I'm an Englishman in Russia. I got a piece of land 12 "sodki" and a builders project house of 250m². It was built really well and cost me in pounds £105k. And it's so peaceful here. (Now worth 150k after one year... ps. I'm 40 minutes outside Moscow)
There are issues with some houses and quality control, but like anywhere in the world, you get what you pay for. If you go cheap, which quite a few Russians do, well, they have an expression for that: a greedy person pays twice.
    Thanks for the great vids!

In Canada - 2inch x 4inch x 12ft = $11.13 CAD (including the 11% tax) or $7.72 USD. So, wood in Siberia is at least 60% cheaper after conversion. Plus Siberian 2x4's are 'actually' that size. In Canada it isn't 'really' 2inch x 4inch. Rather, it is 1.5inch x 3.5inch. Also, you are showing wood that is 4000mm or 13.12ft long, not 12ft long like I'm pricing out. So, really, it's probably around 70% cheaper per kilogram of actual wood. :) I keep finding that by taking wealth from Canada to Russia, you effectively 3x the purchasing power of your savings. That's an immediate 300% increase the day it converts. Try and get that in the stock market in 1 day... :)

Based on your conversation it’s obvious you know very little about construction. Your terminology (English) for construction techniques is that of an amateur.
I hope you learn more before you proceed with the construction of your home.

@ as I stated in my comment, that was obvious.
All I mentioned is you had better increase your knowledge base in construction before venturing off into building your own home. Be it Russia or the US, or any other country you care to name some contractors, once they get wind that you are a green horn (know little about the trade), they will try and take advantage of your lack of knowledge! Having owned and operated a successful business in the construction industry for 47 years, I caution you buyer be ware. Try reading some books on basic construction and learn the proper terminology. It will go a long way in keeping you from getting overcharges or taken advantage of! Please accept my criticism as constructive, not intended to bash you in any way. I just understand how construction people think, from the business owner to the laborers on the job, be careful, and take time to educate yourself!

@@dennisdumas1734 it is very true and applies to Russia as well. Even if contractor does not want to cheat on you, he may choose or insist on decisions which he likes, but later you may realize that it is not what you wanted. However, there is no other way than build one house, meet all issues and later build another.
