As a pet owner, I would never abandon my dogs. Malcom didn't just rescue this woman, he rescued her beloved fur family too. When she talked about being blinded by smoke, that brought me back to training at the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Academy where we were taught survival if we ever got trapped in a building: to crawl and use one hand to follow one side of a structure while the other was in front to make sure the floor had not given way. We were taught structures, I can't even imagine being out in unfamiliar terrain blinded by smoke and fire and yet still without the most important senses being able to rescue others. Great job Malcom! This is what a true hero looks like. First responders put their lives on the line every day - not just fire fighters, but also police, EMT's, and lets not forget our military. The National Guard are helping in CA. My heart goes out to all those protecting and serving and for those who have had loss.

That fire, with the hurricane force winds whipping it madly in all directions, was so wildly unpredictable that there's no way to be safe from it except by getting far far away from it. The fireman knew that better than anyone, and yet he braved the terrifying inherent risks and drove into the center of it to save that woman and her dog. The took a whole lot of heart, character and courage. Hats off to all the courageous fire fighters working to save lives.

Never give up hope❤ When I saw her text message to her husband, the tears just came. She didn't know if she would be Safed and her husband did not know if they would be in time. God gave them an angel called Malcolm 🙏♥️ Now more happy tears.

I love this!! firefighters are amazing my son‘s a captain and he recently saved a woman’s life on a mountain while she was in cardiac arrest. There’s nothing like it. It will be something that will live with them forever. God bless you, Malcolm for your bravery.❤

I could hear this hero’s heart!!! He’s the one who has had to document the humans that didn’t make it! He has this mental picture in his nightmares. He wishes he could have saved them too!! Heartwarming and breaking all at the same time!!
