December in SWITZERLAND - THIS you NEED to KNOW!

- December is a very interesting time to visit Switzerland. However, there are some important things to bear in mind. Many attractions and roads will be closed due to the Winter season. Thus, traveling in December very much differs from Summer. December is the month of Christmas! There will be many Christmas markets all around Switzerland; in Zürich, Basel, Montreux, and elsewhere. Some Christmas markets are open on a daily base, certain only for few days or on weekends. Most of the villages, small towns and cities will have beautiful Christmas light decorations, which are very enjoyable to see. December is considered peak season, surely between Christmas and new Year. Many tourists will flock to Switzerland and hotels are going to be heavily booked! It’s very important to reserve hotels months in advance and restaurants days or weeks before you plan to dine there. During December, there is a chance for snow fall, certainly up in the Swiss Alps there will be quite some snow and even white Christmas is very possible up there. In general, the weather in December in Switzerland is not so cold down in the plateau. Ski resorts are already operating, before Christmas it’s going to be rather empty but between Christmas and New Year it will be full. Most of the pass roads in Switzerland are closed during December; car train tunnels will serve as a shortcut instead. Try also the seasonal food of Switzerland: Fondue, raclette, vermicelles, fondue chinoise and many other delicacies. The many Christmas markets will offer a great selection of Christmas dishes. Traveling in December in Switzerland is surely a great idea! Bare in mind that on Christmas itself, everything is going to be closed and will reopen on 27th of December.

I have been fortunate to visit Switzerland twice (during the summer). We stayed in Lucerne and it was amazing. I bought a watch there and,as a photographer, was captivated by the beauty. I hope to spend a couple of weeks there in the future and travel the entire country.
Hi Glenn. That's great that you had such a nice time here in Switzerland. Please visit again and discover some of the less-known places. It's also very beautiful away from the hot spots.
My country I beautiful country proud to live there 🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭

I already left switzerland 10 days ago and spent two weeks in October there, I already miss it! wish I could've experienced the Christmas markets as my birthday is in December, but thats okay, maybe next time!
Hi. I am happy to read that you had a great time in Switzerland during October. I hope you will visit Switzerland one day during Christmas Season!
Christmas is definitely more magical in Switzerland/Europe. I was there in 2015 and as you mentioned, was a bit disappointed at the lack of snow on the ground in the lower regions like Lauterbrunnen. Still it was very beautiful and hope to experience it again.
Hi Karen. Thank you very much for your nice comment. I love the Christmas spirit here. I shall go though one day to Strassbourg and other Alsace as people say they have the best Christmas markets in Europe. Unfortunately, down in Lauterbrunnen there is not a high chance for snowfall. It's too low and the weather too mild. With the ongoing and worsening global warming snowfall is getting rarer and rarer in such low locations but eventually also up in the mountains this will be an issue some day. This worries me.
I spent the week in a Lauterbrunnen Christmas 2015 with a train pass so I got to see some spectacular scenery. I had to pay extra to go to the Jungfroujoch (sorry can’t spell) which was fantastic, I am so glad that I did this! I also enjoyed visiting Wengen, Murren and Piz Gloria. The days were mostly sunny with blue skies which made it perfect for photos. I can’t wait to get back to Switzerland, I really loved it!
BTW, I am from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and really enjoy watching your vlogs. Thank you.

What is the name of the resort that you showed in this video (near the sky section)?
I was supposed to go in November to Zurich but work postponed me to mid December. One of my key places to attend however is Zermatt/ Matterhorn. Based on what you told me. Maybe I should just wait. Great video insight btw!

Hello Djemo. Interested in your video about Switzerland in December. I'm planning a trip to Switzerland in December 2023 landing in Zurich early December. I'm very interested to know if there are any Christmas Market in Zurich. I will probably stay near the Zurich Hb so I could get around on Christmas Market. If there are other places that may be interested to visit please let me know. Many thanks and much appreciate your help.

Albula Pass road gets converted into a toboggan track between Preda and Bergün \m/

Where is the best place to go sledding in december near geneva? I'm really struggling to find anything :(@@DjemoGraphic

Hi. Theres a big fireworks i think. Else i can recommend you up in the Alps, e.g. Andermatt
Where is the location at 3:36? I am visiting next month from Texas and would love to see something like this. Also what time was that taken? I’m assuming the clouds are not like that all day.
Thanks!
Hi Walker. Thats mostly as foggy as this during November and maybe also early December. The place is at Stoos. I have presented this in brief in my Top 10 Autumn video:

That's my beautiful country where I live in peace 🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭
Hi, we're planning to visit Switzerland in first week of December. I heard a lot of attractions/rides are closed during November. Do you think they are already open during first week of Dec please? 😊
Hi. Ski season start in late November depending on the amount of snow; so yes, most likely all Winter attractions are open during December. But all the attractions for Summer season will remain closed.
Is there Krampus parade in Switzerland around 5. December, like in Bavaria or Austria/Südtirol?
Hi. Very good question! No, but we have the Tschäggättä, a unique tradition held during February. You will see it on my next video that I will post on Friday.
Hi! Is Grindelwald already snowy in December 1? Visiting this year!
Hi. Up at the First [Firsht] its quite possible, down in the village unlikely. Have a great visit!
Does the zurikh rail station or other capital station open at night time? If open is the train facilities available for wholenight travell like in an app i have seen that starting from zurikh to bern after 00:00 it takes 5 hour to reach there so the train stops between the stations if the travellers are allowed to wait the remaining time on station between the last train at around 00:00 and the 1st train arount 5:00 am ??? Cuz it is quite risky to stay lone in night on the road.....so I was thnking of sitting and waiting at the station for that time interval.....
Will any police show any objection in it???
Hi. I recommend you to stay at a hostel. After 1am, the train station will be empty until 5 am. Else, you might want to go to bars. Zürich is quite safe.
Does the road are well crowded in night in zurikh after 12 am i mean throughout the whole night?in this new year time mean around the christmas time? And if so then is it safe??
Hi. Its safe in Switzerland. After 12am, its low life. New year's eve will be certainly crowded in Zürich. On the 24th and 25th, the city will be empty. Everyone celebrates Christmas
🤘🤘🤘🌹
Kopkun krub!
Hi. Going there n December… is it ok to fly drones in Switzerland?
Hi Ian. Happy you will visit Switzerland in December. It depends where you fly. This drone map shows you areas at where you need a permit to fly: www.bazl.admin.ch/bazl/en/home/drohnen/drones-and-aircraft-models/drohnenkarte.html Also please respect people's privacy, don't fly low in touristy places as many hate the noise and never fly above crowds. There are more laws to follow. This link shall help: www.bazl.admin.ch/bazl/en/home/drohnen/drohnen/wichtigsten-regeln.html
What's the weird head thing in shot behind you?
U mean the lamp behind or the Buddha head?
Hi! Is there any attractions that we can go / do on Christmas Day?
Opss i didnt mention the location. In geneva 😊 my flight will be arriving geneva on 24/12 evening
In touristy places like Jungfrau and pretty much any ski resort i guess yes. In the cities rather not. Its a dead day pretty much
I really like that shirt
Thank you. Thats my "trademark"😜😜
@@DjemoGraphic you should sell them
