This amazing music really reinforces my belief that the long night should have been a season long apocalypse of darkness, cold and despair. So much build up for what was essentially the end of the world, the greatest threat humanity would ever face
the battle may have been dumb, but we all have to agree that the soundtrack was EPIC, especially that ticking heartbeat effect in the background, pure awesomeness
The battle was crappy. It looked awesome, it really did, but the plot armors and stupid tactics make it worse than Battle of the Bastards or Blackwater
@Not Alfie i'm not bitching that Arya killed the Night King, i might be bitching about HOW she did it. I mean come on, he was surrounded by White Walkers and wights. It was impossible even for her to get past that many men. And how high was that fucking jump? No human being can jump from the ground that high. And don't try to tell me that being the faceless man gives you ability to jump like a fucking kangaroo. If only they made it like this - they show one of the wights, who takes of his face and it is in fact Arya, then she runs from the guys and she tries to attack NK, and the rest is unchanged - then it would make some more sense, because she would use her faceless man skills, and not just "Hi, I'm Arya Stark and i'm the best character on the show because i can do anything and fuck logic". I love Arya, or at least I loved her before they made her too OP, but the things that D&D make right now make me like her less and i'm pretty sad about it. Same goes to Jon, i liked him until season 7. But that is another story with a different motive, so maybe next time ;)
@Not Alfie and ok, maybe BotB wasn't the best example, but battle of Castle Black is a better one. It had good tactics (they fought from the walls and not in front of them so the enemy can smash them in seconds and i'm not talking about the Dorhraki cause they don't know shit about tactics) and some liked characters died dedfending The Wall. If only they made something simillar with Battle of Winterfell, we would have got the very best battle in history. It was beautiful, but stupid at monents and we sadly can't do anything about it :/
@Not Alfie the battle was awful. There was no continuity and all logic went out the window. The tactics on the defenders side alone was ridiculius. Sure it had some epic moments and at first it was intense but then it went full hollywood. Some of the lighting and quick cuts were far too jarring. Plus the battle was so simplistic compared to all the potential it could of had but there was nothing groundbreaking going on. Hardhome was done far better.
I love the dragon's first scene on the battle. Everyone is so hopeless yet they see two giant dragons on their side, flying and raining fire on the wights but still you can feel the hopelessness. The music is like a strong flame that inspires but still fades away.
8:05 is literally the only place you can find that small peice of Danys theme as it's not on any of the OST. Such a shame it needs an extended version!
Still here a month later.. I can't remember a movie, show, or any form of entertainment that was as much fun and at the same time gave me anxiety then this GoT episode!
Caleb Petrie they killed a lot of heroes in the episode. Some of them less popular then others, but a lot of them did die. - Sam’s friend in Nightwatch - Lyanna Mormont - Dothraki General - Red Woman - Guy with flame sword - Newly appointed Karstark Female It’s just that Theon and Jorah were the most notable.
Man, Against all Odds is still incredible and accompanies the same kind of scene it was made for (Frozen Lake Battle): despair facing the huge tidal wave of zombies that is relieved with the epic Targaryen theme and finishing with Truth, the theme of Jon as a Targaryen (and Aunt lover). Daenerys always gets the best scenes out of the worst situations.
7:32 was one of my favorites I don’t even know the instruments used but that little tick that goes over and over… I just really enjoyed in that scene. It added a level of intensity.
It's literally why I listen to the music with this video, it sounds so well placed, menacing and stressful. That ticking sound isn't there in the OST version. :(
This soundtrack is great. I wish there were one with the blaring horns marking the next stage of battle. It usually accompanies the pano shots. Like, right after Dothraki charge, when the ground troops start to understand what they're dealing with. Another is an extended shot of Gendry, both from behind and in front, as he watches the dead clamber up the wall.
15:57 this music was playing at the scene where Jorah had his last stand and defended his Khaleesi until his dying breath. This is the only scene that made me bawl me eyes out since the red wedding.
Thank you for putting this together to tide us over until more gets officially released. If GoT released the soundtrack to just this single episode in its entirety, I would absolutely buy it. (One of my favorite sci-fi shows of all time, Babylon 5, used to do that sort of thing, albeit with music that was not *nearly* as epic as this!!!)
When he shot laserbeams out of his eyes at he nightking riding viseryion then after the dragon crashed onto the ground and there was that shot of the white walker general's surrounding Stannis before the nightking stepped through them to face Stannis.
Season 8 should’ve been 10 episodes. 5 about fighting the white walkers/the long night and the other 5 about dealing with Cersei. As the characters still alive develop throughout the season.
Yh the Nerdwriter has a really good video on it and explains how it's done. It's basically an endless loop of notes going up and simultaneously going down.
Battle themes were the best, hope they will include this in OST. Shame there won't be anymore of NK/Undead theme big shame, they should won and bring massive blizzard down South.
oh man, that bit was epic. It sounds like something that I know from somewhere. But what does it sound like? especially 14:30 onwards. It sounds so familiar yet I can't put my finger on it. Arrghhh
@@xenomads ah not quite. Also thought it could be unnatural selection but don't think that's it either. I was convinced it was something off of a muse album though. Resistance or one of the symphony ones.
I finally figured out what 2:58 reminded me of and it has been bugging me for days now. It sounds VERY similar to the track "Norman" from the movie "Fury" ost!
Is the music that plays at 7:30 - 9:20 anywhere on the soundtrack. I can’t seem to find it at all. One of my favourite pieces in the whole episode. Great job with the video.
When they dug the trenches and filled them with spikes then lit them on fire they should have dug them to 10 feet long so they couldn’t suffocate the fire so easily.

I guess I'm kinda off topic but does anybody know a good site to watch new movies online?
@Titus Hank Lately I have been using FlixZone. Just search on google for it =)
@Trey Magnus Yea, I've been using FlixZone for years myself :D
Finally someone noticed, that entire episode had a lot of wonderfull, new music done for this battle...
Yes!
Yup! People focus on the Night King theme, but the whole episode had superb scoring
Yep. No matter how stupid that Dothraki charge was it doesn't stop it from being accompanied by one of season 8's best scores!
@@gameofthronesofficialmusic8452 it was only the ost which had gotten us emotionally involved
The acting and of course the Soundtrack , was the ONLY things good about Season 8.

My favorite pieces, hope they make it unto the official release.
17:12 - 18:15. Most suspenseful minute and three seconds in television history!

I've been looking for the score for forever. The only one out is The Night King, which is still really good. But, the whole episode score was amazing!
5:09 Thank you Melisandre the light of the episode
Omg Melisandre lighting the barricade sounds amazing
A C Seriously! That has to be the best rendition of the Lord of Light theme i've ever heard!

"Theon... You're a good man. Thank you..."
Osiris 😭😭😭
Tell that to the farm boys he had slaughtered and displayed at Winterfell :P.
"Euron and Ramsay... Thank for making him a good man…"

He died Theon Greyjoy.
He paid the iron price, redeemed himself, and earned the respect of everyone.
@@TheTruthIsGonnaHurt And also might I add, he died a Stark as well but yes, what is dead never may die as winter came for Theon Greyjoy.

TheTruthIsGonnaHurt they killed so many people but you forgot all of their names except one dude that sure says something doesn’t it?
Oh my god I love the part with the horns at 4:10
I rewatched the episode like three times just to heard that part. And I hated the episode!
It's the part where the Ravens fly above the Castle and see the NK and he's controlling the wights to commit suicide in the trenches.
@@jefftennis3907 It's the part where the ice storm comes and Jaime fights the wights. Also when the dragon torched a giant.

I'm trying to find the part where Brans Ravens fly and find the NK in the sky.

Yep ! I did a mashup of the two ruclips.net/video/mvDs2xF85ZI/видео.html
Partially? You could almost sub each track out and into the other's scene and I gurantee it would still work for both scenes.
It's the piano - we've only ever heard it twice in GoT.
