Nothing wrong w/BG 🎵 my dude, thx 4 the video! 🙂
what song was this?
@@samjack6216 You hate it, right?
What, you don’t like it?
i like it without it, thanks
I like your background music. Very tastefully done. Music was not too loud and I could hear your voice clearly. Very professional video
Van Guy ... thank you! You’re the first one to say so! Different strokes, different folks, right?
Thanks to everyone for all the kind comments. I noticed a few folks saying they cut off the D-rings and I certainly understand why you’d want to do it too. The reason I left mine on was intentional. I discovered that mine didn’t flap enough to bother me, for one. But mostly, I left the rings on because that’s a more permanent deletion, and I wasn’t sure if I’d ever go back to the strap. Or what if the Clip broke and I had to go back to the strap? I’d be screwed without d rings, so I left them on as a redundant “just-in-Case” measure. I could always get another plastic button and install that on the other strap. D rings would be a bit tougher.
Plus on my scorpion helmet, the rings were kinda unique so I thought they’d be cooler to keep with it.
But to each their own for sure! Mad respect to all those who do it their own way!
Used zip ties to secure rings and then tie them up out of the way. Still there if ever needed.
You undoubtedly saved me a lot of hassle & headache fiddling with it. Thank you for posting it!!
rock7902 I’m so glad to be of service to you! Thank you for the kind words.
So glad I didn’t loose that RUclips link to this video. Was about to hit that WTF stage and trash this thing. THANKS
I’m so glad you found it! Ride safely!
I put one of these on my helmet and I've been taking my helmet on and off twice a day 5-6 days a week for over a year now and this thing is still working flawlessly. By the way, before I bought it i watched this video and seen how easy it was.
Glad to be of service, my friend! Stay safe. Shiny side up.!
That was a SNAP!! Thanks fore the great direction. I had heard that these were challenging to put on but you made it easy!! Thank you!
David J. Carter -Thank you for your kind words! I’m glad to be of service.
I'm glad you had this video up. I just bought one the other night, and it arrived and I installed it this evening. I had a bit of a pain getting the slotted part of the buckle on, but finally managed it. The amount of room in the strap where the d-rings are was barely enough to fit the buckle in there period, much less working the strap to get it fed on there. I ended up cutting a piece of a straw and feeding it onto the slotted part of the buckle to ease the feeding transition of the strap, then I had to use some mechanics picks to slowly work it on there and take the straw out. It's super tight, but it's on there and works great now! Totally worth it in my opinion.
Robert Caraway ...hey brother thanks for the kind words. Great job using mechanical skills to get that female hasp installed! As tough as it was to put on, you know it ain’t coming off!
I love this thing on my brand new Shoie x14. Perfect fit. 5 minutes installed. Followed the video exactly. thank you very much
antonio campos ...SWEET! I’m glad to be of service, bruh! Nice lid, too. Shiny side up, my friend!
Great video thanks for the help. Sorry to hear about the crash glad you’re okay and I’m glad the damn buckle worked!!!
Zombulah thank you!
Awesome idea! I got those quick release locks from my old backpack & I will install ot on my helmet. 😁
I got mine on Amazon, just like you said and installed it watching your video frame by frame. lol. Took maybe 10 mins. Thanks a bunch.
Cynthia Davis awesome! I’m glad to be of service, Cynthia. What kind of helmet did you install it on? What do you ride?
Harley sportster 883. It went on a new helmet I got and didn't notice the chin strap was so short. Problem solved!! Very happy with mine. Good quality and easy peasy to put on.
Really very helpful, Just I ordered in amazon and fixed in my 2 helmets !! Good informative, please keep it up !!
Excellent tutorial. I just bought one the other night. I had a bit of a pain getting the slotted part of the buckle on, but finally managed it. The amount of room in the strap where the d-rings are was barely enough to fit the buckle in there period, (I cut off the D-rings to make room). Feeding it onto the slotted part of the buckle was easier now, to ease the feeding transition of the strap, then I had to use some mechanics picks to slowly work it on there and take the straw out. It's super tight, but it's on there and works great now! Totally worth it in my opinion.
Thank you! I agree. Being hard to install in this case results in an installation that shouldn’t easily fail, in my opinion. And I can attest to it! I went down while wearing the helmet and buckle, and it held snug to my melon. So I’m a massive fan and I’ll never ride without one.
I have used helmet quick releases for years but this one is by far the nicest unit made. It was a bit more difficult to install the female end than other brands I have used, but that just gives me more confidence in it.
Cheers and ride safe.
John W. Browning that’s how I feel about it. The tougher the install, the more likely it will hold under crash conditions.
This video is golden, thanks brother for putting it together and sharing.
MrWagtenor thank you! Glad to be of service
You saved me soooooo Much time!!! I love the video, the "special" tool...I used it too and it works beautiful!!! Thank you!!
Santos Irizarry Jr - Hey Santos thanks for the good vibes, man! I’m glad to be of service!
Watched this once through and then watched the male end bit again when I was putting it together. Went together with no frustration.
El Arr I’m glad it was helpful. I made the video because I noticed there weren’t any very good installation videos. It held perfectly in a wreck I had 11 days ago. Helmet face scraped the pavement, helmet stayed put.
Just added the clip system form my old helmet thanks to you man. Great video 👍
Soul Power glad to be of service! Stay alert! Shiny side up!
Very calming voice lol...I watched it once, and then poof, did mine as well...thanks a bunch!
Bob Schuster ⛩ namaste Brother! Lol ✌🏻
I just got this in the mail today and it works great, so glad I bought this thanks for the video also
Tarin Polucha - Awesome! Enjoy! Be safe out there!
Far better than the written instructions, thanks!
Mike Quimby glad to be of service, sir!
Thanks for this great video. The written instructions what a joke! Important thing I learned remove the d-rings before proceeding. Gives you more room to install the main piece and looks much cleaner when finished. I used a small bolt cutter. Worked great.
bob foley - You make a valid point, Bob. Cutting off the D-Rings likely does yield a cleaner install. I appreciate the compliment, too! Keep riding safely!
Thanks stud! U made it foolproof. I cut off d rings with a bolt cutter myself....
88bigten thanks! I thought about cutting off the rings as well, but I decided that i may need them in the future. To each their own in that one!
✌️✌️thanx brother
U saved my time and i got safe driving...
Thanks for the tutorial saved me a lot of time... 👍
My old Arthritic Hands thank you very much!
Safe riding!
Eric
Eric Rusch Sr glad to be of service!
Man, I just installed this on my helmet and it's been God-send.
Thanks
Two points: 1. if you don't want to remove your snap and you have enough room, you can double-back the strap with the snap and feed the doubled-back strap through the male end. 2. I put my female buckle _over_ the D-rings (I've tried it both ways)... it feels the same either way, but when put over the D-rings it hides the D-rings for a better look and also keeps them out of the way.
Keith, thank you for your feedback. Great points!
Great tutorial. Installed mine with zero issues. The most difficult part was removing the snap, which I ended up cutting off with a pair of scissors. As for the D rings, I chose to hide them behind the buckle on my HJC helmet. I was afraid they might flap around while riding if out front. Good to go.
Glad to be of service
funny and witty guy, keep it up man lol . also great as i was looking to buy this product
matemate x ... thank you, kind sir!
Great video. Nice close ups. Thanks.
Cynthia Davis don’t I know you?
ha ha. I guess not or we are distantly related. Ha.
Thankyou for sharing. Literally prevented me a headache. Ba dum tshhh
Just Love 🤣😂😁🤣😂
Thank you. Your video is extremely helpful.
K Mosh thank you, K Mosh. Incidentally, you might want to know that I went down 11 days ago, broke a finger, mutilated a knee and my head scraped in pavement in a Superman style belly flop head first skid, face-down. I actually saw the yellow line on the road pass in front of my visor while I slid. I’m healing up nicely. Bike is okay, minus a rear fairing. No head trauma, the helmet never budged off my melon, the RydeWear clasp held perfectly.
Wow. Happy to hear you are on the mend. Take care.
Thank you so much for this!
Slc inWA you’re very welcome!
I’m glad I saw this ... I’m not in for making any mods on a new helmet! 😖
Rick Martin Hi Rick, as a safety nerd I totally understand how you feel. The good news is that the parts of this system are stronger than the factory bits. And I have indeed wrecked in the helmet with this exact clip in use, having face-planted on the street. The helmet held perfectly.
This was great! I was trying to help my Dad install this and neither of us could figure it out. This was much clearer then the 1 paragraph instructions that came with the clips.
DoomFinger511 thanks for the kind words! I’m glad that it was helpful for you and your Dad! If you ride, you should consider getting one of these for yourself! I had a wreck 3 months ago, face-first and belly-down scraping my face across the pavement. This buckle held solid and the helmet did its job.
Great how-to video. Funny as well. I also want to commend you on your choice of background music, I too love good music but am not sure who it was. Please let me know. Thanks.
Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Thank you very helpful.
Henry Moreno -I’m glad to be of service, Henry!
Thanks, for this!
Kira Singh you’re very welcome! Ride safe always!
Really would like to get this. My only concern is breaking off the strap snap plastic. Hook. It would ruined the warranty of my new Shoei
antonio campos Installing any aftermarket parts on your helmet runs the risk of voiding the warranty, whether you remove the snap button or not. Unfortunately, this item’s design requires that you remove the button. The male end won’t install without doing so. However, if you’re in a wreck, your warranty is voided then too. Helmets are designed to take damage instead of your head, right? So I don’t see how it matters. Lastly, those buttons are available at any fabric shop or alteration shop.
Third one I bought and third time watching this video
Wow! I’m so glad to be of service to you! Ride safely, and thank you for the comment!
Had to remove d-rings to get clip on. No big deal, I had the cutters. This was on Biltwell helmet.
B Y -That totally makes sense! Happy riding!
Thank you
You’re welcome!
On my Bell Qualifier DLX looks like i am going to have to cut the D rings off not enough room cause they stitched it real tight.
A number of others have said the same. It seems that some helmets are like that.
Once its adjusted properly, does it stay adjusted? It looks like a great product but installing and adjustmenting seem like a real painstaking process. To me, its seems more that worth it as long as it STAYS where I set it.
lmk. Thanks
Scott parks good news, it stays rock solid once adjusted. I’ve put some real miles on it, haven’t had to adjust once since installation.
Scott parks just an update. I wrecked 11 days ago having never adjusted the strap. Helmet never budged, and no head trauma.
M.R. Davis sorry bout the crash but great news about the strap.
I love mine, though, I had to get the one with the short strap.
got one for a helmet that my girl wears, its an older helmet and the strap didn't slide through the D-Rings any more and it was quite difficult to get a snug fit... with this Clip, WOW - WHY did I wait so long to get it?!
~ Much agreed. I’ll never ride a bike without one now. They just make so much sense and are an inexpensive upgrade over stock helmet closures.
Do you find that the rydewear clip is a bit to big? The actual locking clasp. Do the sides bother you when riding?
Peter - No it’s never been an issue for me. The large size was an intentional design feature meant to make it easier to use with gloves hands, in my opinion, and also to bolster the solid quality feel of the device. Depending on how your helmet straps work and whether it has a comfort strap or not, I could see how the clasp might cause some digging or irritation. On my helmet, as seen in the video, there’s a thick flap that comes down below the RydeWear clasp so I’m somewhat insulated from such issues.
When I put the female part on, I didn't realize there was an up side and down side and of course when I put the male side on I realized I couldn't get it to buckle so had to start over. Its just as hard to take that female part off as put on but I got it fixed and I love it. Just wish I would have realized there was an up side and down side to the female part.
If I ever remake the video, I’ll account for that. Great point. Thank you!
LOVE IT, I did it by myselft
Great video! Thank you! Gen Y comment was 😂
Somebody asked for link to purchase. This is where I got it:
www.amazon.com/Black-Metal-Helmet-Quick-Release/dp/B00U2T894I
Hiya mate, Will this work on Downhill MTB helmets???
Thanks :)
I think it might. I’d have to see the straps.
After watching this to help my Dad put it on his helmet I finally bought one for my personal Shoei rf-1200 helmet.
Here is the Amazon link for the RydeWear in this vid: www.amazon.com/Black-Metal-Helmet-Quick-Release/dp/B00U2T894I
If you have different straps on your helmet (ex: it's a beanie helmet) there are 3 different types of this clip on the official RydeWear site (all are about $22): www.rydewear.com/products/motorcycle-dirtbike-metal-helmet-quick-release?variant=1101392765
Thank you for the extra detail!
Wasn't sure if they was a quick release add on so cheers for that, now i can buy the helmet i love that has the bag of shit DD straps on it! Man i hate DD straps! Why are they even a thing still in this day in age?
LinkVsGanon I can’t say I disagree with you Brother! Cheers to you for the Zelda reference!
Is there a way to avoid popping the plastic snap?
antonio campos no
Nope. It’s designed to hold snug to the strap and the snap is in the way.
Is there any reason not to take off the 2 metal d-rings?
Kent Johnson - Hi Kent. I wrote a long comment here somewhere explaining my personal rationale. The basics is that it’s personal preference. The “scorpion” branded D rings are somewhat unique and I wanted to preserve the originality of the helmet, as it was my first one.
On future helmets I’ll likely install this system and cut the rings.
@@EmAreDayviss Thank you.
You might want to throw a wrap of cloth tape around the d-ring so they don't jangle. That thing DOT certified?
www.rydewear.com/products/motorcycle-dirtbike-metal-helmet-quick-release Rydewear Patented DOT Exceeded motorcycle Helmet Quick Release
Voivod 1966 I believe that DOT standards are exceeded by this clasp product. The helmet is DOT and SNELL 2015. I wrecked 11 days ago and it held perfectly in a face-first Superman style slide with my head scraping the pavement. Helmet didn’t move and no head trauma. Good suggestion about the tape on the D rings. I thought about cutting them off entirely. They do jingle now and again, but most the time I haven’t noticed them.
Sorry to hear about your wreck, hope you're okay.
Skip Surber thanks for the link! Great info!
where do you get these from

Thanks for the video because the vid that the company sent me to is no longer available smh. so you should call the company and tell them hey since your video doesnt work mine does start sending my link
fjsantana12 That’s not a bad idea. They are welcome to share my video link.
Thank God you got rid of that music
God had a lot to do with it actually.
I know I’m late but those damn D rings vibrate in the wind and annoy me.
Chrxn without doubt, the D rings can be a problem. For those whom it bothers, I fully support cutting them buggers off!
Can I buy that special tool on amazon?
Yes you can!
New Star Foodservice 58789 Stainless Steel Windsor Pattern Dinner Knife, 8.2-Inch, Set of 12 www.amazon.com/dp/B00IFQVTBK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_9zW6CbWPDFJ9F
Took me only a few minutes. 👍
Put it on a Shark EVO-One helmet. The female part is indeed a bi*ch to get on but, ... after 15-20 mins of working it with fingers and a plastic painter's stick (about 3/16 dia. and a few inches long) it went on. I used a plastic stick (the blunt end) as not to damage the strap by poking at it with a metal tool. Looks and works great! Thanks for the how-to video - Tom
Thomas Larsen - That’s a great tip! Using a wooden tool so as to prevent scratches! I basically forced as much of the nylon material as I could with my gorilla grip hands into one side of the female side clasp; and then I folded the remainder into the slot once I had enough in. The slot is narrow so as to prevent it coming off, but that also makes it a pain to get on. A worthy trade, I’d say! Thanks for the kind words! Ride safely!
It's very simple. Not for GY is so true. 😂
Good video. Lose the music.
Look at the first comment on the video. I posted a link to a version of the video with no music. 👍🏼
Good info and product but that music f'n sucked!!
James Hurst can’t please everybody! Ha! Glad you liked the info though!
I love music, but that was annoying. Had to go to another rydewear video.
58gennaro - thanks for the feedback! that’s a common response I’ve gotten so I uploaded a version of my video without any background music- ruclips.net/video/10ufqXc9ub0/видео.html
Very good video but please loose the background music as it is too hard to hear what you are trying to say.
Paul Anderson Thank you for the feedback! you’re the second person to mention the background music. I do plan on re-shooting this tutorial later this year, and a better sound mix is definitely in order. That will likely include a better background song. This video was originally slapped together and I didn’t have access to a lot of music that was Rights-free, so a fast selection was made. Future re-doings of the video will be more deliberate and higher quality.
Hey paul- here’s the same video, with no background music:
ruclips.net/video/10ufqXc9ub0/видео.html
the background music is ridiculous on what is a great instructional video.
If you look through the comments prior to posting a comment, you’ll see there is a link to a version of the video with no background music at all. Enjoy!
Why do ppl play annoying music during an instructional video? The music is as load as the person talking, REALLY?
Look in the video description. There’s a link to a version with no music.
Here’s the version with no music:
ruclips.net/video/10ufqXc9ub0/видео.html
I could do without the annoying music.
