Thank you for this and ALL of your videos. Your ideas and insights are very helpful! I can’t believe this video doesn’t have more likes. It’s the LEAST one can offer for a free lesson!
“Those virtuosic passages that no matter how hard you practice them, they’re never clean.” *plays the hardest passage in the whole piece perfectly and cleanly* 😩
As someone who went to uni for cello and have recently brought it back to my life, these videos are invaluable! I really can't thank you enough Inbal! I'd love to musicate sometime in the city, and cook dinner for you and your family!
This will be getting referred to quite a lot while I get familiar with one of my dream pieces of music to play on the cello... grateful you put this up. Another dream piece is I think Monti “Czardas”, & a third- Thais Meditation. If ever stranded on a desert island and I can only do a nice job on those three pieces, I’ll be okay lol. Would need to just SOS occasionally for a luthier to boat in.... I’ll check back through your old postings to see if you ever shared tips on those beauties too. Thanks, & hope you’re doing ok. Idk how much the performing music-scene has picked back up since covid started messing with everyone’s lives.... Edited to add: I forgot Bach! I’d need to be able to do justice to a few things from his cello suites too if stranded w/ instrument, ha. : )
Hi Camden, the Barenreiter is a good edition but as with any other music, studying the manuscript is important. I bought a facsimile from Barenreiter. Interestingly, there are a lot of differences even through these are both Barenreiter editions so ultimately, you should make your own informed decisions. Thanks for watching!
I know I'm not the one playing but I don't think vibrato should be "policed". It is the performers choice, imo. A stylistic choice not worth making too much over.

The "dry material" was my whole reason for watching... My version has bad chords...
