    The height of the feet is a sweet detail. Many units can't be stacked on an amp head, because the handle destabilizes any thing on top of it.

    Holy crap! They've done it! Sounds amazing! Moved into an apartment a year ago and although I love my place, I've been unable to record my amp (65' Princeton Reverb RI) at home. I'm a full-time musician so it's been difficult, and although Bias FX is good it just doesn't feel the same. I'd imagine this probably would? If so it's going to be my next purchase

    This thing sounds great... My only issue is it seems like the output simply comes in a stereo pair, which is really inhibiting during the mixing process. It could really use the ability to separate the mics from the room and the effects... What happens when you get into a mix and the tracked sound is to wet, or you want a section of the song to be just the room mics? Really bummed because I would snatch that up in a hear beat!

    I have a AC15C2 amp for home use and it's quality apart from the extreme loudness of it, my neighbor's love me "not"
    I am looking at purchasing one but I can't cant find a demo of how to set it up, what cables to disconnect and where they go into the OX.
    Is this something you would be interested in doing ?

    Is this true bypass? Like the rivera rock crusher you can just switch it off so that there is no attenuation. That way you can get the tone you want. With the attenuator already plugged in and ready to go. But the attenuation doesn't kick in until you decide to turn it on

    One question..ok..you can manipulate the sound with a lot of different cabinets. But the outsound comes from the fender speaker all the time ? So that speaker can not be manipulate ? So the outsound always comes out from the speaker that is connected? Right ?..Best regards.

      I also have AC15 and you can either plug it into EXTERNAL SPEAKER OUT with the same Ohm set on the device as on the switch on the back of the amp and have the ability to silently use just the monitor out or headphones OR plug into EXTENSION SPEAKER OUT with 16ohm setting on the device and use built-in speaker of the combo along with having ability to send signal from the OX to an interface, FOH or headphones

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  Год назад +1

      Hi, Florian! Thanks for your message.
      The OX output to a physical cab does not pass the modeled speakers or any of the studio signal processing. The line outs and digital outs carry the emulation. A 3-button footswitch is assignable to EQ and effects in programmable combinations.

    Can you still use effects pedals such as an overdrive after you attenuate it with the UAD OX? Or does this basically make drive pedals obsolete?

    • @DavidLenat
      @DavidLenat 6 лет назад +9

      Since OX attenuates the output of your tube amp before the speaker, you can use any pedals you normally would into the front of your amp. OX allows you to drive the amp, giving you more control over the interaction between your guitar, pedals, and amp. For instance, a pedal like a fuzz face can sound harsh into a clean amp, but playing it through a slightly overdriven amp will deliver warmer more dynamic tones like you hear on many classic recordings where the tube amps were being pushed. OX loves pedals!!!

    I see there are a lot of experts here throwing their knowledge about, so I thought it's a nice place to ask a question. I want an amp attenuator for my Marshal JCM 800 2203 (16 ohms) 100 watts amp. In my country India, the wall power is 230volts. Which one should I buy? My amp has two output cables from the head to the speaker (L-R guess), so how do I deal with that?

    Don't get why this is worth more than double the price than the Fryette Power Station 2, in fact the attenuation is stepped vs linear which is a huge con (Rivera and Palmer attenuators do this too and its maddening that you can't get the sweet spot)

      Hi, Jared! The iPad app interacts with all emulated outputs, and will indeed affect the Headphone Out! The only thing it won't change is the speaker output, since the OX doesn't inject any of its own effects into the guitar amp's signal. Thanks for your interest!

    • @the80386
      @the80386 6 лет назад +4

      attenuation may have the effect of reducing tube life but that's because people almost always use attenuation to be able to crank the amp up to get a certain tone and then quiet it down by the attenuator. it's the 'cranking up' part that causes the reduction in life, not attenuation itself.

    Les Paul as an afterthought. Bummer. I am not a strat fan unless someone like Beck, Blackmore, SRV or Yngwie have it because they are so unique in their playing style. Most strat players who demo gear have the brittle twang style and single coils and that doesn't appeal to me, so that sound and style presented don't really demonstrate what this would do for me as if Rockers with Les Pauls tore into some standard tuned ROCK, so I keep looking at other gear, hopefully demonstrated with a Les Paul and some actual Rock lead playing. The OX looks interesting. So do the Tone King Iron Man and the Suhr attenuators. Still looking around.

    $1,300!!!!!!!!!! - worth more than some amps that this would be plugged into. Why so high? what R&D and manufacturing setup required? ' ... dozens of spot-on mic and guitar cabinet emulations ... ' it's MORE than just an attenuator then. Make an attenuator without the extras for 1/2 price and you may have me. I want to attenuate the volume in a 'live' listening situation like a smaller venue - I have all the floor pedal shit that give me 'my sound' and push my amp etc.

    Hey wait a second, was that a really misleading video? There is no amplifier in the OX so all of the twiddling with the iPad, the mic, switching of the "RIG" knob and talk of a "fully produced sound" and "room" requires some other mystery system that you will need but is not shown or properly referred to in the video. @13:40 he says the OX is not a USB interface which seems odd as it has all the parts of an interface, (my guess is marketing pulled that one to keep it from competing with other UA products). Of course no interface means you'll need to buy one to use the digital outs. You'll also need a DAW and a PA and what about the mic they show? This means you'll need to use at least three audio input channels plus a guitar amp to do what they show. That PA likely will also need to be in stereo as shown by the stereo metering on the iPad and the references to stereo imaging of the plugin effects. I can see where this device has its place and the video should have spent more time defining where it is best used and less pie in the sky with a mostly invisible rig.

    seems from the post here most people do not understand what this does. trying to compare this to something that cost 400 bucks is pretty damn funny. understand the product first before you claim your 400 dollar load box is just as good...lol

      Thank god someone said it it's like no one saw the video or red anything about it they heard what they wNted to hear. Man i was out for just an attenuator but i will probably get this baby. The utility for gigs is what closed the deal

    it seems that the attenuated sound of your amp cannot take advantage of the software that comes with the OX as it's a separate thing. If so it's quite reductive and other better, cheaper solution would then be available. thumbs down UA.

    Or... you can just buy a Fryette Power Station for half the price.

      But that doesn't have the majority of the features that this does, least of all the cab modelling.

      Wires Dream Disasters It does 95% of what this does. If I want the rest I'll grab Amplitude or one of the million other plugins and still save money

      I think Cab Modelling is the only feature the PS2 doesn't have compared to this....Except the Power Station has a lot more, like being able to increase the wattage of an amp with real 6L6 power section or act as a neutral power amp.... at half the price.

    AHEM... maybe you could take a look at two tones Torpedo? twice the usefulness at half the price. Actually less than half and more than two times useful...just sayin'...

    I rarely play with distortion.... I guess this one's not for me then!!!
    Not a note with clean sound on this demo...I have a headache!!

    why do caucasian guitar videos always have to be distorted?? about 95% of european video pertaining always distort the signal. Kinda makes sense mentally I guess to those who like drugs.....instead of living clean.....LOL

    This thing SUCKS!!! Be warned that it only connects to your computer with wifi and the wifi drops constantly if it works at all. There is no usb cable to connect to this device. At this price you would expect more thoughtful engineering and utility. The customer service at Universal Audio is non-existent. Don't waste your money.
