ella Fitzgerald. If you are not familiar with the music of these legendary icons of American music you owe it to yourself to do a bit of exploration into the contributions they made. Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith and Sister Rosetta Tharpe are also names that you should to a deep dive into. Some of the greatest music ever recorded, in my opinion.
In Square Circle, Original Musicquarium, Lady In Red......
Definitely should hear his songs Master Blaster (Jammin), Higher Ground, Living For The City, I Wish.......heck, you can't go wrong with Stevie
Please listen to this album. It is a complete and total MASTERPIECE!!!
Stevie Wonder is a freaking force of nature! Do I Do is one of my favorites from him, in all its 10 minutes glory
I don't know how many players Stevie used to record this, but there were 18 members in the Duke Ellington Orchestra.
Knocks Me Off My Feet gorgeous
In many ways I envy young people, but I've just found another reason: you have such a huge back catalogue of great music to explore
Please do more stevie. Master Blaster is one of my favs❤️
I can't pick just one.....they are all Gold 😊
You are most def missing a lot! Check all his stuff out, it's dope af!
Thank you for all of your uploads 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Omg! Your uploads turned me into a stevie NUT I appreciate you so much!!!!
My favorite by Mr. Wonder is 'Overjoyed' ❤I hope you'll give it a listen, it is such a beautiful song❤
You obviously have a lot of old school music to listen to. Congratulations!
And yes, Ella Fitzgerald could shatter glass by singing according to some experts.
It's so wonderful to see your joy hearing real instruments. I hope you play this whole album and go on to listen to ALL of Stevie's music.
I'm pretty sure I still have a 45 record of Sir Duke! Great reaction Twon! My favorite Stevie Wonder song is Livin' For The City. Check it out!
Stevie is definitely one of a kind. Select any Stevie song and rock with it.
Also Black History month is not complete without Marvin Gaye's "What Going On" !!!!!!!!!!
Stevie has so much soul in his voice....he IS the GOAT ....Higher Ground, Knocks Me Off My Feet, Living For the City, My Cherie Amour.....fire!
Hit, after hit, after hit...he really is the definition of musical genius
Dude the man is a God and a musical genius. You should react to “you haven’t done nothin” as he gets the Jackson five to be the back up vocalists for that song. He also does a tribute to Bob Marley and to reggae in general on “master blaster jammin” and you may know Jodeci’s version of Stevie’s brilliant ballad “Lately” so you could react to that as well.
Master Blaster that's a great, great track
There are only a handful of songs i can tell you exactly where i was and what i was doing when i first heard it - this is one of them. i was about 5-6 and was swimming at the YMCA. Sir Duke came on outside and i loved it!
Jeezez your an old goat...i was 14 ...lol
Pure, awesome reaction to one of the greatest to EVER do it. I love watching the youngins being introduced to MUSIC! I enjoyed this, thanks.
Love the line....."Here are some of music's pioneers. ....that time will not allow us to forget"......Awesome music and lyrics. ...Stevie Wonder is one of the greatest music pioneers himself. ..A true Musical Genius.
I'm from Detroit and grew up on the Motown Sound - unbelievable time! I recommend "I Wish" it is funky!
Songs in the Key of Life is one of the greatest albums of my life. I am 70.
Legendary
Saw him in 2014 performing this whole album! Four hours including the one hour encore he suggested!!! I cried with extreme joy for much of it.
I love the song As on this album. It is gorgeous, perfection.
Stevie signed with Motown at 11 years old. He's a gift for our lifetime we live. Enjoy him.
Singer, song writer, musician and blind. One of the greatest!!!! Songs In The Key Of Life is one of the baddest albums ever made. PERIOD!
Sir Duke is responsible for my love of any band with a horn section. I love the fact that Stevie pays tribute to the jazz greats who influenced his music.
He also has one of the most romantic, tender love song called,There's a Ribbon in the Sky For Our Love...💞
His music is pure joy, so glad to see your face light up and get your groove on
Stevie Wonder captured pure joy better than anyone. ‘Isn’t she lovely’ is a must.
Stevie Wonder was a true prodigy at like age 10 and one of the greatest musicians to EVER DO IT!! He has a ton of great songs and lots of different styles. LIVING LEGEND!!
Stevie Wonder is one of the rare artists that can give me chills. Voice of an angel.
Our singer/songwriter genius!!!!!! This is about the iconic Duke Ellington- America’s great composer and bandleader.
Stevie is another one of the G.O.A.T.s! 💖🐐
Stevie Wonder: 25 Grammys.
Genius Stevie. American citizens, please be proud of this U.S. genuine National Treasure, it`s a Diamond. Nothing left to say..
You should really check out Isaac Hayes "Theme from Shaft" He put great instruments together to make great sounds.
For black history month:
check out songs these songs :
black butterfly- Denise Williams
I'm black and I'm proud- James brown
Black man- Steve Wonder
The look on your face hearing this is priceless!!!
:D One of the most basic things you learn about music as you grow older is that *you really have a LOT MORE to learn.* Open your ears, your heart and your mind and enjoy the ride. Mr. Wonder's first hit was in 1963 when he was only thirteen years old.
We waited 5yrs for this album. Take time and listen the entire joint. Hits all the way to the end.
Stevie is a legit genius can play 8-10 instruments himself. His very first album
He released at 13 where he played every instrument himself. It is so cool check it out "Fingertips"
If you really love me... my absolute favorite Stevie track. Vocal skills on point.
It called an “arrangement”. Yeah, Stevie is one hell of an arranger! Welcome to music
I am a new subscriber, 82 , white , female , retired RN, living in North Carolina , and I absolutely love that you are reacting to some of my old favorites like, BEEGEES, STEVIE WONDER, STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN, SIMPLY RED, BEATLES, KAREN CARPENTER, LITTLE RIVER BAND. The newer singers like DIMASH, BTS, CHRIS STAPLETON, KENDRICK LAMAR, NF, JUNGKOOK, HOME FREE, ADELE, are also great. You are also soooo cute!!!!
Stevie's catalog is insanely brilliant! In a three hour session of creative genius in 1973, he composed, recorded, played EVERY instrument and produced 'Higher Ground'. Check it out.
I’ve listened to this song a thousand times and im still wondering how the hell can music be this good
Stevie is one of the greatest there ever was
Livin For The City
By: Stevie Wonder
I am crying right now because you are a young person listening to music from the past and it makes me happy.
The horn riff is fire and his band is absolutely tight.
Hi. This is Stevie’s tribute to the late great jazz musician Duke Ellington.
Ahhhhhh Stevie! Treat yourself to "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" & " Part-time Lover"!!! Ah hell, listen to his whole catalogue! Love your channel! #NoLimitNation"
if this song doesn't make you smile, you're dead from the inside out.
Living For the City is a definite must do Stevie Wonder reaction
This is a song you can tell was a blast to record. Everyone sounds like they're just having a great time. Such a jam.
Your face says it all, the 70s Stevie is his best decade, that intro ooft, genius, legend, there aren't enough superlatives to describe him.
That whole album is 🔥🔥
Not specific to this reaction but I wanted to point it out
It's refreshing to see young people who can get into older music. Keep it coming. Here are a couple of black artists you should see. "Solomon burke - cry to me" 1961. "Jackie Wilson - lonely teardrops" 1959, "higher and higher" 1961
Can I just say that the way he was jammin' to this tune was awesome!?
Stevie didn't need anyone else's participation to make a great album. He did it all.
By far my favorite Stevie Wonder song...♡
I grew up at the same time as Stevie Wonder! I was about 10 years old when I heard him for the first time on the radio. He was known as Little Stevie Wonder back then, a dynamo of talent! I still have some of his hits on my old 45 records!
This was our "Friday song" in my office for years. Just makes you happy!
I don’t know ANYONE who doesn’t love Stevie Wonder! 😎💕
Stevie Wonder is a musical genius.
Stevie is a joy maker…loved watching!!! Welcome to the club! ✌🏼🎶
See? He too can feel it all over.
Stevies 60's motown stuff is worth a listen. You think his voice sounds great here, go there. I LOVE watching you youngins discover REAL MUSIC. Keep it up my brother, you're only scratching the surface of greatness.
Stevie Wonder had a LIFETIME of creating great music. I remember seeing him singing "Fingertips" when he was just a little kid! It was only "up" from there. He, to me (an old white boomer) was and will always be one of the greatest music creators and performers. It's a pleasure to see new generations discovering him and his genius.
Your reaction is the same reaction we had when we first heard this song. When this album came out it had a seismic effect on music. It still has an effect on me today. I slip right back to that time I heard this on AM radio in the car.
