I refer to this as my sustainable hair journey because it is in a effort to use less of the earths resources all around my life. Sustainability can be applied to many aspects of our lives. With this hairstyle I use less chemicals and less water. Less manipulation of my hair and less time spent playing around with styles. My hair is thriving. My hair has grown and my hair is healthy. FINALLY
#trusttheprocess Sounds cliche however it something that is real. Similar to sewing, this process requires patience.
My hair:
I have 4c, long but very fine, very thin and low density hair especially in my crown. My journey is unique and I hope this series helps someone. This video is my experience. My experience is unique to only me. I'm just here to share my journey. I'm learning everyday.

I’m at the 17 months mark in my SisterLocks journey as well. However, I have really thick and longer hair. But when I got SisterLocks I was concerned about my thick hair getting heavy and experiencing breakage. So I decided to start taking Nutrafol hair supplements when I got established. I know it expensive, but I haven’t experienced any thinning or breakage to date.
Disclaimer: I have thick, long 3B/3C hair, so your results my vary. Also, I started retieing my own hair at 6 months. I felt like my money was better spent towards the Nutrafol than the retie appointments. Just my choice, of course, and admittedly it is influenced by the fact I have always hated going to salons and having to sit still for hours.

Ahhh that’s interesting. Right now I just don’t have the time to do my own reties but I would love to someday. I’ll look into that product

I retie my hair over the course of several days. For me what works best is a couple of hours in the evening before bed. Taking the time to isolate each row and loc is key. As well as not waiting too long between reties to keep the number of rotations reasonable.

Love your locks. Mine are very similar to yours. I’m going on 5 years locked come January 11 2024. You mentioned a loctition close to you who isn’t taking new clients, so are you doing your own reties?

Wonderful. I’m looking forward to the 5 year mark. No I found someone else. I’d like to do my own reties someday

I find locs curls to stay better when I use only water, no product at all.

Thanks. I tried that too and they dropped. Honestly I think it’s the humidity. This week they held up better and the temps were in the 60/70’s with 0 humidity. 👍🏽
