First, off just wanted to say I'm a big fan and watched your older videos. I think you made a mistake in this video: The version of the Zeference (Zalias) that you're using does not match what you are telling people to download. The Call of Duty® Modern Warfare Tournament Ready EQ on Zeference page has totally different audio settings than what you're saying are the best at 11:04 in the video.
Just to further clarify, I think the version of the tournament ready EQ that you have loaded into your mixamp is OLDER than the 1.2b version you tell people to download in the video because the EQs don't match up.
HI Colin - Thanks for the kind words and the support. Hmm... I'll have to investigate. The point I was trying to make was that this is "the site" to use -- whether it be for MW -or- BO:CW; but if I'm wrong I'm wrong and I'll fess up! I'll pin this for now. Thanks for keeping me honest!
Hi Axel -- depends on the game. Sometimes the star makes it sound too tinny and echo-ey (very technical terms, I know!). So it varies by experience. Regarding Windows, all I have is for the audio to utilize my optical port; nothing fancy there. I turned off any extra enhancements, etc. since I'm letting the DAC do the work.
Hey, i wanted to leave you some feedback as i watched the video a few times. First off love the video. second of all the link isn't working. Can you make an updated video regarding this?
Do you have to have the surround sound on the Mixamp enabled? I feel like the original MixAmp's (Gen 1) Surround sound was way better than the gen 3. I jumped from Gen 1 to 3.
How drastically does the audio differ if you don't use the optical cable with astros? I currently run the Astro A40 with surround sound off on the mixamp and dolby acess enabled. Do you have any idea about the comparability of these seups?
That would work as you stated... I think Astro sounds infinitely better WITH optical... it's just how it was designed. My two cents. But if you have a solution you like, that's great.
Can confirm it is 100% the better option to use the optical, I tried the mixamp with just the USB from ps5 and once I got the splitter for the optical it was so much louder and clearer, my advice is to invest in a good 4k 60hz pass through splitter unless you can get the one from astro

Greetings. Have played some hours Cold War with the Zeference EQ, Astro 40 and Sennheiser hd 600 headphones. For my ears the Astro 40 cant differentiate the crucial soundsteps from especially gun fire, but also other sounds in the same range. When crancking gain it quickly gets directly painfull. This in stark contrast to the 600s, where the open phones takes pressure off eardrums. The Zeference EQ very much shines here. For the Astro 40 (that is used when in party > mic), I use Glasscock’ EQ, that is much more leaned towards treble, and which the 40s can handle even with lots of gain. He can easily be found here on YT.
Wow, another endorsement for an EQ. You've intrigued me! I'll definitely give it a listen. I love messing around with this, and love the fact that the MixAmp supports 4 different pre-sets means it's super easy to try on the fly. Thanks!
