- Hello Cellists,
Today’s masterclass is on the first movement from Gaspar Cassadó’s Suite for Solo Cello, which is influenced by his composition teacher, Maurice Ravel. We’ll go through exercises to internalize the meter, the thematic structure of the piece, practicing harmonics with care, and managing quintuplets (and 11-tuplets).
Please let me know if you have any comments and/or questions, I would love to hear from you. Thank you for watching!!

That bit of insight about with Ravel and the Daphnis theme is a gem! Thank-you.
Starting this piece next week…and I’ll be honest, I hadn’t a single clue how the rhythms actually went. In every recording I’ve heard, the musician takes incredible liberties with their rubato. A critical component, but it makes it hard for me to place the rhythm. This helped me SO much, thank you!
So glad it did! Thanks for writing you made my day
Omggg can’t wait for 3rd movement!
this cello helps a lot
That’s an interesting insight about the passage from Ravel. Thank you for your thoughts on this piece and breaking down the ideas to make them digestible.
Inbal, thank you so much for sharing!
Merci beaucoup Inbal!
You got me hooked on this piece. I hope you're happy.😉
Alan Amira yes!! I am happy, lol
This is great, thank you! I was wondering what you use in terms of the microphone to record your cello? It sounds amazing.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and artistry!
Could you please tell us what edition if this Suite you work on? Musicaly yours
I desperately need you to teach me
