    Great video! Thank you for the well thought out and executed content. I live in a townhouse. I have been watching videos for several years about the Green Stalk thinking it may be a real solution for me. This year on the first day of the sale I bought two originals. They were at my door soon after. I was so excited about them I decided to buy a few more 🙂 This video really helped me hone in on the best purchase strategy. I think I am going to really enjoy the planters. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.

      @@SpaceCoastHarvest that's a great choice. And the Leaf is also a great choice for lettuce, herbs, beans etc and looks amazing with flowers like pansies, nasturtiums, dwarf marigolds, petunias etc

    I have three terracotta greenstalks. So sad that color went away. I see they have a new “maple” color that looks close but I am picky and do not want different colors in my yard.

    • @GreenLove1
      @GreenLove1  3 месяца назад +1

      Ya, I would not get a "close enough" color either. I would go with a contrasting color when I need to buy my next one!

    I love the inventors model. I got it recently when the new basket weave was introduced. It was on sale and included all the accessories that I like to have for a great bundle price just enough for free shipping.

      I have not got that, but I can see that that would really be a great option for first time greenstalk owners as well, since it really includes everything you need to get started!

    Great tips! I ended up ordering an Original and a Leaf - the Original was cheapest through Greenstalk, but I actually found the Leaf a bit cheaper through a RUclipsr’s web store. Worth googling for the one you want to see if it’s cheaper somewhere else.
    I went with Maple for mine, but in general I think I like the discontinued colors a little better, particularly the terra cotta and the chocolate brown.
    I find it really weird that Greenstalk’s watering system needs to be disconnected to rotate the planter - seems like a really awkward setup. Think I may DIY something freestanding.

    • @GreenLove1
      @GreenLove1  3 месяца назад

      Oh that's cool that you were able to get the Leaf cheaper elsewhere. That shipping cost does add up though, doesn't it?
      And ya, that's awkward to have to disconnect the watering each time. I have a temporary DIY that actually works well, but ya, I have to disconnect it to turn as well.

      @@GreenLove1 It does! I was able to get free shipping on both orders, thankfully. I tried applying a discount code to the Greenstalk order but it took it below the free shipping threshold 😭 Ended up adding some flower seeds to bring it back up to 150.
      Was thinking I could maybe rig up a watering system using a shepherd's crook or similar stake - something that stands clear of the planter to let it turn, and just outputs water downward into the watering basin.

      @@drtbantha that sounds like a fantastic idea! Hopefully GreenStalk is working on something too, to make it easier in future.

    What kind of maintenance? Cantaloupe????? How please? Thank you for sharing!

    • @GreenLove1
      @GreenLove1  3 месяца назад +5

      Annual maintenance involves maybe refreshing some of the soil (it tends to compact and get full of roots over the year. Seasonal maintenance mostly involves pruning off or removing cool season plants and replacing them with warm season plants, filling in empty pockets of there are any, pest management (I have had the worst aphids and ants problems in my GreenStalks). That kind of thing! And ya, the best cantaloupe I have ever eaten, I could not believe it either. The plant produced just one, but it was the coolest experiment!

      @@GreenLove1 I saw that aphid video! I get aphids bad on my roses.

    • @GreenLove1
      @GreenLove1  3 месяца назад +2

      @@KatMSmith ya, aphids are certainly not just a problem in my GreenStalks; what made them more difficult to manage were the ants that had built a nest in the GreenStalk. I ended up needing to dismantle that part to take care of it. And stacking and unstacking GreenStalks is no fun!
