Thanks for showing how it's done! I cut out those two metal loops and it made putting on that RydeWear piece 100x easier. Slipped on with no effort at all after doing that, plus I'll never use those rings ever again so it's just less things dangling around, making the final result look super clean. This RydeWear quick release is amazing, highly recommend this brand and this specific one to anyone wanting a quick release.

My pleasure. Just be aware that every so often you will need to tighten it.

Thanks for finding this Beth. I have a Scorpion Covert X and the only thing I didn't like about it was the D-rings.

    Great video. 1 additional suggestion.
The video recommends removing the snap from the free end of the strap.
I just installed this buckle on my helmet(an HJC), and found that I had to remove the snap on the d-ring side as well. This allowed enough flexibility to squeeze the strap into the new buckle.
I'm sure each helmet is different, this was necessary for mine.

Been looking at these. In my younger days I was able feed a helmet chin strap through double d rings upside down, in the dark, with one hand tied behind my back. Not so much anymore. Just bought a new helmet with the micro metric or quick release chin strap on it. Had to order it from Europe because so few helmets sold in the states have the quick release straps. Anyway, need to retrofit the helmets I already have with quick releases. Some I've looked at look like a pain in the butt to install. These look much easier. Thanks for the very timely video.

I ended up cutting my double D rings off because they bugged me. I did not take off my snap but it was a real pain to get the strap through, I should have removed it.

Not sure the buckle would pass any safety test. I would not trust that to stand up to the same standard as the D rings. Safety first. Are you still hsing these on your helmets in 2023?

Nice video, very informative. Curious: why didn’t you just cut off the D rings/tab so you do not have all that additional clutter around your new clasp? Just a thought. That is what I have always done.

Love your hair blowing in the wind cinematic technique. Did your camera person do that or is in post processing? Looks like a handy snap gadget for a helmet. Better designed than the one I tried.

Cut off the D rings as they make installation so much harder & you will never use them again. Selling a helmet is irrelevant because nobody buys a used helmet!
