I have the 2021 XCFW 500 and I took it all apart got the parts from Takamoto. He is only into KTM’s. He does a very good job for parts. I put the power commander. I put the euro air filter boot and a slip on from FNF and it works great no problems.
the mirrors i ordered from amazon i don't have the china brand name i got them for a set of zeta hand guards 2 years ago ... sorry ! they suck anyway get a double take mirror they work better .
Pretty darn frustrating after spending an arm and middle leg for the thing. You might want to check Slavens Racing for a solution. At least your air-box was clean. Image if you you were at a muddy event. Good luck.
Usually ktm doesn't drop the ball on those types of engineering flaws. I would just chuck em into the weeds and keep rippin lol. I doubt it would hurt performance. If anything might open it up on the big end a little more having less restriction
It sucks because you spend top dollar on a bike and then you have to spend like $1000-$1500 just to make it run correctly because to remove the reeds an ECU and exhaust or something like a Pro Moto billet end cap is needed. But once you get that the bike would run great and have more all around power. I’m about to do the ECU and end cap stuff on my 21’ Husqvarna fe350s which will open the bike way up, but I’ve never had any issues with the reeds on my bike but they will likely fail in the Arizona heat once that glue starts to fail. Still a bike is a bike and they all have little issues here and there if you ride it hard during ownership. Dirt bikes are supposed to be beaten on ride hard and put away wet! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
The coolant is at the top of the levels, and it is fine ! I'm riding in 95° weather and was riding it hard in the video prior to this one . The rubber boot is made out of a rubberized material that expands, and they fall out .... I'm testing some fixes for this weekend!
The new model doesn't run correctly without the reed block and if you don't have a ecu or exhaust . You can't remove the reed block. The bike will barely run and get hot 🔥 really quickly! It's a 2000 dollar fix on a brand new bike! I talked with KTM and they said you can rvt silicone them in and it wouldn't void warranty.
@metalmotomayhem at first no, I left it in. Then about a week later I thought I would take a look at the Reed cage to see for myself how easy (or difficult) removal would be. I removed the air cleaner and the bezel that holds the cage in place was actually inside of the air filter element!! It had popped out on its own! So at this point I decided may as well just remove it. It came out in seconds with pair if needle nose pliers. Really a poor design by KTM, but the bike is everything you would think a modern day performance 500cc should be (and more). It's literally a different bike.
@@metalmotomayhemTaco Moto, Athena Get ECU and a billet end cap. Completely opens bike up, you wont be disappointed. The power gain and absence of flame outs is definitely worth it.
Spend the money on a GET ECU, throw the reeds in the trash, and you won't have to complain about them constantly. You'll also make nearly 20 HP more and get all the bike you paid for. There's nothing wrong with your bike or KTM in general, so no need to freak out the guys in your comments by telling them it's a turd. lol
When I spend a lot of money 💰 on a bike and it doesn't run right from the factory or there is a defective part I would hope someone would of told me before I got hurt or killed from a defective product. So the already expensive bike needs 2000 dollars to run correctly 🤔 yeah I shouldn't tell anyone about that .... lol 🤣 hey maybe KTM should pay for my ecu and exhaust, and I'll stop complaining about the new bike .

My wife said KTM stands for “Keeps Taking Money”.
She’s really smart ! 😂 Maintenance is ridiculous too !
Reeds need to go ... Unlessh the beast
I was looking through your videos to find out what the name of your mirrors are. But I didn't have any luck.

Hey Friend. Can you provide the name, manufacturer of these mirrors? Are you satisfied with them? Can you see well?
I’m sorry I’ll check mine now
What tires did you put on? Let us know what mechanic says; especially for those of us who just invested in same bike!!! Also, what mirrors are those?
Pirelli Mt 21 front and a dunlop d 606 talking to the tech today the mirrors are from Amazon zeta handguards mirrors.
I just bought the same bike where did u get your ignition switch from?
That is the switch that was recalled. You obviously have the newer switch.

Where did you find those mirrors that mount on the inside of your handguards ? 👌
Amazon
Got a link cant find

Agreed 👍
Any problem with some of the parts making its way into the engine?
no it's fine .
is the 2023 a better choice ????
No, 24 still the way to go
I think problem is heat. Bike shouldn't turn on the fan this kind of normal speeds. Check out the radiator. Maybe air in there maybe leak

Is this only a problem for the KTM 2024s
yes other years are glued in .
should of just threw them away. lol all the previous models have them too. it will run without them but you should plan on uncorking it and tuning it.

Top tier austrian engineering lol
I take it this is your first KTM lol
yes it is ! not like any bike i have owned before !
Check out best dual sports bikes channel. I did his reed delete , exhaust cap and tune. It runs soo much better
Throw those reeds in the garbage. They’re only there for the North American market for noise restrictions.
I guess that proves you can't just take them out unless you get a tune
You need an exhaust and ecu to get rid of the Reeds!
I did the flash and end cap. Also desmogged. Unbelievable gains, no flame out, pulls longer and way more reliable. Just do it.
Did you remove the reed block ?
@@johnsnowwhite8332can you explain a bit more of why and how you remove the desmog stuff?

You need to remove them and have ecu flashed . Trust me. Is own the same bike.

I would have yanked it out and thrown it into the fucking woods, it's not a necessary item.🤣

the bike will not run with out them in !

Fook those reeds. I took mine out.
