Thank you!! I have random thoughts about artists that i feel like ppl forgot about but I just know that there has to be other ppl out there thinking the same thing
Had not thought about Pia Mia in a while!! I used to think she was an influencer who ventured to music on the side. Did not even know she was from Guam. This was very insightful!
I'M SO HERE FOR IT!!! Just clicked so can't say anything yet BUT PIA MIA WAS SO INFLUENTIAL FOR ME IN MY TEEN YEARS. Did I wear Bandanas to school bc of her? HELL YEAH. Did I wear bright blue contacts bc of her?!?! HELL YEAH. She deserved so much better but I feel like she got protected from this disCOSting industry as well. Her new album SLAPSSS as well.
I went to HS in Guam so I was also interested and supportive of Pia. She should definitely be bigger. I never cared for the blonde and blue contacts.. I never thought that helped. Also, loved East Los High.
Not entirely the kardashian-jenner family’s fault. Pia has all the connections and network to boost her career but she used the money she made into luxurious lifestyle instead of investing it to a better management team. There’s many ways to get the good music, she has the talent, style, and a pretty good fanbase to start, she has writing skills also, she has all the means to make her music. I think she was not courageous enough to “sacrifice” the money she’s earned to invest. Maybe she was too young and too naive to know how far she could have gotten. A lot of the celebs in Hollywood have to sacrifice their body to get a good career running. So I understand why she opt for OF and have her independence and some sort of freedom. Also the music industry is tough af if you don’t dare to spend money in a good manager, and the contracts are way too financially abusive.
I was definitely a Pia Mia fan! She was poppin when I was in college (showing my age 👀🤣)I did get introduced to her by Do it again. We should be together was my ISH!!! I started following her on TikTok last year and was like damn what happened to her. Loved this video. Learned so much more about her. Your video always hit though ❤❤
I was there in THAT era, watching her covers, following her on IG, I thought she was going to be big, and I remember that Kanye video, but didn't know it was a meme in the US (I'm from latin america) I discovered Frank Ocean bc of her Swim Good cover, and I love Fight For You, until this day. Cool that you made a video about her.
I’m a fan since “Do it again” So glad “Anti Romantica was released , and still currently on repeat , a lot of bangers!! She need to get noticed again ❤
Heard her first on Bubblegum Boy. That single got pushed out to Disney Channel viewers fairly effectively imo, though I’m not sure if it was explicitly marketed BY Disney or not. I remember reading criticism from fans that Pia was just using Bella for the fame, had too much auto tune (as you mentioned), and wasn’t genuine. Idk I got down with the song tho, had it on my iPod.
Isn’t it crazy how she even had that mini controversy back then! I think some people viewed her as a social climbed or as if she was using people yo get to the top. Like why would ppl even initially jump to that conclusion with her and bella?
She had a song on the divergent soundtrack. It was so soothing. There was also a short period of time when she was trying to teach Kylie how to sing. There were some youtube videos of it. She seems so kind. I hope she comes back to the forefront soon.
I actually first found out about her theough Divergent. I loved the song and looked up the Sountrack and then started looking into her music! She's so talented. Makes me happy she's making more music(:
So when I did research for this video I totally forgot about her song from divergent initially. I listened to it when researching and I used to listen to it a lot! Always loved how experimental it was and dynamic. For some reason, I completely forgot about it though 😭
Best suggestion ever. Sis made one of the best albums to come from a Disney star and then said “ima lend my voice to movies and that’s it”. I’ll never forgive the people who made her step away from the music industry
@@Serenityblu23 that wasn’t the only reason. When she did her collab with Chris Brown, she got extremely hated on for it and was like “yeah this isn’t for me”. Even though the song was a banger
Pia Mia is one of the biggest what ifs for me. Shawty had talent. I remember listening to Bubblegum Boy all the time. I remember her song with Austin Mahone that never got released on streaming platforms (it was a rendition of a preexisting song). I remember listening to her songs with G Eazy and Chris Brown. Boys and Girls was always playing for me. Also, people can say what they want, but she ate that little a-cappella moment at that dinner with Drake and Kanye up. I think the last song I added of hers was We Should Be Together, which came out in 2016 so it’s been a minute since I checked for her
To be honest, she had all of the ingredients to be a superstar at least in my opinion. So I agree it is one of the biggest what ifs ! Maybe we’ll see a resurgence on the horizon

The fact that she's been doing RUclips for over six years gagged me 🤫that's why the videos are so fire
Takes time but so worth it!!
I still listen to her song "Good Luck" on a regular basis LOL she's so talented and I'm definitely going to check out her new album now!!
I feel you on the blue contacts especially, it really changed her look. Alsoo i’m glad so many folks are saying they remember East los too🤞🏾🤞🏾
Not entirely the kardashian-jenner family’s fault.
Literally subscribed just because I have been wondering about what happened to her so much! I loved all her songs 😢😢😢
Thank you for subscribing!! I have more of these videos to come
Loving these videos. This series is fire!
I was a freshman in college. But I definitely remember her! The going home cover was my first time hearing her
I was definitely a Pia Mia fan! She was poppin when I was in college (showing my age 👀🤣)I did get introduced to her by Do it again. We should be together was my ISH!!! I started following her on TikTok last year and was like damn what happened to her. Loved this video. Learned so much more about her. Your video always hit though ❤❤
Ppl with good taste were definitely there!! Love that I could make this vid❤️ and thank you for watching!!
I was just listening to her old songs and wondering what happened. Thank you for covering this...
Of course!!
I was there in THAT era, watching her covers, following her on IG, I thought she was going to be big, and I remember that Kanye video, but didn't know it was a meme in the US (I'm from latin america)
I discovered Frank Ocean bc of her Swim Good cover, and I love Fight For You, until this day. Cool that you made a video about her.
Wow I literally haven’t thought of her since she did that one song with Bella Thorne!
It seems like she faded from a lot of people’s memories collectively 🫣
Just so you know, I LOVE THIS SERIES! Some suggestions? Mindless behavior, New Boyz, LMFAO!
Like why would ppl even initially jump to that conclusion with her and bella?
i remember in 2014 (me being 14) showing my younger niece pia mia and telling her she was gonna be the next big thing lmaoo . i was obsessed with her
Tbh I was convinced too!
She had a song on the divergent soundtrack. It was so soothing. There was also a short period of time when she was trying to teach Kylie how to sing. There were some youtube videos of it. She seems so kind. I hope she comes back to the forefront soon.
Wait used to be obsessed with her 'Fill Me In' cover ft. Austin Mahone!! 😮
Yess!! Same especially bc i was in love with Austin at the time😂
I been watchin ur channel for 2yrs n i no im not da only one dat see it... U remind me so much of Jill Marie Jones (Toni Childs) 😍😍
Awe thank you!! I’ve gotten that a lot
Do it again was my 1st intro to her, its still in my playlist and I still listen to it
I actually first found out about her theough Divergent.
Thank you so much for this video ❤ can you do a video on Zendaya music career ?
Of course!! That is a great suggestion
Best suggestion ever. Sis made one of the best albums to come from a Disney star and then said “ima lend my voice to movies and that’s it”. I’ll never forgive the people who made her step away from the music industry
@kayziofficial she tried to release music but Disney wouldn't let her and she still this day can't release music so she continues with acting
@@Serenityblu23 that wasn’t the only reason. When she did her collab with Chris Brown, she got extremely hated on for it and was like “yeah this isn’t for me”. Even though the song was a banger
OMG EAST LOS HIGH that threw me back in time
SO GLAD IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO REMEMBERS!
