    Great videos. In the 80s AND 90s I used to flip police cars and other fleet vehicles. My house used to look like a police station.

    I used to buy police crown vics at municipal auctions in NM for around $1000 each with 100K miles on them. I used them as cabs and one point I had 13 of them on the road. I typically ran them up to 500,000 miles before I'd sell them off. Police crown vics (Interceptors) have P71 in the VIN vs civilian ones that have P73 in their VINs.

    The 5.3 powered 2007-14 Tahoes suffer from cam failures similar to the Chargers. The active fuel management system was a flawed design the led to premature engine failure. Let's not even get into the 6 speed transmission issues.

    • @streetratgarage
      @streetratgarage  7 месяцев назад +1

      The hemi engine does not do well when you leave it idle for a long period of time and this is exactly what a lot of police officers do. The low idling does not allow enough oil to get onto the cam and roller lifters, causing a roller lifter failure that leads to grinding the lobes off of the cam. this ticking sound is what you hear when the lobes are wearing out.

I don't wanna hear, 'what if there's an emergency .,.," there are plenty of cops with plenty of shifts. They can commute to their 'service" work in their personal vehicle. It's like there's no personal rules, regulations and hoops for them to jump through; to easy. No not cop hater BUT 'FED" up with govmnt servants 'mismanagement." There is waaaaaaaaaaaay to much abuse with public entities/servants and tax payer funded publicly owned cars. It's an absolute joke and should be audited nation wide.

    So you think that gray Crown Vic might've been sitting 2 to 3 years as you stated in the video and you started it and let it run with potentially bad gas in the tank that if so is now running through the injectors and through the whole car, nice. Apparently your not buying it, though it sucks for the next buyer with what you and probably every other person there is doing.

    • @streetratgarage
      @streetratgarage  7 месяцев назад

      Every car there will be started by the auction and run for about 20 mins as it waits in line to go on the auction block. If you watched the whole auction, that same car was shown driving through the auction. The driver saw it was starting to over heat and kept on running the car until it was starting to rattle by the time they sold it. Then drove it back to the back lot.
      So that’s how things work at an auction. And what you need to be aware of before you buy.

      Crown Vic don’t care about idle time, but the Dodge charger sure does.

    Dodge ripped off Lots of Police Departments with the POS Charger. The engines are crap 💩. At 80,000 miles the cam is bad ? My 05 Kia has 195,000 miles and runs as smooth as brand new. I serviced it with Oil Changes every 5000 miles and used Castrol Synthetic. Older Chevys Trucks and Fords can go long way also. The new ones seem like they don’t have the Durability and are made Cheap.

    If show up in the hood in an unmarked Crown vic and try and make UC drug buy, good luck.

    Government auctions are hilarious. Bought with tax payer money and then sold back to them. Seems like they should be given away or donated.

    I'd go to auctions, but they all talk like they have marbles in their mouth. This isn't the 1800's.

      Auctions are one of the last con games hoisted on the public. Always some wild cards in the bidding audience driving up the price and others winning the bid but turning the car back in to be bid on at a later date and to a different audience. Also like buying a pig in a poke, never really know what you are getting but can bet the auction house knows.

    What world do you live in that the pentastar 3.6 not make noise. All Chrysler products make cam and lifter noise. It's how mechanics in the hood have earned a living for the past 12-15 years

      We are talking about fleet vehicles that have been maintained and repaired already most of the chargers I started had high miles and sound really good

    POLICE ALWAYS SELL OFF THEIR OLD CARS, I JUST WISH THEY WOULD LET ALL POLICE KNOW.
    I've seen so many people get one of these at auction and then get harassed by police. Either police don't know they are sold. I've seen videos because the decal that came on the car said police intercepter and the guy got screemed at. I don't know that its worth the stress.

      Not sure what the problem is, but I have driven several X police vehicles. I am actually driving a 2014 Tahoe X state police vehicle. I have never been pulled over for that reason.

    The only reason to ever buy one of these ex government cars, is for the motor and transmission to put in another Ford. 😂
