In the comics, Rogue absorbed Carol Danvers' (Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel) abilities which left her in a coma. She ended up getting her abilities of flight, super strength, speed, agility and invulnerability.
I personally feel the old show hasn't aged all that well, but watching a recap at the very least would've enhanced the experience. '97 relies on plot threads set up by the original series.
This is very comic accurate, the movies did every xmen useless and made wolverine a forced protagonist, when in the comics Ciclops could be described as the protagonist
The movies didn't do a lot of characters justice. They focused too much on Wolverine when the X-Men are a team. Rogue was always badass. Fans don't claim her movie counterpart. The show answers a lot of questions you have later, but there are a few recaps of the og show on RUclips. The season only gets better from here.
I must admit, after the movies I started to hate Wolverine a bit, because of his omni-presents and the adopted that in the comics too. At the end of the 2000s and in the 2010s, Wolverine seemed to be a member of every Superhero Team in the Marvel Universe. My favorite X-Men are by the way Rogue and Gambit.
Hi! You don't need to watch the old serie. This new sequel is more mature and interesting. You don't need because there are enough given context in each episode to understand it. Rogue's superstrength/invulnerability & flight comes from Captain Marvel(Carol Danvers) after she put her in a coma by touching her too long, as such she aborbed permanently her memories and some of powers. Her power is the same as in the movies here because she aborbed people's memories & skills. If the person has power(s), she aborbs it temporary or definitively(depending on the duration she touched the person)too.
But it wouldn't hurt you to watch the old show either. 😉 The old show is more for children, but still deals with quite adult topics and the dialogues were already quite good. It was also the first superhero cartoon to tell a continuous story and many episodes ended with "to be continued". In addition, you will also see the real and only true Phoenix Saga. In the movies, they tried to adapt this story twice and failed twice.
@@jaynecobb8356 the old show was rated PG 7 and many subjects have been censored/not developped. The X-Men's topics are not for little children. Spider-Man or Batman TAS was more mature & better than X-Men TAS at the same time. The 90's cartoon adaptated the comics in a very condensed way, and they acted like teenager more than adults, no blood, no real kill, Wolvie was a joke because he couldn't use his claws against anyone properly. The Phoenix Saga was well adaptated despite the tone down due to the age restriction. For me, it was the best story from the old cartoon because the rest of the serie are too much Wolverine focused stories and they acted like 13 years old teenagers and not like adults 99% of the time.

Storm is one of the most powerful mutants in the comics... Omega level. The movies did her dirty.

Loved your reactions, how many times per week are we gonna have them?
Thank you! I'm going to try to upload at least twice per week. I'm thinking Mondays and Fridays, but I'm not sure yet.
Walker's hot as hell, sheesh!
