Playback Function key = off is one of the most important things to do initialy. I've seen dozens of LD's that parked some seq's (2x pause and then some executor) cause of muscle memory.
Hi Cat, thanks for the video! Do you know if there is a way to use the mouse on the lower left command screen? I have not been able to get it to work. Thanks!
I am surprised that I have not found it as yet but accessing the ch pg + and ch pg - function? is that via X key/MA combo? I am using a Mini MA3 in MA2 mode. thank you!
Hi Cat! I have really enjoyed your channel! Been a big fan for a long time! I am having an issue I was hoping to get some insight with if that is ok. Sorry for such a long post. I am in the process of setting up our brand new full size MA3. It is such a beauty. Currently setting everything up in MA2 mode and then in MA3 mode. Our plan is to connect via sACN to our new Green Hippo Karst and output to our NovaStar to go to the LED wall. I am having an issue with controlling both the lighting rig and media server with the MA3. I believe eth0 is set up for MA Net specifically and eth1 is setup for ArtNet/sACN in MA2 mode. Does this mean we can only run sACN to either the lighting rig or media server and not both at the same time? How would you go about tackling this problem? Would you connect MA Net to Hippo on eth0 and then control the lighting rig on eth1? P.s. Do you offer a patreon? I would definitely support you to pick your brain about lighting and video. Thank you for your time! -Alvan Friend
Hi Alvan! First off- Thank you for watching for all these years!! And congrats on that MA3!!! They are pretty sweet looking. I’ll tell you what I know and how I think it’s meant to work... but if you’re still having troubles, you might need to hit up MA tech support. Ok- so there’s no reason why you can’t talk to your rig and your hippo at the same time. If I’m understanding your setup correctly, you’re using your MA3 in MA2 mode, sending sACN to the Hippo and also sACN to your lights? Or are you using MAnet or Artnet to your rig? (Any of these setups are fine... and you can also send MAnet to the Hippo). The sACN and the MAnet route out of eth0. I tested this on our MA3 last night and definitely saw correct sACN values from port 1 (eth0). So, you should be able to drop a switch in line from eth0 and run lines from that to the Hippo and to your rig. The hippo should play equally nice with a control protocol of either sACN or MAnet. Eth1 could be used if you want to send Artnet. I hope that helps! You’re so kind to ask about the Patreon- yes I do have one... and 2 of the 3 tiers are currently available. @@consoletrainer Thank you for the reply, Cat! Thank you for clarifying the ports and sharing all this terrific information. Yes, our goal is to setup the lighting rig and media server using sACN. Update: We managed to get the lighting system and media server working together in MA2 mode! I owe you a coffee! Haha Once everything was set, it’s been smooth sailing. I even hooked up our FullBoar4 and everything is working there as well. Our next item is getting the systems running in MA3 mode. I was able to gain access to the unreleased MA3 personalities from Green Hippo and are in the process of testing them out. Since the layout is so completely different in MA3 mode and the way you patch is a little tricky, I’m having trouble gaining control of the media server. Can you use MA2 personalities in MA3 mode? The lighting rig is still going strong but we did run into an issue with Con1 being used for connectivity. For some reason it wasn’t playing nicely so we moved over to Con2 and everything has been going smoothly. Have you ran into this issue? It’s fascinating to learn all the ins and outs of the system and setup. Now once these are figured out and I can troubleshoot, it’s on to creating cues and digging into the creative side of both systems and pushing them to there limits. We’ve come a long way from Axon and Hog3 and can’t wait to do shows again!
@@GreenHell840 You can move your MA2 profiles into MA3, yes- but it's not a perfect science. Because the MA3 software is still in pretty active development.... I'm personally not putting it on any shows (MA3 hardware=yes, MA3 software=not yet). Support will tell you it's show stable, but from a programmer's perspective- there's still enough implementation missing that it isn't going to cut it on my gigs (yet). It will get there. For now, I leave the MA3 in MA2 mode because none of my clients care what software I'm using. They only care that they get the show that they want and nothing fails; they don't care if the software is new. :) But, of course, it's fun to play with. As far as your port 1 giving you trouble - It sounds like there is a possible hardware problem in your desk. Not a big deal. On the MA2s, I remember that if there was an issue with the network card and port1 didn't initialize- it could assign that network to Port2. I don't know if this will happen on the MA3, but I'd definitely recommend giving support (ACT Lighting in North America) a call to make sure everything is cool. They'll get you sorted!
Hi! I already runned grandma3 on pc and I want to change to ma2 mode. When I restart or turn on doesn’t ask me which mode I want to run. Can you help me?
Hi :) Sorry to bother you, I want to ask you an information: It's possible change the value in the function moving truss on Grand ma 3d in pc? I mean a number higher than 100? If it's possible, how can I make it? I hope to have your answer! Thank's for read this message :)
Hi Roberto! You're not bothering me at all! Are you talking about moving truss like in my video about Movement paths? (ruclips.net/video/cE8bQ_hcShs/видео.html) Sounds like you need to raise a truss higher than the channel will allow you? Is all that correct?
Hi Roberto- I wrote a reply to this last week, but it looks like it got deleted. (?) It was pretty long, too- darn it! The short answer is you can't make a channel that goes to 100% (DMX 255) go beyond 100%... so I recommend looking at where your truss's starting position is. By default- the starting position sits at 50%. Do you need the truss to go low in 3D? If not- I'd set the channel to 0% on the console and then reset the truss's position in 3D to the lowest place you'd ever need it to go. Then you'll have more top end.

Hi there! The option to pick different software is only on the console. To run grandMA2 onPC, you just download that software from MA Lighting.
