I'm probably not understanding something but from this video makes no sense to me and yes the P16s are perfect. They give each person a personal monitor mix digitally. No need for a snake or the DN4816-O just have the XR18 on stage for the inputs and FOH can just connect to wifi with a computer to the XR18 for the main mix. (he did write FOH so I assume that is what they are doing?)

He has an M32 + the XR18 + another mackie digital mixer + the DN4816-O and he is using the ultranet just to go from the XR18 to the DN4816-O in a single rack just to have more outputs for the Mackie. I might be missing something but this seems way more complicated than it needs to be.
Thanks @seantallica2020, great content and coverage of the Ultranet connectivity options. I have a question: If I connect the Behringer X Air XR18 via USB to Logic Pro X (LPX) to record a multitrack live show using the guitar input (from one of the Hi-Z inputs) loaded with FX plug-ins in LPX (modeling, reverb, pedalboard, etc.), would the FOH (via the Midas DN4816-O) only receive the direct guitar input, or would it also receive what I hear in my IEM (with the FX plug-ins)?
This is a pretty good question, I haven’t really looked into that, this is what I would do: 1. I want to know how many channels to send to the FOH, bc we are limited to 16 outs. 2. The only other answer to that is on your channel 1 or 2(Hi-Z) will not send to FOH(Basically DI signal) instead you need to send its back from LPX, here’s how I would do it: Channel 1, guitar input Channel 2 USB 2(coming from LPX) On the p16 page 1-16 choose usb 2(that will send that usb from LPX) I am assuming while you record, you also have a track playing back what your plugins are on(that will be USB 2) From then you can use channel 2(from Xr 18) as a analog fader, send it to Buses, and your p16 is set, I hope that helps pls tell me if I got it or not!!
We want this for a similar but slightly different purpose, to connect the DN4816-O outputs to the front of house while using the XR-18s aux outputs for our IEMs. This should also be possible, right?
This is possible, my only worry is who will set the Gain, my example is Me(FOH) send 16 outs to the IEM(Band) your example will work, but you have to make sure to set gain right and DO NOT adjust it during the show, as for FOH will not be able to adjust it, they will only receive line level signal, while setting up adjust all your inputs to at least -18 as that is 0 dBfs for the XR 18, also on the p16 leave all tap points at Input, hope this helps!
I don't understand how this Midas DN4816-O removes the need for a splitter. I know it connects via Ethernet, but... each band member would just plug into the front of the XR18 and then the Midas DN4816-O does what....
There are other ways to use the rack unit, you could use it for more outputs like on the m32, send 16 bus sends off of the main board, and maybe 1-6 matrix from the the DN4816-O For my use, since I use my M32 for FOH, I use the DN to send 16 raw channels for a bands IEM setup, in my case for one band I send 1-15, and for channel 16 I send a talk back channel to them. It’s good for my use but it’s different for others
Hey, curious if the outputs on the Midas unit sound any better (cleaner?) than the behringer? I’m familiar with the behringer’s outputs, just wondering if the Midas, (conversion) is any better. Thanks!
This unit only sends the “line out” of the Behringer, from the P16 1-16 channels, so that means the preamp from the Behringer is being send through this unit, I believe if you used the input version of the unit it costs more due to having the Midas preamps. In my case I now use the m32C(DL32) and I hear a difference in preamps, when I send the p16 to this unit from my m32, it is the same, line out of what preamp is being sent: S32 dL32 Xr12/16/18 X32 M32
Hey! João from Brazil here! It's a little hard for me understand the use of the DN 4816-O and DN 4816-I connected at the XR18. we have a XR18, and we are looking for ways to have more in/out channels because they got not enough for us. Can you explain if the DN 4816-O and DN 4816-I can add more in/out channels to the XR18, or is just a solution to don't use the plugs on the XR18? would the s32 a solution to us? it works? thank you so much!
Sorry for the late response! My understanding is that the DN4816-O can only be used on the xr18, not the 48-16-I(from my research) But this is what I used it for a while back: 1-16 outs(from the DN) are raw inputs from my XR18(1-16) and I send that signal to another iem board, or a non Music Tribe Board. You not only can send raw channels 1-18(including different tap points) but it uses the P-16 built in, hence the ultranet in and out from the DN, you can also send: LR Buses 1-6(dif tap points) FX 1-4 The mentioned channels in 1-18(dif tap points) USB 1-18(if your XR 18 is connected to your computer) And of course headphones It does not add extra INDIVIDUAL OUTS, but the same amount as the board You cannot expand 16 buses, though you can but it has to be either 1-6 of the buses! I hope that helps, I know there are more videos out that can explain better!
I don’t believe so, the purpose of me having it is to send 16 “raw” channels to a bands IEM, or even the Front of house mixer, I am currently running tests to see how much I can do on the Xair series, and the x32 series, this is a brand new stage box meant for stage connect, this weekend I will be using it to full potential and make a video about it so everyone fully knows!
