The best word to describe Eddie Money and his music.....how about "Classy".....you feel what he feels when he sings.....the guy was so human and unpretentious...
I love this song 🎵 ❤️ and Eddie Money 💰. This song is something that people can actually relate to. Especially, real young girls who think they know it all. But,a hard head makes a soft behind. Eventually, they learn and truly understand that not all people are your friends 💯.
Eddie was actually one of New York's finest before he was a rocker. This vid kindof goes back to those roots. Like he was a good cop who really did care aboutcertain "good kids" going down the wrong road in life.
Wikipedia says: Eddie Money was born Edward Mahoney into a large Irish Catholic family in Brooklyn and raised in Plainedge on Long Island. His father, grandfather, and brother were members of the New York City Police Department and Eddie was an NYPD trainee.[3] As his interest in music intensified, he eventually ended his law enforcement career in favor of becoming a full-time musician.
I met him in person twice while working security gig for him. He was a really friendly guy, never acted like he was better than anyone else, really genuine.
for me "new music" is discovering Eddie Money tracks I have yet to hear. This just popped up in my feed and OMG he never ever disappoints !! I love u man! x
A good friend of mine had an uncle who worked with Eddie's dad in the 108th precinct in Queens. He actually met him at his uncle's 50th wedding anniversary like 20 years ago. He said he was a really great guy.
For those who might wonder about the origins of the stage name Eddie Money, it had/has nothing to do with cash money. Eddie's real last name was Mahoney, which is pronounced in Ireland and the Irish language as /Ma-ney/ and not /Ma-ho-ny/. That is the correct pronunciation of the name and any Irish-Americans with that name and connections to the old country know this. Since Money and /Mah-ny/ sound so similar (they're minimal pairs) it's obvious why he chose that spelling, especially because it gave a more glitzy meaning to his last name. BTW, when immigrants came into the USA back in the 19th Century the immigration officers at Ellis Island Americanized any name they didn't know. When they didn't know it they pronounced it as it looked to them were it English. Since to any American-English speaker, the name Mahoney is automatically pronounced phonetically with all the syllables voiced, that pronunciation became the standard in the USA. However, to the Irish, especially those with ethnic connections to Ireland, they know that it is pronounced Mahny. I only know this because I live in Europe and have a close friend from Ireland named O'Mahony and he corrected my pronunciation right from the moment we met.
This is one of the first videos I ever saw on MTV when I was a kid. We had just moved from the sticks to a bigger place where we got finally got cable. My big brother told me Eddie Money was a narc and, for his trouble, had to explain to me what a narc was. :D Good memories.
The address given at the end of the video in the radio chatter is 357 West 35th Street. This address is actually Midtown South Precinct of the NYPD. I doubt there would be a robbery in progress going on there, but well played, Mr. Money!

The production in MVs back then. He really put effort into these videos, you would believe he had acting training. It tells a story and he really gives feeling to the video. Nowadays musicians can be so awkward in MVs
He dedicated this to his daughter Jessica it's on RUclips for a 2010 concert it's uploaded u can see it n it's heartbreaking BC he's basically singing the song to his daughter I tweeted it to her n she said it was heartbreaking she didn't know it existed I guess she as a performer was messin with the wrong crowd in his tour so he says "shes home with her mother thank God" lol just some cool info

A story song with moral weighing - Eddie Money, living as he did in NYC + cop days, added with the move to LA means he saw too many real life victims, self-made & otherwise. He was tough, a no nonsense guy with a reputed decent right hook & able to wail on sax once he had the knack.
I just took a check on Eddie Money's Compilation albums / CDs. I find it interesting to note that this sinle is not included in any one. I wonder why. This song did peak at number 54 on the Billboard Hot 100, while some of the songs included on some of his compilations did not make the Hot 100. I offer that he and his marketing team should consider issuing another compilation with this song included. I suppose that in today's age, one could always just download the song individually, or just purchase his 1983 "Where's The Party?" LP, 8-track, or cassette. That may be difficult to do, or costly. I just noticed that this album is not available on CD. Maybe it should be also.

Well she's always been a good good girl
But she's always lived in her own world
Stealing makeup from her mommy's purse
And her mother said it only got worse
Well she ran with kids much older
She did all the things they told her to do
Doin' crazy things because they were in
Now she's heading for the big crash
She's running with the white trash
The girl is moving too fast
She's heading for the big crash
The big crash, the big crash
Well I wish she'd listen to me
And I'd tell her 'bout the things that she doesn't see
Tell her now before it gets too late
That she's heading for the big crash
Now she's heading for the big crash
She's running with the white trash
The girl is moving too fast
She's heading for the big crash
The big crash, the big crash
She thinks that she's all grown up now
She thinks that she's cool enough now
When will she realize that they're cutting her down to size
The big crash
The girls moving too fast-heading for the big crash
Goin' places where she shouldn't have been
Doin' crazy things because they were in
Now she's heading for the big crash
She's running with the white trash
The girl is moving too fast
She's heading for the big crash
The big crash, the big crash
